I've seen people argue about how social media has been used to spread fake news about Cryptocurrency and someone even said it's killing Crypto cause lots of people have been scammed of their Cryptocurrency through links they come across on the media well my thought to that statement is that the media didn't force them to click on those links and they fell victim to scammers on the media due to ignorance or greed. Well even though the first statement might be right cause paid actors use the media to deceive people into wrong choices of crypto investments, however everything got it's disadvantage and benefits too.

True social media is a platform and being a platform it is a tool use for advertisement and spreading information and propaganda.  In my opinion it is right to say that social media is used for scams and other fraudulent activities but the platform itself is neutral since it can also be used to spread good things and correct information.  I think being scammed is not the social media platform's fault, it is the people who don't do their diligent research whenever they got interested on any  crypto investment venture.

Well, humans are prone to react negatively to certain things especially when they're the victims and some have even blamed the media for their carelessness, however it may be, the media has it's benefits to Cryptocurrency and has caused a recent mass adoption of Cryptocurrencies be it Bitcoin or Altcoins. For instance, Cryptocurrency is the new trend when it comes to finance and one the fastest ways to know about new trends is the social media.

As I stated, and I agree with you that it was the carelessness of people who are trapped and become victims of scams introduced in social media.  The same way social media is being used to scam people, it is also the platform that reminds people of scams and fraud that may take place on the platform.  In terms of information destination, social media platform is indeed of great help to the cryptocurrency industry because social media platforms have millions of users.

The social media has helped a lot of people by achieving what they didn’t expect, those that are classified a social media has place of generate fake news are those  that don’t have any idea or knowledge about the social media, if not they will not say that social is a place of spread a fakes news; because their are some that once they are into social media’s they will be click unnecessarily links that’s is why some peoples easily fall in victims of scammers.

Social medias have caused more damage than benefits to the legit portion of crypto industry and its enthusiasts. But without any doubts, it has also contributed positively in some aspects, especially for newbies who started their journeys from zero without any investments. Social media campaigns and airdrops played a big role and still do for some people, in order to allow them growing their wallets into substantial amounts of crypto, without having to necessarily invest from their own pockets.

And since it's a self-regulated industry, we can't really complain about the scams being promoted at social medias, as it's part of a decentralized environment where the responsability and awareness of each participant are essential for their survival here along the time.

But at the same time, social media is another way that made many people millionaires through cryptocurrency today. Why they did not also consider that one is to think they are just arguing because they don’t have knowledge about the cryptocurrency.

The thing is that many people are scammed due to greed; I won’t say ignorance, because when it comes to money, as long as you are going to put your hard-earned money into such things, research should be the first thing you will do. But Many people are not doing that, Once they get convinced that they will earn a huge amount of money, they will do it, and that is how many people get scammed; it is due to greed.
You made a valid point here. Because why would someone invest in a project they have not done proper research on, they allow quick money scheme to happen to them. Social media is a useful tool for cryptocurrency, it is used to pass vital information as well as host some of these airdrops on telegram that paid off like Dogs of recent.

Social media is not to be blamed if a project goes wrong or someone gets scammed because we need social media to communicate and we also need it to research facts for ourselves. And of course scammers will keep pulling up scam projects so its best to do be sure before you engage and invest in them to avoid sad stories afterwards.

I'd say that social media has really turned a lot of lives from nothing to something. And definitely we don't tolerate those that have the fire to spread FUD through them and they're paid for that. But let's remove that thing and aside from airdrops, too many opportunities have been made with it. It's also become a social marketplace. A market place for everything.

Everyone now can sell goods there aside from spreading crypto knowledge, trading, holding, altcoins, etc. So, it's the dream of Elon to have his X to be an all-in-one platform. There's the communication side, the contents from texts to videos and even reels which are the short video categories. Live selling is also there, so there's so much stuff that's being done by social media and it has benefited the entirety of humanity and we can definitely say that it has contributed a lot to the growth of crypto. Most news are there being published and if we don't like FUD, we always need to verify news that comes out from there.

