1. Keep your tokens/coins in private wallet if you are not trading it.

2. There are many scammers now a days, be aware of them

3. On telegram there are many people trying to scam by impersonating admin of projects, be aware.

4. If any airdrop/bounty/giveaway is asking for money or private key to redeem your coin/token, exit immediately.

5. Do not keep your private key in your email or computer, write it on paper and keep it on safe place.

6. Keep yourself away from cheap pump/dump groups, admins of those groups are dumping on people by giving buy signals to people.

7. Always do your own research before you invest in any project. Do not invest in ponzi scheme who promise to give big ROI.

8. If you are new to crypto world then try to invest in top coins only to avoid scam projects.

9. If you do not have money but want to have crypto then you can join bounty/Airdrop. To get good bounties/airdrops easily you can join this group on telegram @cryptoearnfree

10. Never click any website link from your email.

11. Always double check website link when you login to exchange or private wallet and always try to fill it manually, do not google it.

12. To get official website links of exchanges or crypto projects you can get it from coinmarketcap.

For newbies, #1 specifically says that you should put it in either hardware wallet or desktop wallet. Just don't use online wallet, as it makes no difference as leaving your money inside an exchange where it is vulnerable to be robbed by hackers or any attackers that would attempt to make damages to the site as well as user's sanity.

If anyone is using MEW most of the time, don't forget to bookmark the original site. I already had an experience before in almost getting scammed and robbed by attempting to make me put my private key into their site so that I can claim their shit coin which is gonna stay shit for all these years to come.

Most newbies are always guilty of revealing their private key  instead of their ethereum address to scammers in the name freebies especially airdrops I agreed with the advice by the OP research on all the projects before investing although some might turns scam however with diligent scrutiny and crosschecking with ICO or IEO rating sites etc  an investor should have an edge of falling into scams.
These advices are really good for the newbies and reminder also for us as members. I guess most of the mentioned tips were too general and common but still useful. We will be really needing this reminder when we forgot all these things. In addition to this, the user should also.practice multiple layers of security. Private keys should be kept in a really secured place, most preferably an offline wallet or a laptop that doesn't or have never been connected to the internet to avoid phishing sites and malicious software that will be use by hackers to steal important information such as passwords and security keys.

The scammers not only fake the admin of the project, but they are anyone. So be careful, 99% of the people who proactively PM for you, which you are not used to are scammers.

in order not to avoid phishing sites, you need to press only to the saved links in your browser in the control panel. This greatly reduces the risk of getting into scam sites. phishing attacks have already been greatly reduced, but they will still remain very dangerous, so you need to know how to avoid them

these are the basic ways when investing and may be of little help, but in investing the most important thing for me is collecting data and also calculating the likelihood that can happen to the data that has been collected. it will be difficult if you cannot understand mathematics, because it is very used in this industry

And to add to what the Op has written, avoid investing in IEO on some exchanging platforms that have histories of promoting scam projects. Few of them include Latoken, Dobi, Exmarket.

Good information overall but writing recovery phrases on paper doesn't count, you left out the importance of 2FA google security, private keys can be kept in mails if the 2FA is activated, no one will be able to pass that unless they get hold of your phone

In general, the only advice that will help you get rid of fraudsters in cryptocurrency. Exit cryptocurrency. All residual tips will not help. At any time, you can make a mistake and lose money. Grin

There are many people who never get scammed in the crypto world. Btw, for those who make mistakes, not all of them lose a significant amount of money and are able to continue their journey well. Bad things can happen but that doesn't mean that we have to give up. If we are careful enough, the opportunity to face bad experiences can be eliminated.

That's great to hear. Those people must be strict on keeping their properties totally secured and away from any harmful events. However experience will taught you hard and much more robust sense carefullness. I am not totally saying that we must all experience getting scam what I do mean is that, having no experience is different having the idea alone. Anyway let us all still keep in mind these lessons.

All the tips you mentioned are very good and useful for beginners who are new here, I always use the advice you mentioned above, I also added to be careful with scammers

Scammers are everywhere and if we will not be careful then  we will regret in the future, so check first everything that you are doing, every person you are transacting, the exchange you are doing trading at, and of course the project itself that you wish to invest, always question them and don't just trust easily.

Writing private keys or recovery seeds on paper is a very bad idea, natural disaster can make you lose the paper easily, instead you should buy hardware wallet or find a stainless steel and carve your seed on it

The truth is there is no way to escape all this your advice ,mistakes are born to be make so it doesn't safe anyone from losing his or her coins ,mistakes will be made and coins will always bes lost but good advice overall
But it can be avoided if we are so keen to our move and never forget or if you forget try to make a plan B just in case. Everything can be done correctly if someone has the brain to do it. Imagine the Bitcoin wallet of Satoshi until this day. Amaze? Of course, he's not active on it because Satoshi is nowhere to be found but try that example. Although the best way to keep your private key is to write it on a piece of paper and hide it on a safe.

Thank you for all the tips you've shared with us. All of it are worth to think about. But for me in addition with all the mentioned tips above. We have also consider thing like reviewing or studying whatever that project is. Bevause nowadays as the market is really fast growing so as the scammers. So dont make an easy trust to many project that dint assure your security. Because scammers and scam project aren't rare, so only trust project which can provide not only good profit but also they must have a good whitepaper, good teamleader that runs the said project like the Aci Coins tokens to avoid us from being scammed.

Thanks for this information, I think it might help newbies. The most important rule is to always be careful and not to believe in freebies. However, new forms of fraud appear all the time, you should be prepared for this.

The article is very good and complete for newcomers, I think if people are willing to learn and equip themselves with important knowledge about the crypto market, they will not lose money. But tricks of scammers are increasingly sophisticated, so we must always learn to avoid losing money unjustly.
