Hi,
Did you have any news from the Electroneum team?
I received an email this evening saying that my account was locked for suspicious activity. I reset all the passwords and found out that my 5690 ETN where transferred.

I didn't log in to the Electroneum website for more than a month and didn't share any of my private ETN keys so I am not sure how that happened! Sad

The only way this could be done is if they know your private address. You might've entered your private key to a website that is fake and actually targets coins. This also happened to my friend. So we need to be careful in using our private keys.

it's a shame but the stolen coins will not be back again, because that's one of the biggest disadvantages of cryptocurrencies, but how can your tokens get stolen? are you exposed to a phishing website?  you can share it with us

Your account or wallet information was compromised becauase the hacker needs to know your credential first.before he can transfer your coins. Are you sure that you computer doesnt have malwares?if no try on install malwarebytes it will help you to know what caused your problem if.the malware bytes dones detect any you probably got phished, that is why you need to use metacert extensions in your browsers so you wont be a victim.

I agree with you. In this case there are only two ways to get private key.

First, ask directly to the owner.

Second way is place a keyloger in the owner computer so they can tracking all activity on that.

So if you wasn't give your private key to someone then exactly your computer get some malwares. Reinstall your computer and next time be carefully when you want to download somethings.

Really sorry to hear about that, that is a significant amount of money.

How you got hacked depends on how you stored your etn, but in the end, somehow, someone got your seed/key or email password.

If they were on an exchange, then someone hacked into the exchange and got your details.  However, if you had 2FA attached to your mobile, they wouldn't have been able to do it.

If you had it on the app, then someone was able to crack your login and authenticating details.  Was there a site that you had registered on with your details?  Most of the time details like this are stolen through phishing scams.

If you had it on etn's site, then it was most likely stolen through spyware or a phishing scam.

Unfortunately, the tech of blockchain basically makes it impossible to get your etn back.  You can track it using the blockchain explorer, but you have no idea how or what owns those addresses.

A lesson for everyone to take from this, is that in the end, the only real safeguard is to store your cryto in cold storage or a hardware wallet.

I'm sorry for the stealing that happened on your account. While cryptocurrencies and blockchain offer tremendous profit opportunities, investors can sometimes face such fraud problems. Being very careful, even taking all the safety precautions is sometimes not enough. Get well soon for you.

sorry to hear about that. But i want to say it is a fault of you.i am sure you click a phishing site and insert your private keys there.Don't click any unknown email in your inbox.these days scammers get our emails from airdrops and other bounty spread sheets to send us scam emails with the name of popular ICOs and coins.I got lot of scam emails like that..i just delete them without clicking there links.and always bookmark the exchange sites and wallets.so don't do that mistake again.

If this thing happened on mew and you are a victim of phishing site then there is no more other solution I know. This is why I carefully choose the best trading sites and wallet. There are many hackers in the internet that we should be wary of because they can quickly sweep all of our profits.

@mobilazy this may be off-topic (sorry OP) but what recent bug in Trezor and Ledger are you referring to? Can you please provide any links? The news is new to me (and I watch those products closely) and moreover I was not able to google anything.

Just extra precautions, some hacker might change address, but since now you can see whole address line without dots in the middle, quite easy to check. I don't think some hacker can have ETH or BTC address exactly as yours with a couple of symbols changed.

Anyway, link:

Did you use hardware wallet? Sorry, I can't help you return your money, but could you please share more details as a warning for people? This would be very useful. I assume you use high precautions to store circa 10 million. Most probably people use that recent bug in Trezor or Ledger to change address and value, right?

Please don't tell me you had it on MEW and enter your private key on some phishing site.

@OP I am sorry to hear that but I don't think I can help you.

Men thats a very bad news.! Theres a lot of scammers out there avoid phising sites and just secret the numbers of your coins. Cryptopia is not best trading site. Better keep it on web electroneum wallet or on your hard wallet. And dont click suspicious links and adds. Many really good hackers out there and i guess theres something fishy on cryptopia. I feel so sad at your lost its not the end of the world move on. Report it on cryptopia etn has a great potential.
