Hi, Thanks for the information. This is really helpful. I was confused which thread is useful and which one is not. There must be a guide for the new comers.
The treads that's being started by new comers must be reviewed by mods.

the same old newbie will become a legendary member one day, moderation and review is not the thing which we do here, this platform itself moderates with its structure.

There are many threads being created by members which are less than useful to anyone. Threads like  Bitcoin hitting 65k , bitcoin touching 70k, bitcoin surpassing 65k   so on and so on. These threads serves less or no purpose. A better thread would discuss recent fluctuations in bitcoin, why is it happening and predictions. Something meaningful and valuable should be discussed in thread. Sometimes threads are created just to increase the activity by posting some bitcoin sites or newspaper article. Such threads most of the time have 0 reply.

Deleted Off Topic Post as reported.

That was quite speedy Benson, I see you have time for some things but not for others.
Well done to you. Amazing work! Applause.

I see how quickly you delete stuff that regard you but don't bother with others that have also been reported.
That was a test to prove my point.

There is still a thread here that shouldn't exist as it's a repeat of another thread and merely trolling, are you doing anything about that?

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/trestor-a-confirmed-cryptocurrency-scam-part-ii-1112771

Yes, I always act fast when am around.
I told you that I would be setting any of your reports to ignore and someone else could pick up on them.
Am saying it publicly as well, knowing that action to be within my rights.

For Indian forum , we can add many other threads. Since the indian economy is gaining interest of the global market, the popularity is increasing and more people are aware of the things going around, which can serve a good response to the forum.

yeah sure, any new ideas in mind?

No bad feelings Benson, just want to point out that things could have been handled better by yourself.
It's sad to see that a company who has many Indian people on the team has now decided not to post any longer in the Indian Subforum.
That is because of the amount of organized trolling experienced and the lack of support from Admins and Moderators.

Well done. I wish you guys all the best. In the name of Bitcoin and cryptocurrency hail to the Indian Subforum: the place where if you mess with the mod you suddenly get the whole community against you.
An applause to you all.  Smiley Cheesy Grin

Its not just here that people have not agreed to you'll, but on every social media/ public news outlet.
Even other sections on the forums have seen a lot of unconvinced onlookers, so don't pin this on the community here.

As from the post I made above the new thread is:

- trolling
- pointless
- annoying. There should not be too many topics about the same thing in a short time period. (and there is a specific, official thread to post to for questions about Trestor: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/ann-trestor-the-most-efficient-money-payment-and-market-system-in-the-world-890008)
- Respect everyone, It's all about Karma! (enough said)

There is an official thread for Trestor there is no need for another thread which is there merely to accuse someone of being a SCAM.
If you don't take action and you wash your hands of the issue then I don't believe you should be a mod of this subforum.
You should resign and get someone else that at least will look into the situation, someone with more time to moderate.

Of course it all goes back to previous personal issues, I don't blame you to have a biased opinion and are reluctant to change things.
You may even enjoy seeing a new thread with SCAM written in the title.

And is there a need for it when another thread has been closed after the same questions were answered?
Funny that you don't see this.

Don't think you read this

Quote
Here is another bit of rules from the global Alt-Coin section. These are hints and suggestions, not rules.
Quote
Q: Do you moderate/delete (possible) FUD, accusations and untrue information?
A: No. We don't have enough time to check every single piece of information and verify the validity of the sources. Also, just like scams - too much room for bias and abuse.

I did resign from your problem and I have left it to any other mod who has time to involve. We have an Ignore button on reports that get sent to other mods.
My duties of mod of the subforum are different - Not to delete threads that have been seen or to arbitrate others businesses.
OP had mentioned that he will unlock that thread, so if that does not happen in the next 24 hours, that thread is gone.

At best, I can move the thread to the main forums Scam accusations section, and you'll can hammer it out there. I obviously have no control of mod events there, so you can be assured that I am not involved or involving in this.
Even now, I am not. You seem to have some personal problem with me and it just shows.

Dear Benson, I know you are a reasonable man, you have proven that before. Do you think after I pointed out the issues with that thread it deserves to exist?

Reasonable as I am, I have already mentioned that I will be ignoring reports from your side of the coin. And I have.
I do see that someone else has locked the old thread.

Are you asking me to delete a thread?

Here is another bit of rules from the global Alt-Coin section. These are hints and suggestions, not rules.
Quote
Q: Do you moderate/delete (possible) FUD, accusations and untrue information?
A: No. We don't have enough time to check every single piece of information and verify the validity of the sources. Also, just like scams - too much room for bias and abuse.

I tried to help from a personal request point of view to take out some time, but things started to get too darn time consuming, personal and distracting, hence I will not continue with that.

