Fair play to Gerrard he didn't exactly pick the easiest team to manage in the Premier League. I'm still undecided whether I'd like him at Liverpool when Klopp leaves in 2024. I'd much rather Klopp sign on for longer no matter the options obviously, but if there's better options than Gerrard out there I'd like to go for them instead. Gerrard has taken the right step though, if he can prove himself in the Premier League, especially with a recovering Aston Villa that makes me optimistic post Klopp.

On the flip side, this could go wrong, and Gerrard might fall victim to the Lampard treatment. Though, I think he has mitigated that by not joining a bigger team, and starting with smaller steps. Unlike Arteta, and Frank Lamaprd who immediately joined their previous clubs they played for. I'm aware that Gerrard managed Rangers with great success, but I think the Premier League is quite a leap, and Aston Villa will be a tremendous undertaking as I think they've looked lack luster ever since losing Grealish to Manchester City.

Honestly Gerrard deserves a much better them then Aston Villa,he had an amazing results with Rangers winning them their first title after so many years.I hope one day he coaches Liverpool because he deserves it currently.Hopefully with Aston Villa he dosent terrible results but it will be a big challenge for him to coach them

There is so many games that clubs play every 3 days and sometimes every second day. That means very tired legs and/or lots of substitutions. There will be more then usual amount of surprises during this time for sure. Bench length will come into play and clubs like Chelsea and City will probably profit the most.
Off the top of my head, City doesn't actually lose many players to AFCON either? Whereas, Chelsea are at least losing Mendy, and his backup Kepa hasn't been that great for Chelsea when he was their number one. Liverpool will lose Salah, and Mane which are probably the two biggest loses for any team.

Those are the only three clubs I see in the running for the title this year, and during a already hectic winter period, they'll be losing some of their best players. Manchester City probably have the advantage during that time, following closely by Chelsea. I think we'll see Liverpool struggle if these injuries continue to mount up, plus despite me quite liking Origi, I don't think he's the backup needed to replace Mane or Salah for that time.

Okay. This is my first time participation in the Premier League Predictor, so I'm not that experienced, and I'm surely going to take what you said into account. December-January then. I'm going to spend 2-3 times more time on my research then usually, and in the end of January we'll see the results. (I'm on the 44th position currently).

Ok since you are in 44th place I can say surely that most probably you will be doing much better than you are doing right now in January if you take the time to study more before you put your picks on.
Unless you do really bad in every round during this tight schedule, you can be sure you will be a couple of positions up at least.Never give up,it is my second participation here also and I was 12 or 13 position in the end of last Premier League, near missed that 10th little prize.

That hectic time around winter holiday is craziest time in Premier League. No amount of research will help you there unfortunately Smiley I know I tried, both for betting and Fantasy, best to keep bets to minimum and just enjoy.

Christmas period is generally harder for teams because of the lack of depth, and the amount of games which are crammed in all at once. So, generally you see the teams with the better quality depth pick up more points, and those that have limited depth drop points.

For me, Chelsea still have one of the better depths. I think Liverpool are rather thin, especially up front, and in midfield with the amount of injuries they have. Also, worth noting during that time some players will be playing in the AFCON, which will mean quite a few big teams will be missing key players for a couple of games.

Both Welsh and Alexr didnt put in any prediction so I got the wooden spoon although both of them have 0 point
Yeah, I think I did post explaining my reasoning. Hilariousandco can either kick me if he wants others to have a wooden spoon, or consider me your safe guard from the spoon no matter how bad you do! I won't be putting in any more predictions.

ten points per round on average should be enough for complete win in the end, it is very good average - and gives around 380 points in the end - so we are early, and everything can change (113 points in 11 rounds is just above needed (IMO) 10 points/round for a total win)

Scoring 10 points per round isn't that easy, but thanks to the couple of guys in our pool we know it's possible. I'm planning on scoring around 10 pts each round in the future. After all I scored 9.5 points in the very first round. Why can't I repeat it? Smiley

~
Things can change pretty quickly during December and January when we will have a really tight schedule for the Premier League games.Usually it is exactly in this timeline that the past winners get ahead of most of the people. If we miss out a lot of points during this period then we only keep playing for that Yellow Cap because recovering those points in the remaining schedules is almost impossible,so there is all to play for in December and January.

I never really remembered how the past season happened,,, all I know is once you get to the bottom a lot of people give up

Well the chances to get into top ten are very low if you currently stays at any rank below #40 so some people ended up giving up halfway. Well yeah one or two yellow cap might pump you up but the chances are slim to hit that and not to mention that you might have few bad rounds along the way as well so yeah I kinda understand why people stop there

Anyway Im currently #31 and Im not going to stop until this is all over lol. Im kinda persistend in this kind of thing lol

Every season in football there is at least 1 team that makes a final lap surge in the league, in every country. So this means at least 10 games or more than 25% of the season in almost perfect form. If we put that in equation for this pool,,, this means someone can go crazy and make the highest average.

