Thank you for sharing your important tips with the community's other newbies. It is critical that we follow the rules and regulations of the forum in order to preserve its standards and reputation. I agree with your advice on generating high-quality material, avoiding plagiarism, and researching cryptocurrencies well before investing. It's admirable that you're sharing your insights and experiences in order to assist others avoid costly blunders. Keep up the fantastic job, and I'm confident that your efforts will benefit the community.
Following the forum rules is one of the quickest way to grow without any much efforts. It is important we learn the rules and follow it because this would be a better ways to understand the forum. If newbies can take a close look on this post they would understand that it is of importance to follow rules in every community to stay there for long. Most time I do see people complaining of not getting enough merits to rank up but merely one can write more post to qualify for post ranking and also get merits.
Keeping rules is always the number one assessment to do after signing in a new platform, this rules are the terms and conditions that must be obeyed, it is not negotiable whether you reject and leave or continue and face the consequences, but when a person agrees then it should be kept accordingly as requested. The forum isn't difficult as most newbies especially explain it to be, ones a user here is creative and constructive then his stay would be quite an easy one and would increase his rank without much stress.

when it comes to forum, no copy and paste is allowed even if you provide the link.

Actually, copy-paste is allowed on this forum.  You can even use the Insert Quote button when referencing something.  Though, posts lacking meaningful content are not allowed.  If you just copy a chunk without your own spin, thoughts or views, thats pretty low value and insubstantial, and mods will probably delete it.

All your points are absolutely nice and carried but your second point is still somehow I will like you to throw my light if you can because the word plagiarism means to copy one's word without the person's permission but come to think of it in school they usually gave assignment, project and most of them require browsing and searching so after searching those words, we  copy what another person has said some time ago and when writing our project will have a reference page where we reference those things we have searched without seeking for the author's permission. So if  I May ask what will you call this case, to me if anyone wants plagiarize the person should add link or reference to where the thing is coming from.
Plagiarism is Plagiarism even if references are added.

Academic researches gives room for copied content with reference because all the researches has been previously done by other people before now, so you have to go through people’s work to create your own; when it comes to forum, no copy and paste is allowed even if you provide the link.
The forum aim is to share genuine information based on your understanding and you can quote any information you see necessary for the forum by making reference to the link.
Avoid copy and paste and focus on learning.

Just my 2 cents...

Forum is not necessarily for posting, keep reading as much as you can then only we can gain information which will lead us to better understanding of cryptocurrency, bitcointalk, blockchain, finance, investment, etc...

So newbies just focus on gaining knowledge the results will come to you for your efforts towards the betterment of our forum.
As far as someone is new in any place, I think one of the best ways for him to succeed in that particular place is to be patient. Yes, they said the patient dog eats the fattest bone. So we newbies should try as much as possible to be patient and don't feel so in a haste to make money. such attitude of been patient is an attitude of successful people. let's imitate them.

I think am also in support of this advice of deviating from any kind of plagiarism. Is better for us to write what we have knowledge of. And even if you want to quote someone, make sure you mention the person with reference.  If not, you have done what we call plagiarism. Plagiarism is also types of stealing, and stealing is not good.

As online gambling grows in popularity, more and more beginners are trying their luck at the virtual tables. While it can be a fun and potentially lucrative hobby, there are some common mistakes that new players make that can quickly turn their experience into a costly one. beginners make entry into a game without fully understanding the rules. Another common mistake beginners make is chasing losses. This means continuing to play in the hopes of winning back money that has been lost. They also select the wrong casino for gambling. Beginners also do not take advantage of bonuses and promotions.

I'd like to take this opportunity to share some very important advice with my fellow newcomers in this community, because since joining, I've learned a lot and gained some experience, and I'm confident that if my fellow Newbies get it right, the forum will be the best place they've ever been.

* As a newcomer to bitcoin/cryptocurrency and this community, you must abide by the forum's rules and regulations. This is why the vast majority of newcomers visit these forums only to leave once they realize they can't follow the forum's rules and regulations; whereas the rules are laid out to have a standard forum, protect the forum from any obstacles, and maintain the forum's reputation.

* Some people believe that these forums are simply places where we can come and succeed in life if we participate in them. This is not the case; if you come here expecting to make quick money, you may end up not learning much in the forum, and you won't be able to enjoy a better investment in bitcoin without the fundamental knowledge.

