I don't need to believe it, haha. Spent 3 years collectively in India and Pakistan, not to mention Sri Lanka. Only foreigners played football there, but the reason I asked was because I'm reading more and more about how big Indian football actually is. India's about 1/7th of global population so even if only 10% of the people watch football, it's already more than 3x the population of my country Wink
Oh wow! Nice to know that you were in those countries. If you have spent three years there, you must be familiar with the culture and know how crazy people are about Cricket. Every South Asian country is cricket-loving, including Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Nepal. Indeed there are some football fans as well. You can see the football craziness during the world cup.

Look at those clips from Fifa and Al Jazeera;

https://twitter.com/FIFAcom/status/1596759102755115009?s=20
https://twitter.com/AJEnglish/status/1601958735987048455?s=20

But I would still say this is seasonal. You won't see this craziness for a whole year. But when it comes to Cricket, South Asians are crazy.

Cricket is king, for sure but a friend of mine insists Kerala and Goa are football crazy (see this clip), Indians were the 7th rank in the last World Cup ticket sales apparently! This isn't even recent, Russia 2018 had the most fans from US, China... then India. And they don't even have a team at the tournament ha!
Yeah. This is impressive. A country doesn't have their team in the world cup, but they are cheering for another country; this must come from the heart. Without loving football, it's not possible. Just imagine your country is not in the tournament, but you are still cheering for a team. It's because you are a soccer fan, and that's why you are there.

I think not all nations has to focus on the same game. Football is already loved by billions all around the world, two of the biggest populations right now on the world is India and China, both of which not really known for their football, but also not staying away from it neither, they do have football clubs and they do try to grow bigger. China is a "rich" nation, that's what we call nations with huge debts, same with people, and if they spend a ton, they could get big players as well, just like Saudi Arabia does, India doesn't have that chance.

But, as long as each nation has their own favorite sport, whatever it is, I think that's fine enough, no need to be good at every single sport. India has one of the most followed sports people on social media, all cricket players, that should tell you something.

Post stadium pics if possible -- never seen one in India. Do you also watch Football there? I read it's getting serious...
Would you believe if I say 90% of Indians are more into cricket than any other game? Yes. It's true. Ask web tricks to verify. As the craziest cricket guy, I always dreamed of visiting crazy cricket-loving countries like India and Pakistan. Indian Premier League is the most successful cricket tournament in the world. I guess it generates more profit than the Cricket world cup. If you Google "The Richest Cricket Board in The world", You will be surprised. Yes, It's India. Imagine how many cricket fans there are and how much profit they generate from cricket tournaments. At the same time, England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) is at number two, and Aussies are at three.

So, I don't think people from India watch Football that much. More like European countries, They don't watch cricket  Cheesy
Moreover, FIFA Suspended All India Football Federation (AIFF) https://www.fifa.com/about-fifa/associations/media-releases/fifa-suspends-all-india-football-federation. I am not sure how is the situation now.

I had a conversation with Steve both In Forum PM and Telegram. It's nice to know he and Sportsbet founder love and play cricket. I missed a big chance to meet Steve due to a personal issue. I hope I can meet him next season.

Cheers!

Football has been gaining popularity nicely in last years in India. But still not enough ofc. The Indian Super League should be more professional imo.

@webtricks really good to hear you finally saw the man, the legend, the Steve. Curiously, I also have (had) a liver problem, though that was more from an unfortunate encounter with a certain nasty parasite several years ago. Still drink, but nothing like the rest of ClubTalk seem to be able to chug haha.

Post stadium pics if possible -- never seen one in India. Do you also watch football there? I read it's getting serious...

Steve will be sending me some pictures of the event soon, I will upload a couple of those when received. Here are the videos of the stadiums that I captured on my mobile:

1. Wankhede, Mumbai: https://streamable.com/g7bpnb. This is the match Steve invited me to. We had the seats in Grand Stand, one of the best locations to watch the match in Wankhede: straight boundaries and the whole stadium view. Even though the seating capacity is just little over 30K, Wankhede is among the top 3 stadiums in India when it comes to the crowd experience.

2. Kotla, Delhi: https://streamable.com/jnfw3z. I watched this game a day prior to Wankhede game. This is the home ground of Delhi (the team in blue) but you can see that 90% of the audience is wearing yellow. Can you guess the reason? The answer is: 'Our Beloved Captain Cool MS Dhoni'. This man has stature equal to what Messi or Ronaldo have in World football, even more for Indians. Delhi is 2200km away from Chennai but still everyone is cheering CSK for a single person.

I watch football but I'm not a fan of Indian football. I don't follow ISL. ISL is not very famous in North India as compared to other parts of India. I am an avid fan of Barcelona and Messi in particular. I haven't watched football live in stadium yet but planning a trip to Camp Nou in winters if Messi miraculously makes a return to Barca in the upcoming season.

ISL is only ten years old there but already big signs they will overtake cricket (would you believe it) in at least market share, if not viewership. Then there are those who say only some teams get big crowds, and attendance is suffering because of politics (hey, what else is new right?). But I do recall at Asian qualifiers in Kolkata Indians sold out the stadiums, so clearly, there's huge support for the national team.

P.S. In the USA, after Pele came in the 1970s, they barely got their love of football up in the 50 years since. Polls say only 8% of US people say "soccer" as their favourite sport to watch 2022. Would you believe that?

