Ok I forgot to add - you must go to debug window -> console -> type: help -> there will be all available commends with description as I remeber you must type: walletpassphrase 'password' 'amount of seconds you want to unlock wallet' (like 9999999999 - would be enough), of course without quote mark.

@sorai - you must change slimcoin.conf or slim.conf "reservedbalance = 0" but this is on windows in roaming folder. I don't know how on Mac... But where you have blockchain of slim you should have slimcoin.conf or similar, if not you must create it.

@muf18. Thank you. A "configuration" file doesn't exist. So I tried to make one as you suggested.   I copied the configuration file for another coin's Mac wallet and renamed it "slimcoin.conf" and put the new configuration file under ~/Library/Application Support/slimcoin (which is where other coins and Slimcoin put all the files), adding the line "reservedbalance = 0" without the quotation marks.

However, there is still no way to unencrypt the slimcoin wallet for staking.  Other staking coins' wallets have a menu option under SETTINGS that's called "unlock wallet."  Slimcoin's Mac wallet has no such option under settings or anywhere else.   I see no place where I can unlock wallet for staking.

@d5000 Thank you.  Unfortunately the Mac wallet GUI has no such menu option as you describe.

In the GUI you can also change reservebalance. Go to "Settings -> Options", there you should be able to change "Reservebalance" to 0. See also my PoS guide here: http://slimco.in/proof-of-stake-guide/

This menu option you've described does not exist at that location on the Mac wallet. And I've looked everywhere else I can think of.

@gjhiggins: You may be right. I have other problems with coinomi - as it is not really open source (license terms prohibit to distribute derived works or use them in a "commercial" way), any change in the consensus model could mean they would have to adapt the software and they maybe even would charge a fee for this service.

@sorai: In the GUI you can also change reservebalance. Go to "Settings -> Options", there you should be able to change "Reservebalance" to 0. See also my PoS guide here: http://slimco.in/proof-of-stake-guide/

-->> Just spotted a bug (?) there: The number in the "Settings" dialog is initially on 0 while the main window displays the default or currently set reserve balance. When you change the setting in the Settings dialog it has no effect on the number displayed in the main window.

@dzarmush: The operation to obtain the "Circulating Supply" is easy - simply they would have to rest subtract the balance of the Burn Address from the available supply.
The problem is that there is currently no web service that provides that number or even the burn address balance in a machine-readable way (slimcoin.club or bchain.info could be web-scraped but that is of course not ideal).
With gjhiggins' ACME (or more precisely: with his real-time queryable RDF blockchain) these queries are possible, but as far as I understand it is still not ready for the URL of the query interface to be shared. CMC would make queries relatively often so it should consume some resources on ACME, I guess.

I am currently filling out the questionnaire for Coinomi integration.

I'm a  bit confused. I have a hard time believing that Coinomi would be prepared to put in the effort to extend the GUI to handle burn tx data --- but without burning, it ain't hardly Slimcoin.

Yes, I know I took a fast pass and a coinomi port looked trivial. Too trivial when I started to think about the UI.

Cheers

Graham

Thank you for this post. I'm thinking the same - without burning there is little point to have it.
Do you think about porting Android Peercoin wallet or BTC wallet to Slimcoin ?
I would even settle some fund for it, because it's really needed.

Btw, is there any chance to fix Circulating Supply on Coinmarketcap? Otherwise Slim will always be on the last page.

I would like to start staking (not burning, but staking) my Slims.  However, I can't figure out any way to activate staking on the Mac wallet.

I have spent the last hour studying the interface. There appears to be no way to unlock the wallet.  There is only a menu option to change the password.

There appear to be no buttons or menu options on the wallet referring to staking.  Nothing suggests staking is even possible -- except for a message at the bottom of the screen that reads, "Minting suspended due to locked wallet" (I assume Minting = staking, but I don't see any way to unlock wallet for staking).

Staking is very well hidden feature.  I give up. Where is it?

What do you think about Komodo's Barter DEX? They invite everybody to join it as far as I know.

I am currently filling out the questionnaire for Coinomi integration. There are a couple of questions, however, where I need help from a technically advanced user.

The questions relate to the "original codebase", e.g. they ask if Slimcoin introduces changes with respect to its antecessor (Peercoin).

Quote from: Coinomi
Have you modified the block and transaction serialization formats?