Some basic tips we beginners need to take into consideration to avoid costly mistakes

1. High quality post: One of the most important skills to learn in these forums is how to write meaningful content. If you can't write good content as a newcomer, you would be considered a shitposter in the forum and end up with nothing in your posts. I'm still not sure what a quality post is because there's so much content on this topic with different definitions. All I can say is that we beginners should avoid spamming by making our content meaningful.

2. Plagiarism: As we all know, plagiarism is unacceptable anywhere, including bitcointalk.org. If you do plagiarism and they catch you, you will be permanently banned, regardless of your forum rank, and this is what is affecting those of us who are new to the forum. Most of the time, we fail to read the forum rules until we commit an offense and are punished; Therefore, beginners need to avoid Plagiarism.

3. Inadequate understanding of cryptocurrency: The majority of newcomers to cryptocurrency do not understand it well enough to profit from it. If you don't understand how cryptocurrency works, you risk losing your assets quickly. You must learn from the forum thoroughly before investing in Bitcoin or cryptocurrency in order to reduce risk.

Finally, I intend to create this thread based on the little experience I have gained from the forum. I decided to share the mistakes I have observed we beginners making that have been affecting us in the forum.
I welcome corrections and additional suggestions.

You are absolutely right, the 3 important tips that you convey can cover several mistakes that are still often made by beginners in this forum.
Maybe I'll try to add based on my thoughts and experiences too.

1. Don't be lazy to read and understand.
Often beginners only read the existing rules at a glance without understanding the meaning of the rules, even though the rules are very clear in my opinion. But most of them are still not appropriate or violate the rules that have been set.

2. Get into the habit of using forum searches.
Sometimes there are still some beginners making posts but have pre-existing questions or statements.
Sometimes I think this is useful if indeed the previous thread is far hidden by thousands of other threads.
But sometimes there are several threads that were just made today with the same discussion and points as the threads that were just made yesterday by other members.
At least if we want to create a thread with the same discussion, we have to look for a different point of view than the previous thread.

3. Don't expect to get merit quickly.
Often beginners instill the thought of quickly getting merit to quickly be able to rank up to take part in signature campaigns, but if they fail they will be disappointed and stop contributing.
In my opinion, this kind of thinking must be thrown away because it will make us often disappointed and give up easily.

4. The quantity of posts is necessary but also must prioritize quality.
Sometimes there are some beginners who make lots of less important posts in the hope that they can get merit each post.
Sometimes beginners will open posts with basic questions that are already in the rules that are made or that don't fit the topic board.
So often their posts end up being diverted off-topic or even deleted by moderators, and this will make them disappointed themselves and blame that this forum is not friendly to beginners.

5. Don't be discouraged.
If you have no knowledge of cryptocurrencies at all, don't be discouraged. This forum was indeed created to increase beginner's knowledge with various existing discussion topic boards.
Don't be discouraged or insecure because in this forum there are no provisions prohibiting beginners who have no knowledge of crypto at all from joining.
Don't be discouraged if you haven't got merit, what must be done is to increase our knowledge so that we can follow existing discussions or make good posts someday. In this forum there are also several senior members who care about the development of beginners and open several threads to help increase the rank of beginners voluntarily, by submitting our best posts or comments, of course.
The method is very easy, it's just that you have to comply with the terms and conditions made by several members in the thread they made.

Maybe that's a few additions from me according to my experience and journey in this forum. If something is wrong, please correct it and ask for justification so as not to cause misunderstandings for other beginners.

You made a great post and this post will never count as a shit post because everything valuable to community members is not considered a shit post. So I hope this will cover your confusion of what's shit post? Plagiarism is not prohibited but copying and pasting posts here and then claiming they are mine, that's against the rules.

To circumvent this, like if you want to write the same words as others then make a quote and provide a reference link to that quote.
You can check the profile of Hydrogen and Flexystar, I have seen there most of the posts are copied but they do not claim it is theirs while they properly quote them and provide a source link.

Thirdly, it's not necessary to have full or adequate knowledge of crypto to enter this forum but if you are not making a post to ask the question then adequate knowledge is necessary otherwise it looks like spam to increase activity or rank maybe.