Besides, now I have no Idea what to do for you'll. The OP's have made posts, engaged in discussions and are still creating posts with their own reason. It is not upto me, but OP to change his mind if his problem is sorted. Skang did change his thread title. I did not have anything to do with that, so not sure as to why you have called at me again.
We do remove threads that scream SCAM for no reason, but OP seems to have given his reason for this here.
Quote
But, we can not allow the Trestor scam just because the promoters are son of some rich people. So, I decided to continue the thread. This thread will be open as soon as skang locks the original one...
Not sure what that means, but since you have been reporting these posts, you can rest assured that some Global Mod has been looking into this as well, as I just Ignore these reports.

And NO, I will not delete threads or get involved in advising OP. Last time I tried involving and it simply wasted a whole load of my time.

This thread is not for discussions like this. You are posting on as many threads as possible and some of them are in very off-topic areas like the section here.

Quote
Imagine if I get a ton of people to start accusing each one of the projects on this subforum, including exchanges, of being a SCAM.
Post several threads, lock them and leave them there for everyone to see. How would you feel about it?

This is why you'll eeeek out people here with these threats.

Yes that is true. So a combination of activity value and post count on their profile is a better combination of info to judge than just post count.

You are forgetting trust system. You can't Judge/trust peoples with just postcount and activity.

The only thing missing from the statement above is 'Use Escrow'. Trust ratings, bans, abuses etc count for crap once the con has happened.

So I'm brand new to this forum, actually this is my first post to an internet forum period.
I can not reply to a lot of the the group buys i want to and it is because of this member ranking system?
I understand that there is a community here and this is a good way to build trust and regulate spammers, but..
Where exactly are the newcomers expected to post when they can't post to a topic that drew them into the forum to begin with?

theymos has been discussing removing the newbie restrictions, but I have not seen that happen as yet.

For now, this is the best regulated model that we can afford. Maybe in the next few updates, we should see the restrictions dropped.

I have some conerns about this new activity value policy and i just doubt to what extent these formulas can do justice.
1. It is not possible for any one to have a activity value much more than number of days elapsed since registration no matter how much really you are active
2. If two people are competing for a higher activity value and say the first guy has 50 activy and second one has 200 activity. It is impossible for the first guy to over take second guy until the second guy skips posting for many number of two-week periods.

OR am i missing something?

There is also "post count", which is different from activity and can be viewed on clicking the member's name.

High recent posts were being misused to increase the ranking. That is why there is a change and the registration date has taken precedence.

From what I have seen, by being active and helping/ trading with people, your reputation gets far better than an activity.

But no, you are not missing anything.

Hope it stops people from Spamming to Hero stat.
The formula creates no incentive for posting more than once a day (avg over two weeks), but even two posts per day would incentivize people to spam two posts per day in order to inflate their score. Activity seems to be resistant to manipulation, but not representative of all of a person's contributions. Only a legit poster would still keep posting above 1 post per day.

Even if he has a LOT to say ?

This moves the onus of trust a bit away from the forum. As we know for a fact, the Hero member badge has been abused quite a bit due to spamming.
Trust is not really to be based on a rank or a number but more on the reputation of a person. The new activity ratings show a more robust performance indicator of people in the long run. Anyone who stays around for that long, would have already built up a reputation and would not need a 'score' to justify their trustworthiness.

I do hope that made sense.

Please do note the new updates to the member ranking on the forum. They have put in place due to the number of scammers and spammers getting involved in trading.

Very cool indeed!

Quote
The activity number is determined in this way:
time = number of two-week periods in which you've posted since your registration
activity = min(time * 14, posts)

Activity is updated every 30 minutes.

The new membergroup limits work like this:
Group   Requirement
Brand New   0 posts
Newbie   (none)
Jr. Member   1 post written over 4 hours ago

Forum moderation policy
June 21, 2011, 02:02:54 AM

The policy to not remove anything worked when the forum was small. Now that we have thousands of posts a day, we can't afford 50% of them being junk. The moderators are now instructed to be less tolerant of low-value posts.

Some guidelines:

1. Free speech - you can say anything as long as it is relevant and presented in a calm and polite manner. Swearing, SHOUTING etc. make your post more likely to be removed.
2. No zero value posts or threads, like "SELL SELL SELL"
3. No pointless or uninteresting threads.
4. No referral code spam
5. No NSFW content

As we seem to be growing quite well, few notes need to be be added for a smooth community to be built.

All new members please take the time to read https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/newbie-readme-177133, this explains the functions of the forum.

(Taken from Mod hints - Theymos)
Some hints:
- No embedded NSFW images anywhere.
- No discussion of how to find illegal trading sites. Discussion about the sites is OK.
- If you find an embedded image to be annoying, please report the post and I will turn it into a link instead of an embedded image.
- No off-topic posts. (This also covers spam.)
- No trolling.
- Topics should be in the correct section.
- Topics should not be pointless.
- Topic creation should not be annoying. There should not be too many topics about the same thing in a short time period, and individuals should not   post too many topics. "Too many" depends on the quality of the topics.
- Respect everyone. Its all about Karma!  Grin

Please feel free to add any suggestions to this before we lock it.