Have you modified the block id hash function as is reported in the RPC?

Have you modified the transaction id hash function?

Have you modified the cryptographic signature algorithm in any way?

I think the last one is a "No", but I'm not sure. I don't know which of the others are affected by the change from the original SHA-256 to DCrypt. There was also a question about changes in the PoW hashing algorithm and this one is clearly a "Yes".

I found this related post, but I think the Slimcoin integration is a little bit more complicated than Ixcoin because of DCrypt and the Proof of Burn blocks.

@dzarmush: Awesome work! That's exactly what I meant with my earlier post. Wouldn't it, however, be better to position the coin logo a little bit higher so the shadow doesn't touch the word "Slimcoin"?

I still have a weird problem with the lastest version of the wallet,

Is there anything indicative in debug.log, db.log or your system logs?

Hello all,

I still have a weird problem with the lastest version of the wallet,

It keeps closing before the wallet appears on the screen (i have just the logo and that's all).
I am using the windows version, and this happens on my windows 7 and 10 version.

Anyone has experienced this ?
(for now i am using the v0.4.0.0-g154b52a-alpha)

thanks

K.

Did you use my AIO client wallet, with latest source from Graham ? It's the newest v.0.5 and with latest blockchain.
https://youtu.be/j6vvySW1Yw0

I did, it was working first but know it's just keep on closing before to load the interface...
it's like that with all the v0.5 that i tried.

I consider any exchange that doesn't rob me blind a good one.  Exchanges put our coins at risk of attacks from without and within.  I have been robbed at three exchanges.

Speaking of which, the end of the month promises to be dangerous for exchanges. Don't trade then unless you have to. Good luck to everybody.

gjhiggins, what do you think of that for Facebook cover? I used original logo so there wouldn't be any re-design, just an artwork based on current logo.

I will use on all social media - ok? It's great, really you know your job in this field Wink.
Maybe you could also create ico and jpg of only the logo?

Looks fine. May I use it for the wallet splash screen? Are there rights?

Of course you can use it anyway you like. Do you (or anybody else) have vector Slimcoin logo? I used png image from slimcoin.club and had to delete white color. It's a bit rough right now. I'd like to make it nice and smooth. If you don't have a vector I'll just make one. Shouldn't take too long.

Altcoins rely on two different types of consensus. The first type is the cryptographic consensus that must be created in order for the currency to function at all; the second type is the social consensus that is created by people choosing to hold the coin and/or run nodes. It is the social consensus that gives the cryptographic consensus its semantics, its meaning.

So, “official” this and “official” that are meaningless in the context of a cryptocurrency because no-one has the authority to stamp anything “official”. Or rather, anyone and everyone has the opportunity to stamp anything they want as “official” or make a claim to be “the official dev” but it carries no inherent authority, only that which it can engender by it own efforts. When it comes to p2p apps, the bottom line is that as soon as the source code is publicly released, no-one is ”in charge” of anything.

The witticism “herding cats” doesn’t even come in to it; people are completely free to do as they like: run a node, not run a node; hold coins, don’t hold coins; set up a foundation, a faucet, a business, promote the coin, fud the coin, set up webwallets, offer an alternative wallet design, provide off-chain features, pay to spam the blockchain, pay to clean up the blockchain, generously contribute to a faucet, mischievously drain a faucet dry.

An altcoin “community” is an egalitarian group of pseudonymous strangers. These are the ground conditions to which any altcoin community is obliged to accommodate itself when conducting its affairs.

The requirement for egality means that the only viable activity model is self-organisation. The requirement for pseudonymity means that the only sustainable relationship model is self-interested co-operation.

In short, it should work best if you do what you like for yourself but try to respect that a consensus exists.

You didn't read till the end

Yes I did. OS X has a /Library as well as a ~/Library for each user. Your message indicated that you used /Library, not ~/Library.

Cheers

Graham

In Users I have Guest, Dzarmush and Shared directories. There's no Library in my Dzarmush directory, only in Shared. Copying SLIMCoin in Shared didn't work.

UPD: Hold the Option key on your keyboard, and click the Go menu at the top of the screen. With the Go menu open, you'll notice that pressing and releasing Option will display or hide the Library choice in this menu.

So I've found right directory and it worked. Thanks a lot for the help! I can now help Mac users myself )