I want to add a fourth factor to your list and that is the usage of AI content writer to generate Content and then share them here , newcomers should prohibit this activity because it includes in the list of harming the reputation of this forum and if you ask me where's the list, is in my mind. So everything harming the forum's reputation is restricted to be used.

In third-world nations, plagiarism is not a serious matter even in university, college, research articles or business companies.
In forum globally, Bitcoin talk forum is a most serious forum about plagiarism but unfortunately plagiarism cases nowadays tend to be handled considerably softer than the past especially in 2018 or 2019.
This is true. Nobody even bothers to check the papers in my university back in the days when written homeworks were a common activities. Not sure if other sites like Facebook and Reddit handles plagiarism differently, but surely some subs in Reddit related to writing enforce those kind of rules (cause why not?)

That is because no one is going after those students who plagiarize other works while professors are lazy checking the content for plagiarism.  Or most probably the works have references and state the sources of the information written on the homework.

Plagiarism is a serious thing because you can be sued and got jailed or penalized depending on the amount of damage done to the original owner.  Now tell me if plagiarism isn't a serious matter why it is punishable by law?

Then we can say that they are in bad school because they hire lazy professor to teach there children. Also they cannot correct the mistake made by their students.

But honestly so far never heard this since what I almost read from my professor friends actually caught some of their student doing such action and been called out for what they do. Plagiarism should be corrected while its early because maybe those student who do that can bring this attitude to more higher level and might this could put them in danger.

I have been reading on the background and studying the forum and also contributing in the little way that I can, one thing that I know about this forum is if you are here with a positive mind you are really going to make it far, but if you come here with the mindset of scamming then you will get what you want that's a permanent ban or a red-tag.
Plagiarism is also one thing that everyone should take note of and avoid doing.
I prefer to say a few words than to copy a bunch of works that I will get me into more trouble than I could ever imagine.

Stay clean, remain gentle and you will see that this forum is a cool place to learn.

Everyone on this forum started as a beginner, in time many will adjust, but that is if they want to improve on themselves, those who don't ready the rules on the forum easily get banned, if you go through the rules you won't try to copy-paste anything you see online on the forum, I still can't figure out why many people are on this forum because it's clear that not everyone is here to learn about crypto if that is the case why break the rules, why engage in plagiarism.

Live with peace and enjoy life!
Some people believe that these forums are simply places where we can come and succeed in life if we participate in them. This is not the case

For the fact that you're not into ponzi schemes doesn't mean you cannot still make it in life on a quicker track through this forum, this platform is the only community I've ever seen that guide one through a right path in life because you learn here in different aspects, you build a career here, you participate in a campaign if you so wish, you meet people and relate, you got exposed to the real world here because this platform constitute every potential and positive thoughts thinking people allover the world with a common goal, which is bitcoin and many other opportunities that may come through that while being on the forum.
The forum has nothing to do with our success, it’s the potentials within us that we should develop and help them enhanced through the forum’s reliable members. And when we start developing them, we should also learn from other people’s experiences in the forum as we can learn a lot of them especially in making us more confident in facing our mistakes and correcting them.

All your points are valid, thanks for that, and in addition, it's good for all to be sure that they are natural and not chase anything. Do not post when you should not post, by forcing it, one is bound to make one or two mistakes.

Also, there is no excuse for plagiarism and not knowing the field you want to discuss about. And I believe that the issue of the low-quality posts is in two categories, there are some that are poor in the English language, while some are just in a hurry to make a post. The former is forgivable since they are not good in the language, and when one reads their writeup, it should be easily detected.

While the latter is so bad, in doing so, they will only be reducing their reputation which is not worth it. So why the post?
These are common mistakes that all of us have experienced. And one thing that is certain, we can never correct them if we never learn from our mistakes, and by thorough research and gaining experience day by day, we will overcome all these mistakes. It’s just a matter of patience and having the diligence to learn everyday, as learning never stops either from our researches or from the positive insights shared by forum members.

This is one thing that may be very difficult to do, not only by beginners but also for many members here. A qualified post must include several criteria. Some people may have a good understanding abut cryptocurrency, but cannot utter clearly explanation and write in this forum. Some beginners may not really know about cryptocurrency, but they are registered here by only asking how to be good here, without any efforts to be better. It may be related also to habit, in which some beginners may only focus on the purpose only, but not be willing to be better in trying. Some of us forget how to utter and make quality posts moreover if we are here only to fulfill the task and requirement for posting. And some newbies only focus on posting, not the quality.