I see now the difference in points is almost 40 between me and the top, and average of 1 point per position. We have 27 more games, if we can find a way to make up just 1 average point for those we can climb 27 positions! Not to a prize yet but add in one or two yellow caps,,, you could be ending up with a prize Smiley May we both find a way to prove the adage of Never Give Up  Cool

That was probably one of my earliest, if not first, badges on Superbru! How do you ever manage to avoid a wooden spoon after all the past seasons? Something to admire heh. If I remember, I got plenty in seasons past.

For some reason I always managed to avoid it somehow and it seems my luck runs out last round so I got it lol  Tongue

I never really remembered how the past season happened,,, all I know is once you get to the bottom a lot of people give up, which seems to be the real life case of EPL football for relegation teams. Psychology is a big factor, but then again Christmas top teams also fall apart sometimes and maybe we can see the same in this pool. My eyes is on 19th game standing as this is a bit closer to the actual finishing positions in halfway league.

Yeah, it's silly quitting now. The table can shift quite drastically and we've seen this time and time again. For those who can't even be bothered doing their predictions every week you can input them in for the entire season if you wanted. You can always change them at a later date as well as long as you don't lock them.
it’s pretty frustrating. After 11 rounds I had only 9 exact scores with 27 close predictions. Obviously, I have no luck in this game.
This is my third or fourth participation in this pool, and I seem to be getting worse.
Now is an international break (I hate it  Roll Eyes), and this will again bring some unexpected results but maybe the break will please me too.

You're not alone, seems that my results is going down every season too. In 19/20 season I finished 6th, last season somewhere in the middle and now I'm just 38th and I have no luck at all this season. But I'm not going to give up. Few good rounds can improve your position significantly. Maybe I don't pretend to win something  this season, but I will try to chase yellow cap.

I know the feeling. It's happening with me in this season a lot LOL. Usually I manage to stay in the top 10 easily all the time. I rarely have a very bad round and a very good round. It's always decent points in every round and eventually your total score is decent too. But this PL seems hard to go however still we have the entire season left to be honest. Keep trying. Few good rounds will bring you in a place.

No games until the 20th now. Must be an international break.
It's a long break. I checked individual team fixtures and there are no other matches upcoming for them except the next PL match for them.

I am in position 42 out of 48 and that is worse than it looks because of inactive players Smiley This means worse than 80% of players in this pool,,, but on Tottenham fans group I am only worse than 75% of the players there so I feel at least I would be better off if players were worse here  Tongue

Also I am personally proud to get 15 results points, which is more than half of the players currently in the top 10 of this pool  Grin

Ole problem in Manchester United is he does not have discipline he is too easy on players even if they lost matches they are suppose to win, that's why his players are not improving, take a look at martial he is still the same, season after season, same style of drible not enough stamina and shot accuracy, he don't have a coach that will breath fire in their neck, same with Rashford, the Scott guy MACTOMINAY great players but the don't better there performance in the next game, they are always same way they are, they don't grow that's down to the coach. Ole don't know all this,he just put eleven player's on the pitch and expect to get results because they are good players.

Don't. This is round 11. 27 more rounds to go, that's almost 3 times as many as we've had to change your fortunes. And $50 for the yellow cap is good enough a weekly incentive, but you just never know how things can turn around. As they usually do in these pools over the marathon season.

Vacations for people who do sport for a living like is the case with football players is always welcome as they are tired from activities and the Premier League is well known for really tight schedules, well we haven't had one so far in this Premier League but December and January are almost here and we will see a lot of them.

Well it's only a break for those not good enough to get called up for international duty  Grin. Top tier athletes should able to work 5 days a week though. I know people who play 5 a side 5 days a week and they're not getting paid hundreds of thousands.
That bold part was exactly my point. Top players that played most minutes are on international duty. Holiday is just for those who are not playing big roles anyway and they could arguably use more training and even maybe a friendly match or two during the break.

I am playing 5 on 5 or 6 on 6 football my whole life and it is not quite the same. Those games last max 20 minutes per half in competitions and you have flying subs. Meaning I am playing 5 minutes and then resting 2 minutes almost always. In the glory days (while still at college) I used to play 6 days for fun (1 hour without subs) and then had a "game" on Sunday without problems. Now when I am near 40 years old, 3 times per week is max I can handle Smiley

Most of fatigue related injuries happen at the end of football matches, let's say last 15 minutes, which clearly shows compound effect of all those games. But I agree that top athletes should be more than fine with one day of rest after the game and then a couple of more days of training before next game. 4 days from game to game should be manageable in the long run but 3 days or 2 days (during holiday in PL) is not.
