Yes, most people use plastic capsules.
The diameter is indeed 40 mm and thickness 3 mm.
Same dimensions as the famous Satori Chips, maybe 1 or 2 10th of a mm thinner.

I have contacted the manufacturer and will keep you updated as soon as I have more info.
@Jan: A 0.01 loading seems more suited for silver coins to me. I think the reasoning for the low loading is: - Good way to use as a tiny giveaway gift. Also, if BTC starts to gain in value again, the chips will still stay affordable with the 0.001 BTC denomination.