No dream is too big and no dreamer is too small
In order to succeed here as beginner, You must be open minded person who is open to take corrections , you must be willing to unlearn old things, relearn and learn new things, because there are some information you got out there which are not the rightful information and Satoshi created this forum for proper Information and knowledge about Bitcoin.
Most of us here started gradually by learning, improving along the line and are still learning as we go because each day we learn new things .... Learning never stops.
Mistakes are inevitable especially for beginners as they are still in the learning process, and if they fail to absorb them correctly, they will continue to repeat the same mistakes again. That is why for beginners to succeed in the forum, we should be more open to new ideas and insights, as that will guide and lead us through the process. But complete learning will not happen in an instant, it will take a lot of time making DYOR and sometimes, it even let us to create an experience first before we can finally say that we understand the market well and how these cryptocurrencies work in the market.

It will not be so easy for beginners to fulfill this condition. The quality of the posts will directly depend on the background of the person. If this is not the case, then it is almost impossible to create high quality posts and this will have to be learned. I will not say that this is a super-difficult task, but depending on the abilities of people, it will take a different amount of time to master. Everything new is always something to learn. So, for many beginners, writing low-quality posts is almost inevitable and they all have to go through this path on their own. Someone will improve, but someone will not be able to and will abandon the forum (or become a shitposter).
We cannot expect from beginners to create a high quality post because their knowledge is still limited. But along with time, when they already understand cryptocurrency completely and how it’s market works, then they will start to bargain their knowledge and create highly meaningful post along with their past crypto experiences. That way, they can always create a good impact to other forum members and consider themselves significant contributors in the forum.

2. Plagiarism: As we all know, plagiarism is unacceptable anywhere, including bitcointalk.org.
Seriously plagiarism is really a great offense here, you can't just copy other people's work and post it as your own, if you see any post that you think worth posting on the forum here and it's not your post, just make sure you add source link to the post before posting and you can also quote the post to be at safer size. Nobody will ban you if you add source of where you copied the post.
Most of the time, we fail to read the forum rules until we commit an offense and are punished
I think that's one of the problem most newbies are always having, they are always too lazy to read the forum rules, why will you join a forum and you notice the forum is having rules and regulations and you won't go through it, it's not really making sense to me, the first thing I believe newbies should do immediately they join the forum is to read the rules and regulations.

It is true that some newcomers do not bother to read the forum rules and regulations before engaging in forum activities, which is very wrong because they may commit an offense that they did not consider an offense in the forum and believe they are doing the right thing.

Some basic tips we beginners need to take into consideration to avoid costly mistakes

2. Plagiarism: As we all know, plagiarism is unacceptable anywhere, including bitcointalk.org. If you do plagiarism and they catch you, you will be permanently banned, regardless of your forum rank, and this is what is affecting those of us who are new to the forum. Most of the time, we fail to read the forum rules until we commit an offense and are punished; it happened to me as well; at the time, I copied some content from the internet and posted it here in the forum without realizing it was an offense. Therefore, beginners need to avoid Plagiarism.
Some beginners are actually disregarding some rules, including plagiarism. The number of banned accounts due to plagiarism is increasing these days, and I was wondering if they actually read the forum rules because it was clearly stated that plagiarism is an offense in this forum and the penalty is a ban, but they keep doing it, implying that they don't read the rule. Beginners must exercise extreme caution and adhere to the forum's rules and regulations to avoid being banned.

I think even in day to day life, these things apply. And simply reading the rules first really help newbies like me. Respect, honesty and being authentic is something that I'll still do in this forum. I'll include good research as well.

Violence is common that's why we see it in movies, but it shouldn't be encouraged in the forum. That's why as newbies, its relevant to set your goals straight and avoid such behaviors when you rank up to legendary. Sometimes I wonder if such people who contribute to such disputes in the forum didn't say things like you did when they were newbies. As they climbed the ranking ladder things got different and they changed within split second and separate from the goal they first had in the forum. It's kind to secure the forum and keep it spam free as a reputable member, but using ill words or having bad controversial conversations with fellow forum member shouldn't be a thing the newbies should learn even when they come across it in the forum.

