I think I see now, I'll give that a try. Although my immediate questions would be:

$luckyNumber = -$luckyNumber;
$luckyNumber = -$luckyNumber;
How could luckyNumber ever be less than 0?
And:

} while($luckyNumber == 0)

Wouldn't you be better off just shifting $luckyNumber by 1 spot instead of all that?
