Actually USA and China could settle debts ...
China may ask to pay them with lands in US.
US govt owns alot of land in the country.
The bad thing here is that that China can not attack US territory by meaty troops, only can hit by nuclear missiles. So it can not enforce lands' transfer.
On the other bowl of shit, China itself has huge debt amassed inside country,
unpayable too...so in the case of hard landing of their economy, they will transform to failed state from pretenders for world wide hegemony
Add to this : new chinese elite wanna try "perestroika", which demolished Soviet Union.
Will chinese be succefull in that ?!
