How to active email notification for a specific board?

Let's try with this meta board.

Once you click the notify link - you will be seeing a small pop up...

My one is showing disable because it's already enabled. In your case it should say enable if you have not enabled it yet. Once you know the status then click OK button or Cancel button. Let's say yours is saying enable, in that case click Ok button.

This will allow the system to send you email with any new topic posted on the meta board only. If you want to unable email notification for other boards then I suggest to follow the same procedure.

How to active email notification for a specific topic?
Let's use this current topic as an example. On the top right corner or bottom right corner please look for...

Once you click the notify link, you will see the same popup you have seen for board notification. If it is saying enable then click Ok button. This will allow the system to email you once a new comment made on this specific topic.

Side note: Make sure you have a valid email address connected with your BitcoinTalk account and sometimes emails may end up on your Junk folder of the email client. So, make sure you check the junk folder too.

Reset everything you have done and try this method. Hope this helps.

Now when a link leads to bitcointalk.org, it has a green hover color. For example:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=24.0
Meta
"Legit bitcointalk.org link"

(If you don't see it, you probably have a cached version of the CSS -- manually refresh this page or wait a few hours.)

This should make it easier to identify phishing, especially once your eyes get used to seeing it.

This is how I do it...

1. Go to search function
2. type your username in between a double quotation mark. e.g: "mdayonliner"
3. Enter a rough message age: For example 2 by replacing 9999, you can keep 9999 but in this case the search will bring everything and it will take long time.
4. Finally click the Search button.

PS: Sometimes this search function acts weird but most of the times it's really helpful. When it acts weird then try changing the number for step 3.

Here are the details in my message to mods [this was locked sometime during period I was not logging-in/posting between March'18 and May'18];

Hi there,

Sorry to be an inconvenience but after a couple of months i finally log on to see some posts id like to reply to on my thread but it took me awhile to finally find out its locked. Odd, never had that happen before.

May I kindly please receive your help on two things;
(1) unlock this thread "Easy way to explain and teach Bitcoin"
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/easy-way-to-explain-and-teach-bitcoin-2357962
(2) was this an accident or mistake or could you come up with an understanding why this may have happened in first place?

At first I thought it was age of post or too many replies, but then, looking around same time period on high-reply topics proved this thought false, ie:
-https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2090105.0
-https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=702838.0
-https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1917167.0

Anyways, again sorry to inconvenience either of you. Any help here would be greatly appreciated as this is one of my favorite topics and I really do believe in helping others educating on bitcoin and just spreading awareness on the world's most secure, decentralized, global, fair, value-storing crypto.

thank you,

What I understand here is...
A mod locked this topic, I do not know the reason of-course. Only the mod can explain.

AFAIK, if a mod lock a topic then only they can unlock it, you can not do anything there however, If you as a topic creator lock a topic then you can unlock it by yourself.

And what if someone else somehow locked my topic? And the forum admins are unresponsive when kindly asking for how it happened or a reason why? If anyone cares, I'll share more info/details here...
AFAIK only you (topic creator) and mods/admin can lock/move a topic. A regular member can not do it. I have never experience any exception however if you have then I am interested to hear.