When you scrutinize the forum and see these quarrels yourself and decide to discipline yourself not to engage on such things, which is not why we are here. Instead focus on teaching people about bitcoin, rather than using off key points to derail the message of a thread to deceive members to believe what doesn't count in the world of cryptocurrency. In future the forum would be free from activities and encourage quality posts and kind heartened behaviors.

2. Plagiarism: As we all know, plagiarism is unacceptable anywhere, including bitcointalk.org.
It is untrue.

It was introduced circa 2016 and second chance started to be initiated since 2018.

explanation in 2018 and became more often applied in 2019. In that year, theymos started to give global moderators' right to handle plagiarism cases and award second chance for deserved members.

But I think that doesn't mean that plagiarism is not unacceptable. Somehow your comment created an impression on me that it is okay to do plagiarism since chances can be given. Thanks for the links you've inserted by the way, I am a newbie and I didn't know there were such things.

One mistake that newbies make is, failing to search the forum to see if the thread they want to begin is already existing. Additionally, some newbies don't read responses on a thread before making up theirs, which may lead to similar ideas or offkey ideas co-existing in a thread. The things you listed on this thread, OP, are all good, but has been stressed alot in the forum; plagiarism, quality content, etc. Yet newbies fall prey to such rules and get panalized.

Newbies also fail to scrutinize the forum before participating in this forum. Notwithstanding that they're rules controlling this forum, which newbies are advised to read. Yet things like quarrels, misunderstanding, fights and indept arguments happen in the forum too, which newbies are expected not to be a part of such disputes with fellow members. So, if a newbie scouts the forum and understand it fully well, they won't have issue with plagiarism and quality contents, i.e seeing for themselves how members are panalized for such mistakes, how members fight against a particular member who drops offkey responses on a thread and how members beg DT members to please remove the negative trust issued to them.

Such experience would not only erect a newbies behavior in the forum, it'll make him to be careful with their contents while on the forum, thereby previewing before they publish.

I think even in day to day life, these things apply. And simply reading the rules first really help newbies like me. Respect, honesty and being authentic is something that I'll still do in this forum. I'll include good research as well.

Such experience would not only erect a newbies behavior in the forum, it'll make him to be careful with their contents while on the forum, thereby previewing before they publish.

Goodnight, ohh Leo!!! 🦅
So apparently, you is simply tryna tell 'em newbies some tips? ...and I was wondering if I couldn't see properly cus I realized you're still a newbie...lol, I like your courage 🙂
There are alot of points in your content, that are practically self-centered,...or rather ideally ascribed to BTT alone, even when your meant to include other sites too. Always remember that everyone didn't start off Great; I began somewhere, we all did and gradually -- it wasn't our accuracy is writing or interpretation that paid off, it was the consistency....stay finger-crossed.

Some have also limited knowledge on the thread they are posting that’s why their post become less meaningful and has low quality. However, we can always learn and improve those things if we also make efforts to make it happen. While everything that we have to learn is already available in the internet, so it only takes much of our diligence so we can maximize learning and apply them in achieving high quality post. Also, beginners have less or no experience in the forum yet, the reason why they fail to create a high quality post because they don’t have personal experiences that can make their post more valid and meaningful.

~snip
It will not be so easy for beginners to fulfill this condition. The quality of the posts will directly depend on the background of the person. If this is not the case, then it is almost impossible to create high quality posts and this will have to be learned. I will not say that this is a super-difficult task, but depending on the abilities of people, it will take a different amount of time to master. Everything new is always something to learn. So, for many beginners, writing low-quality posts is almost inevitable and they all have to go through this path on their own. Someone will improve, but someone will not be able to and will abandon the forum (or become a shitposter).
Beginners still have to go a long process in learning before they can achieve high quality post in the forum. Although some have manage to create good post but we can’t say the contents are really impressive and of high quality, and that’s expected since they are still starting to learn and gain knowledge on the different insights of cryptocurrency. But we know everything can be learned and perfected in time. With determination and hard work in the forum, I know beginners will eventually become the quality posters in the long run.

