I think they are only interested in blockchain technology and not bitcoin itself. But whO  knows, sony might consider bitcoin too as payment in the future. That would be really great for all of us.

As much as I love Sony to choose BTCitcoin by end of March 17th 2016, I won't be surprise that they acquire Blockchain technology only and come up with their own coin (perhaps Sonycoin). What their doing at the moment for looking into Blockchain is the right move due to security breaches that were on their way in the past so this would be good for Sony users and it could be only good for us, if they use BTCitcoin completely and not just Blockchain technology.

I would guess that they are going to try to make their own private blockchain that they can control.

remember folks, it says 'blockchain'

so expect Sonycoin.. not bitcoin
Does it matter what your squabble? Bitcoins dying in front of your eyes and the saddest thing is that you cannot see it because you are too busy squabbling over shite.

The bitcoin is dead. Long live Ethereum.

Why bitcoin is dying? Can u explain this a bit more, I didn't see any signs for that to happen so I'm curious what u know about this.

relax. its one of the blockstream shills. doing all they can to tempt people over to the altcoin/sidechains. (all pre-mined of course) even the ethereum crew were promised coins MONTHS before it was released. so dont expect them to win favours.

Yeah, hopefully their enormous wallet won't get hacked along with blackmailing.  I love Sony, I really do but they can be real pussfags.  They used to make great calculators.

The entertainment blockchain sounds frightening. We might have to increase blocksize if they are going to add 2 hour films to the blockchain. Smiley

This is a smart move by Sony. Sony has been struggling in recent years in the smartphone industry against Samsung and iPhone.

Accepting bitcoin and integrating a bitcoin payment app into their smartphone software would be a step forward into the future of online and smartphone payments.

I'm a Sony smartphone user as well as a PS4 user, can't wait to start using bitcoin to pay for my apps and games. Great move Sony!

Yup its great may be in future Android playstore also may accept bitcoin for purchasable games and apps. We can play stations with bitcoin itself. Really great attempt from Sony corporation.
Thanks Sony;)

I don't think that Play Store (aka Google Play) will accept bitcoin because they have their own wallet called Google Wallet.

Yes, Google Play have its own wallet, but this wallet can be filled with Dollars, Euros, Rubles, Yuans, Krona, Guaranis, Pesos,Bolivars,  ... Why it couldn't accept bitcoins, litecoins and any other crypto coin?

If Sony brings Bitcoin to the PlayStation store to buy games with that would be amazing because Bitcoin will get a lot more exposure worldwide.

I think just the same.
I think it is a good thing that sony should bring bitcoin to playstation.
THat is very good for the publicity. Good publicity is what we need.

Is Sony catching up or are they to late like SEGA vs. Nintendo?

Hope they go full hog and bring it more to the masses.

What on earth are you talking about? Blocks are used for recording transactions, not for carrying media content.

Back on topic, the challenge category is "Useful solutions related to film and music industries using Blockchain." So it doesn't necessarily involve bitcoin. We shouldn't conflate "bitcoin" and "blockchain".
