You need to check prices. $380 for the big bang at newegg. I would offer you for the big bang MB and for 8, 5870 $1500.

2 of those are the Radeons with the aftermarket-style fan, it may be an original Sapphire but it doesn't have the glorious turbine fan.

The other one has a turbine, but it's more like an ancient 8800 GTX-style, I think Dell computers that came with 5850s would have received a card like that.  Certainly not reference.

I had one of those 5850s, and mined with no issues. It's def not a reference board, but I liked the blower style coolers. I believe mine was out of an Acer or a Gateway, I never could tell...

THATS a 5850? O_o I got a "5850" from someone on ebay that looked like that, but it detected as a 4850.

Yep. Like was mentioned before, it was prolly an OEM card from an Acer or a Gateway. It didn't OC all that well, IIRC, but I ran them undervolted, so no issues.

Which one would you rather have?  Show me a reference 5850 for $100 on eBay.

I would give you 45 coins for all 5 of the 5850s. They go for $100 USD on ebay all day long.

how many cards have you had running in the MSI? and which model cards
I've had all eight slots populated with 5870s and it's godly.  Using BAMT 0.5a 64-bit.

Here's a screenshot of 8 GPUs enabled

This screenshot shows 7 cards, one of them is a 5970 so 8 GPUs BUT I have ran the Big Bang with 8 5870s and it runs great!

hubba hubba. whats the max # of dual core gpu's like 5970's you think?

I believe ATI's drivers cap out at 8 GPU cores, so 4 dual GPU cards like the 5970 would be max.