Hamster Kombat the telegram game: https://www.econotimes.com/Hamster-Kombat-Surpasses-150-Million-Users-Claims-Third-Fastest-Growth-Record-1680552

Most numbers in social media, cannot be trusted.
if you believe you don't know, never forget that.
Beliefs are below an educated guess even,
Everyone must believe something new on a clear basis and also on a fairly real basis in order to have a better level of confidence in it or in the example you gave where it did go viral on various social media in the last few days of this year even though at this time it is still a little prominent. And I think you have also given quite appropriate advice besides an example that is easy to understand because on social media every thing that is truly pure must have proof and also clearer details before we believe it as a good thing.

in my opinion the real amount of hamster kombat active users probably only at the marks of 30 million. still a big number IMO, but telegram has been known for having big userbase even without ton blockchain so there's one thing to consider.

Another instance is the airdrop fever, the airdrop have been ongoing for years now but social media through telegram and Ton blockchain has caused a mass participation of airdrops lately compared to previous times and to crown it all, telegram which is one of the biggest social media platform have even got their own exchange and wallet where it's users can easily purchase Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.

I don't participate in airdrops and I don't care about shitcoins. Everyone wants to get something valuable for free, but life doesn't work that way. Getting worthless shitcoins via airdrops seems pathetic to me. I would rather do some actual work and get real money in return.
Social media has influenced almost everything in the human civilization during the last 15 years. The influence was both positive and negative.
The crypto world wasn't living in an isolated island, so it's normal to be influenced by the social media during the last several years.

I'm not a dreamer... But you can check this data. https://www.demandsage.com/telegram-statistics/

Hamster Kombat users are more than 200 million active users, especially now that many tap-tap games on Telegram are successful like Dogs yesterday and this has awakened the hype of other airdrops on Telegram.

You know it's possible that active users will increase every month.
never forget that there are so many hamster kombat farmer where they run thousands of telegram instance to just participate in the program, the people with the resource will definitely take advantage to create multiple accounts in telegram to participate in airdrop and steal the allocation so it isn't really accurate metrics, heck even average joe are farming hamster kombat using multiple phones, in my opinion the real amount of hamster kombat active users probably only at the marks of 30 million. still a big number IMO, but telegram has been known for having big userbase even without ton blockchain so there's one thing to consider.

moreover user who participate to these projects solely for airdrops aren't here for long, they'd ditch it whenever there's no opportunity anymore.

I really hope that many people are more responsible when using social media, because what we put on social media always has a digital footprint even though we have deleted it.

Ok back to the topic, Crypto currency since I saw the change in popularity in 2019 until now is indeed increasing, people today provide teaching about what crypto, blockchain, bitcoin, web3 and so on because bitcoin and crypto users are increasing so that it can be used as an option to increase insight on social media for those who understand.

And speaking of fraud, we just need to educate the newbies who are just entering, and I also see that the influencers who are really good and uphold this industry always give advice to their audience or readers, like what you and me do on the forum.

From the advancement of technology today, especially on social media, many people will know more about the latest information, about everything including crypto and its developments, everything becomes easier, that's why people understand it very quickly, unlike a few years ago they didn't understand crypto because progress wasn't as good as it is now.

The internet consists of webpages, which social media websites are a part of it—websites like dating apps, forums, and blogs, all contributes to crypto promotion and scam. Famous social media platforms where millions of people go to view breaking news, and entertaining contents, are only called out as the scape goat because they have a high number of crypto scam ploys on it. Furthermore, there are the traffic funnel to most crypto scam webpages.

Well most statistics forget the fact that there is no exclusive usage of social media. Even a Billion tiktok user use the internet to check webpages.
One can presume that every social media users also uses the www.

People don't go into social media to buy or take part of airdrops.

You have made out up to date statistics of social media users, but It's not clear to me where you're heading to with your point of view. However, I know that social media platforms consists of multitudes of people, and not a huge part of them partake in airdrops. Yet giveaways are not the only strategy that nearly all scam victims get extorted of their money.

People easily accept that pages with large fellowship are genuine, so the bad players use this weak point to sweep people's money through social media. It's simple to pull such tricks with fake impressions, backed up with ads, and people will get rolling asking for how to multiply their money 10 folds. In a nutshell, if it's too good to be true, quit it.