A quality post is a post that is written in a simple and correct English which helps to answer a question or give information about a specific topic. It doesn't need to be bulky or comprehensive but it should cover the specific area it is tends to deal with. Some people now use AI to right their post which is not the right thing to do
Who said posts that are written in only English are classified under quality posts? There are many local board posts which are written in their local languages but are really good post. The main thing is it should be having useful information and be on topic which adds on some more content to the topic. So there are many ways under which we can say the post was quality one not only in English.

One issue with newbies having to post with high quality is their desire to feel included in the forum despite not knowing much about the forum rules and regulations. They simply want to post whenever they feel like it, even if they have no knowledge of the topic, in order to increase their post count and activity. Everything in this forum is gradual and steady; learn and understand before you try to tell for anything.
The newbies need to realise that this is just an open discussion forum where they can share their ideas and obtain knowledge from other members on any topic they are interested in but they make things complex in rush of ranking up and gaining merits fast which is first mistake.Slowly you will gain knowledge if you are interested in but treat this as normal forum not too much to follow up right?

Plagiarism, as I understand it, is the act of copying someone else's work without acknowledgment and reference to his/her work. I'm sure the rules apply here as well.
It is against the forum rules and if you are caught in plagiarism your account will be banned so don't involve yourself in such things.

At first, I thought this is about what beginners need to do to avoid getting scammed in the crypto space, but it's all about the forum rules which is a good reminder for newbies, this forum is for learning about crypto and it won't benefit anyone that breaks the rules only to be ban out of here, thanks to this forum I was able to learn a lot about crypto and how to stay safe using a crypto wallet.

When I first came across the plagiarism thread in the META section of the forum, I saw many newbies fall victim to plagiarism, possibly due to ignorance of forum rules or due to negligence, and they end up being banned. Plagiarism is a serious issue that is seriously frowned upon here. No matter how new you are to the forum, everyone is expected to read the pinned threads and the forum rules before posting as a new user.

Just as @m2017 stated, a person's background affects the quality of their posting. It will take some time for a beginner to fully understand cryptocurrencies when he is fresh to the concept in general. Only after that would he or she find it simple to post something worthwhile. Those who are committed and eager to learn will undoubtedly get better with time, but not everyone will be able to cross this bridge.

Obviously, plagiarism is not acceptable here, @mprep has included plagiarism in one of the forum rules.

33. Posting plagiarized content is not allowed.[e]

Plagiarism needs to be fought or even eliminated in forums. For Newbies who want to avoid accusations of plagiarism, they need to attach the original source of the writing made on this forum, whether it's in the form of information or pictures taken outside the forum.

It is plagiarism to use another person's information without their permission.
Please don't generally speaking like this. Let's discuss plagiarism in Bitcointalk only.

Here, you don't have to ask anyone permission. Just leave a quote or a source link and it's enough.

I take exception to this remark. Plagiarism is basically about honesty. And honesty doesn't have anything to do with how developed a country is. I am coming from an underdeveloped country and plagiarism is a capital sin in my university. As a matter of fact, I have a friend who was expelled not only from the political science program but from the entire university for inserting a plagiarized paragraph in his thesis proposal. He was never able to graduate.
Depends on local rules on plagiarism as well as how serious it is enforced. It is only started in third world nations and I am sure with you punishment there would be less seriously strict than in developed nations.

Quote
OP, plagiarism is indeed unacceptable anywhere.
Again, depends on how laws are enforced in that nation. If law means mostly nothing by lack of serious enforcement, law if has still means nearly nothing for locals. They don't obey laws if government don't make punishment. Same goes for plagiarism.

I agree that we can say plagiarism is unacceptable everywhere in moral aspect. In legal aspect, it depends.

It is untrue.

In third-world nations, plagiarism is not a serious matter even in university, college, research articles or business companies.
How? To us who are still new members, plagiarism is a very serious issue because it has a complication that we will completely ban not only new members but any rank someone has in the forum once he/she plagiarizes is banned and that account is gone.
When you mention university, college, and other places, such as school, can you borrow someone's book and copy their notes without their permission? It is plagiarism to use another person's information without their permission.

In forum globally, Bitcoin talk forum is a most serious forum about plagiarism but unfortunately plagiarism cases nowadays tend to be handled considerably softer than the past especially in 2018 or 2019.

It was introduced circa 2016 and second chance started to be initiated since 2018.
