There will be none.
Many fudders would destroy the coin first before it can reach BTC level.
Most altcoins are just pump & dump.

You overestimate the random people fudding in the forum.

Do you mean parity in marketcap value or in parity of single coins? if first one holds, i would say NXT. if second holds, then this will never happen  Grin

So here we are, which coin do you think it will dethrone bitcoin or at least will reach parity.
After selecting your bet, I would like you to post the reasons of why you think your selected one will rule.

To da moon!

Absolutely none of the current ones. I think maybe in the future one could come along but it would have to have something truly unique. Maybe some other new type of revolutionary crypto or currency will come out and I think that would be the biggest threat to bitcoin overall.

I do not write much here on bitcointalk.
I'm more of a reader.
Sometimes I must respond equally.

I think there are some good coins at the moment.
I miss one unique and good coin on your list!
Coin of the Magi (XMG)
Although I can not vote, i would ask to add this to your list!
Thanks in advance.

Crypto is the separation of Power and State.
I predict Monero will now form shadow governments and make Latapie the hyperPresident of France.

Yeah thats why gmaxwell as also an XMR adress

Wow, that's awesome.

I've had disagreements with gmaxwell in the past, but he's right about keeping the 1mb blocksize and right about Monero.

I'll send some Moneroj to that address to encourage his activity/interest/advocacy.

Monero is the coin most likely to reach parity with BTC.

One is for public settlements and storage of value, the other is for the private versions of those activities.

Dude, Monero is neck-and-neck with Bytecoin...
You know... the coin Peter Todd characterized as having an "atrocious code base"...
That's the CryptoNote side show to watch... nothing else to see there.

Monero can't even deliver a wallet. Please.

There are like 5 GUI wallets to choose from:

Take your pick!

It's really the wrong question right now... because there is no serious challenger here...
Serious challengers hang out boardrooms... not sleazy hellholes like this Mook Skinner.

But BTC has now dropped to 87% of all crypto coin cap...
And does not include serous venture backed junior exchange issues...
Like, for example, BitGold just spiked to > $50 million cap.

So BTC is really now about 50% of the crypto economy with no leadership. Good luck.

Imagine the daily cash burn of the $1 billion thrown at crowded Bitcoin startup space.

I'd say none. At least none in the short-medium term. In long term... only God knows... and maybe some of the pumpers around here Smiley.

I think there will be no altcoin that can match with BTC in terms of value.

One scenario for this is if the devs "break" Bitcoin.  Gavin's proposal to a 20mb block might cause it (just speculation, but who knows..).  I am seeing LTC becoming a safe haven coin while the hard fork is in process...  So LTC is the best bet, but BTC has to "break".

None. Some of them will probably catch some niche markets because of some specific features but no more. For some other form of money to suplement the network effect of bitcoin it will need a new shift in paradigm, not just a tweeked copy.

Like the radical paradigm shift proposed by MaidSafe?
