I personally think this item is very cool because it is so rare and relative "unknown".
Congrats to the new owner!

Making a counter offer to an offer is simply good business.

I'm always open to opinions or suggestions. It will be interesting to see what the market is currently willing to pay for one of these, I might be way off base.  Smiley

Yes, I am sure it sold on the high end for the bar you know of.

I agree that it's great business.

I believe you will get what you want for the bar.  Smiley

You purchased them?

Several unfunded bars have sold for around 5BTC. I don't think that's an unreasonable premium for a 1 of 8 Casascius.

The most recent public sale is: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/closed-casascius-ms68-casascius-bar-lealana-1171146 that sold in less than two days for 5BTC.

around 5BTC != 5BTC
Saying something was sold doesn't mean he got 5BTC.

Also, 5BTC less than 2 months ago would have been on target with my offer, but the BTC price has gone up since then.  Issue is you are comparing cash sale vs bitcoin sales now.

If you want 5BTC, then stick to your guns and get it.   Asking for 5BTC and then entertaining an offer of 3.5 is confusing.   I was offering cash like everyone else, but if BTC, I would have offered more.  (Not as much as mindtrip did though.)  Smiley

I hope you get what you want.

I'm well aware but I happen to know that it sold for the asking price in this case.

I apologize for starting the thread out with a fiat value, I was simply continuing the conversation started by bithalo. I am all in BTC personally and value all of my purchases and sales on this forum in BTC. It is easier that way since the fiat value can fluctuate so quickly especially when trying to compare historic sale prices. This forum is one of the few closed BTC systems and I like it that way.

I am not entertaining the idea of selling for 3.5BTC but if someone is willing to offer 3.5BTC perhaps there is some middle ground that can be found such as 4.5BTC + shipping. Making a counter offer to an offer is simply good business.

thinking of putting a price on it, but wondering why the price bidding is lower than a bought "void" .5BTC brass coin....just dont know how to value this with not many sales.

watching for now

Good question.  There 'may' have been around 12 void coins made, but of them, there are likely fewer still around that didnt get lost, thrown out, etc.  Maybe 6 left, give or take.

There were 8 of these bars made, all of which likely still remain intact, due to the fact they're unfunded and they were made about a year or so ago.

They're both very rare items and difficult to price without other previous sales.  But for reference, bitguy101 was selling his remaining non 2FA bars for about $1699 on ebay, and they all sold.  The rarer 2FA bar (only 4 made) sold for $1999 each.

Oh wow, I came back to quite the bidding war!  Grin

The bar is still in the plastic wrapping. The assumption is that there are no finger prints or scratches with the protective wrapping still on the bar unless they are from Mike himself.

Considering that all of the bars sold for $1699 and are exceedingly rare that is probably around what I'm looking for. I think that 5BTC is a fair price.

Have there been other sales recently??

I know there were 2 on ebay a while back, but I do not think they sold.
They were priced around $2000.  Shocked

Yes, about 2+ months ago.
The ones on ebay were $1500 and $1600.   They did not sell on ebay.  Seller did sell them privately, but don't know the amount, and I did offer significantly less.  (The confusion people have is ebay drones might actually think they are funded and overbid.)

I don't understand, why would it be sold 2k$? What is the point of buying that at such a price?  Shocked

There isn't a point.  It's just a high priced piggy bank in which you might as well get a bearer bar since these say 100BTC on them.  You wouldn't want to put more or less since it indicates 100BTC, although I doubt anyone would even put any coins into it.  So, it's a piggy bank that no one would actually use.

I concur with Michail but offer 900 Smiley
I would up my offer, but honestly, that is what I offered on the ebay coins.  So, without this being an auction and can't see the bar yet, I will not offer more.  Smiley

More void coins made than bars.   People like coins better since they can be graded (encased).  No one really wants an unfunded 100BTC bar since they nearly have to put 100BTC in it to be called funded.  Many reasons.   VOID coins were made public and fewer people know about the bars.  Problem with pricing on the bars is that only one person got them so no real public sales.  One buyer having all of one thing means they are pretty much worthless and priceless.  He is/was smart to sell off to various people as it puts value into as being obtainable.   Various other reasons.

$775  (Just to get in on the thread)

Of course this isn't firm and I want to see actual pictures.   I am not interested if removed from plastic, fingerprints, scratches, dings, and obviously if the sticker is removed.
