Citizens of Europe and the U.S. have been 'liberated' from traditions, moral values and higher ideals to become hedonists and addicts. Why?

Quote
The mass acceptance of Freud's thought has done a lot of damage. It has led people to think of sexual desire in terms of sexual need. Notice a sexual desire can be controlled, but a sexual need is a need.. like food and shelter etc.

Freud burrowed down below the conscious person, what he termed the Ego, to uncover what he called the Id. the Id was our natural self, and the ego was just our conflict between that natural self and society, which he in turn called the super-ego. Following Marx, Freud thought that all morality and culture was arbitrary, and further, that it represented the control and repression of our natural instincts. Now think of Freud's ideas infecting the rest of the planet.

I think there is an element of truth in Freud [the repression of sex that came with Protestant and puritan countries], but the problem comes when it is itself elevated in an ideology. Today people think it is their right to act on their sexual impulses. they see this as more fundamental [more real] than the moral constraints which would otherwise hold them back.

We think of ourselves as liberated today, and part of that liberation is our sexuality. At the public and intellectual levels of life, the official line is we should all be out and proud about our sexuality in order to live a happy and fulfilling life. This orthodoxy will only begin to be questioned in a generation's time when the wheels start to fall off.

So what promotes pornography?
Pseudo-science - the real you is the biological one.
Economics - It's great for the market and consumption...sex sells.
Politics - No better way to control a population than dumb it down and get it addicted.
Human nature - concupisence

Why is today society a sex culture???

What do you think?

It's very complex issue and you can't explain it with Freud only, or psychology or science.
If you research different sources, you will find out that society have sexual problem since the very beginning, from first human ancestors.
So, it's not problem of modern world but very ''old'' problem from ancient history.
Bible gave very interesting insight in this issue.
Do you remember story about Adam and Eve?
They was first human ancestors, lived in the garden of evil, and, as book of Genesis said, was naked but didn't feel any shame.
The first consequence of sin, when they ate the fruit, was a sense of shame because they were naked and they covered their sexual parts.
Very interesting, isn't it?
Why they didn't cover their mouth or hands, because they ate the fruit with their mouth and hands?
Instead, they covered their sexual parts and felt the shame because they was naked.
Very interesting isn't it?
Don't you think that snake, in its shape, looks like a male sex organ?
Apple, the fruit that Adam and Eve have eaten, have the shape of heart (love), isn't it?
In Peter's book in the Bible, the sin of angels is very well explained.
It's sex, of course.
Sex is the biggest issue in human history, never resolved, root of all other problems, corruption, evil, hatred etc.
So, sexual problem exist since the beginning of human existence, even among angels, and, as you can see, still destroying human relationships and foundations of society until today.

I think sex education is important for young people so there is no transmission of diseases like aids and abortion. because many countries such as Asian countries are abortion due to a lack of understanding about sex education

I believe that now there is a lot of debauchery in the world that leads to different diseases. Even a condom does not always protect against this. People need to think with their heads before they have sex, and not be like an animal.
Sex has been important since the beginning of the world, sex shouldn't be vilified at all because everyone is having it. People in the bible times were taking three and more wives and even had concubines on the side,God really doesn't have anything against sex except when it's an adulterous relationship. Care must be taken so that one does not contract any dangerous disease which abounds in the world now.

Sex sells and in a capitalist society, selling is how things work. I have no problem with people sleeping around. It is their life. If they were responsible enough, then they'd spare future sexual partners STIs. If not, then they'll suffer eventually.

Rather have people freely having sex than them going around raping others. Just look at repressive countries, the locals usually end up targeting migrant workers to bust their load... And those societies are not even "liberated" as the US and Europe. Our country send plenty of workers abroad. Years ago one got abducted while waiting for a taxi. And he's a guy. He was found days later in the desert (where abuse victims are often dumped to die), unconscious, badly beaten and raped.