I wouldn't delve into this debate because it's a long topic and there are a lot of things to talk about when we get into social media + cryptocurrencies. However, one thing is clear, social media is one of the best ways to spread news in this era, and cryptocurrency projects are using this to their benefit to a large extent.

I can't help but agree with this. The recent trend about Telegram mini-bots have changed the dynamics of this industry completely. A lot of projects are turning their faces to Telegram and TON blockchain because they know that there is a lot of potential in there, projects are getting a lot of attention and engagement from people from all around the globe, and on top of it all, it's not that costly which means that if you start a project announcing an airdrop, you will start getting users very quickly with a few collaborations.

I can say that the hype in Telegram recently after the success of Notcoin and they have TON of coins as an ecosystem, now airdrop is growing rapidly in Telegram, imagine Telegram has 900 million users let's say 50% join the airdrop then this is definitely like a fast mass growth.

You are a dreamer. 900 million users is not 900 million active users.
I'd say it's like 200 million active users. And of those a 10% might be crypto interested. Seeing the "mass" adaption of wallets more like 5% but ok.

Most of my mates who like crypto only one hunts airdrops.
he does not use telegram.

This means that not always what is beneficial is not detrimental, social media makes information quickly conveyed to the corners of the world as well as the good and bad that comes with it, there are always pluses and minuses in an innovation that changes this world.

Social media will be very beneficial for people who are good at using it and he can filter all the fraud that occurs, and even become a place for people to make a living, on the other hand there are even people who fall into poverty because they are carried away by news on social media that makes them lose money, Social media brings crypto far more widely known by ordinary people in parts of the world I like it, it's just that fraud is also not small.

That's right, social media is actually a quick tool that makes information travel so fast. Taking for example, I believe we are aware of the recent case of Mark Zuckerberg in the court, repeating the judge statement,  "37% teenage girls of the age range 13-15 year old were exposed to some unwanted nude pictures on Instagram." I just opened my TikTok app yesterday and after scrolling for just a minute, the content popped up. The way the social media has the capital to spread good information faster, that's also how fast it can spread scam. No doubt.

I really hope that many people are more responsible when using social media, because what we put on social media always has a digital footprint even though we have deleted it.

Indeed, airdrop blew up recently due to social media adoption, a lot of people including myself got into raindrop this year. And I can only imagine how much certain people who have known the game of airdrop before social media blew it up have made from it.

he does not use telegram.

According to their own data on the telegram site they have recorded over 700 million active users with the number heavily increasing over the last three months and this can only points to one thing which is that most of the new members are there because of the raise of the tap tap airdrops on the platform. We cannot say that the whole 700 million are actually engaging into crypto but at least the number is more than 10%. There is this particular airdrop called the Hamster Kombat on telegram that actually recorded over 280 million users monthly on the airdrop, this means that even their own number of users already is above 20%.

But mind you this number to me isn’t relatively relating the actual real users there as one person can have multiple accounts mostly for farming of the airdrops and it is actually what I think is the reason for the increase in the number of downloads and register users.
telegram has 950 million users as the track record of july 2024, it's rapidly growing because in telegram airdrops is trending, millions of peoples joining with new account, but 950 users are not active users, hamster kombat is big one in airdrop but i seen in their communities total 50-60 millions subscribers and there mostly multi accounts.

Scammers are always been in the social media world even from the first day, it allows you to connect to the whole world, and crypto made it easy for payments to happen too, before crypto it was mostly paypal, and gift cards as well, nowadays those still exist but crypto is becoming much bigger and I think that is why it looks like it's a bigger deal than what it is.

Just adhere to a few rules. Just free to use social media accounts no reputable company will go for that.
Websites under 2 years? Have a look if their company is registered and how much capital they put.

To be honest I could agree with you the fake news about crypto is crazy frenn even scammer is spotted on social media like Twitter and Instagram and they buy verified accounts just to lure a user to click their phishing link and these another level of hack in my opinion.

But I also spotted a new youtube account or Instagram reels, tiktok that ask their user to play airdrop like the famous notcoin and dogs
Unfortunately that's true, there are a lot of people who buy reputable accounts here too, and spam shitty tokens just to make money. Telegram is the worst of them all, there are telegram channels that act as if places that suggests good income tokens to invest into, and they end up making terrible judgment calls in return of some money they take from the projects.