What will you guys be mostly gambling on during the summer?

The football season is nearly over and no major international tournaments are on. I’m just interested to see what everybody will turn their focus to?

Maybe tennis, Wimbledon isn’t far away, I always enjoy having a little bet or two there.

The football season is coming to an end, it's sad. There are few spectacular sports in the summer. I will miss the football matches, especially the EPL. But I will watch Formula 1 and boxing in the summer. I'm not a tennis fan. But I will watch the Grand Slam tournaments.

@LFC_Bitcoin I always hate this time of the year because every thing becomes boring without football but after such an interesting season in the Premier League I just can’t wait for it to be back because I believe that Liverpool will be coming for all the team’s and rest team’s too will be buying new player’s which makes it really hard to wait for the restart.

Furthermore for me Wimbledon will never be the same no Roger, probably no Nadal too and the new generation of player’s impress in one match and flop in the other hence my only hope is that Djokovic is playing and continuing to dazzle us.

I have no idea and I didnt saw the whole schedule for sports events, but Sportsbet Cyber Live Arena worked great for me before.
Basketball FIBA World Cup should happen later this year, and I will jump in on that, but this is in Asia and that means big time difference for most matches.

Maybe tennis, Wimbledon isn’t far away, I always enjoy having a little bet or two there.
I am not watching tennis it is boring sport for me, so I dont think I will place many bets on that.

Tennis, F1, NBA, Nations league, european qualifiers..
Yeah, I almost forgot about Formula 1 and NBA, but I am sure it is not going to be easy for BSFL league questions.  Grin

Sharing here my recent live game experience on Sportsbet.io.

I was very unlucky on Blackjack which drains my 300USD very quickly. My only win against the dealer is just a draw and the rest of my bet is just a loss for whatever bad luck hits me hard. Only 99$ left on my 400$ bankroll for tonight and I'm already depressed about my game tonight. Then I decided to change the game and try roulette which is new to me. I keep betting on the 1/3 bet option that gives x3 payout. Luckily, The GOD of Luck is with me this time which makes all my bets win 3 consecutive times. I recover quickly my initial 300$ loss and take a profit 98$ which I withdraw quickly. I still shaking right now. My best gambling experience so far.  Grin

I do the same thing as you when I gamble and lose in a game. I usually look for another game, hoping that there will be other luck or at least being able to return half of my capital to bet again tomorrow, it's true that this method can sometimes be effective in returning lost capital. and also sometimes fail. but I have done this method when gambling.

But everything comes back to luck too, your luck is good and you manage to control yourself not to continue playing in blackjack, if you continue playing it might be you lose all your money, luckily you think fast by choosing Roulette game and try your luck, in the end you get your luck. congrats guys  Wink

That view is breathtaking! I love it!

Meanwhile , do we have some NHL fans around here ? We know 99% who will play the Stanley Cup final and one of them is Florida Panther who managed to surprise everyone with this godlike run and I think they have a a chance to actually win it all. Then , we have Golden Knights who are already 3-0 in conference finals and I think it's safe to say we will have Panthers vs Knights in the finals.

Odds are in favor of Knights for now - https://sportsbet.io/sports/event/ice-hockey/usa/nhl/nhl-22-23-62b5a15484aaaf20ee762939

Hi Guys,

Another "Beers with Steve" done and dusted in Mumbai.

A little bit of a different one this time as my good mate "Webtricks" doesn't drink beer, but this is perfectly fine and was more about the meet-up and learning what Webtricks is upto on his Crypto adventure!

The two events we attended were top-class.   Shocked

We saw Cameron Green hit a 100 to win the match for Mumbai Indians, and then a private function with Brett Lee where we had a chance to get photos and talk to the man himself.

Cheers again for the catch-up and let's look at doing another one soon!

regards,

Steve.
Sportsbet.io
Definitely something to cheer for because you guys are going around the world meeting with your users, I can't think of any other single place in all of crypto where people can do that with any other casino. Let me phrase that again, there is absolutely no other casino in any crypto gambling world, where the book meets the player, that's unique and singular. That alone is the reason why we love gambling here, we know that you care about us and we know that you are going to do your best and keep doing that as long as possible.

I understand that some people may disregard this and think that there are more important things, but there are none, if a place is legit and good enough to meet with the players, then they are better than everyone else.

Haha, I have my liver to blame for that. I am diagnosed with a liver condition and advised not to take alcoholic drinks. But booze or not, it was really nice meeting you. It was wonderful getting to know about sportsbet.io, your efforts promoting cricket in Europe and all the amazing people associated with the business.

The game was amazing. A high scoring encounter. I have been a SRH fan for several years now so it was a bittersweet experience for me, nonetheless, hearing 30K Mumbai fans roaring every time they hit six surely gave goosebumps. And ofcourse, the innings from Green was spectacular.

But nothing could match the joy of meeting Brett Lee. All those India-Aussie encounter memories from the childhood came pouring out and I was overwhelmed. The event was fun, the food was good and that tequila sequence was epic! Cheesy

Thanks for the opportunity. I will be glad to meet-up anytime soon.

P.P.S. @webtricks Photos, please, and plenty.

Haha, I better not dox myself but let me find some good ones to share from my gallery.
