Doesn't make any sense. I didn't ask for proof of the attempt to sell the account. And Texac had already admitted it anyway.

What you did was offer Texac to buy the account and told him that I'll escrow it. Which I would never do. That's what the red trust is for.

Fear enough. Just don't get the wrong impression that I wanted to buy the account.

~snip~
Does it mean that you had been trying to catch account seller red handed? But unfortunately seller already admitted it here. If this was your intention then you should inform suchmoon before communicate with the seller if he is agree or not. Or you should inform some other user who are active on this thread. Since you are unable to prove yourself innocent and you aren't trusted enough that's why you got negative feedback. Main thing you shouldn't involved suchmoon as a escrow.

For your information, Texac admitted here when he cought red handed to me. Although I don't need to prove that I had been trying to catch him and act like a account buyer but I informed via forum PM to @dkbit98 in advance that I am going to talk with Texac about account if he really want to sell it. So you should do same thing. I am against of account sales from beginning because I know how hard a build account and buyers could misuse it in future.

That is exactly what I did.I sent the second message only with the information that he would receive his proof.
The feedback is not important because I will not trade here, nor am I interested in signature campaigns. It's just a matter of reputation.

This is an open message to Suchmoon in regard to the negative feedback he left me. I suppose I'm on ignore, if someone can quote this post I would be grateful.

Hey Suchmoon.
I am writing here only to defend my position.
Will not bother you anymore.

I saw this thread > Spotted this guy selling his Hero account!
There was no clear evidence that this particular account was for sale, as you stated and notice the 3 neutral tags as well.
I decided to lend a hand in the investigation and sent a message to the seller.
Here it is:
Hey there,
Got a message on TG that you are selling your account, I want to buy it.
Use escrow?

Regards,
COVID-19

After I received a response from the user, I added you to the conversation as " the escrow" so you get the real proof for yourself and tag the account.
I guess the second message I sent you wasn't clear enough and you got confused that I'm actually buying the account, but I was referring to the answer of the seller as the "proof", and enough evidence to be tagged.
My mistake was that I didn't check the thread again, before I sent you the PMs.
One have to be very dumb to use the person who tagged the account for escrow, don't you think?
I could use one of the active ones like Og, MJ, DS_ or Krogo.

I wanted to make things clear to you.
Thank you for taking the time and reading this.

Regards,
COVID-19

This is like asking other people's if I can sell my own property or not ! Horribly centralized indeed.
No, it's like asking if a fake ID can be trusted.
I don't have much of a problem with account sales itself (and I don't think I've ever tagged someone for it). The main problem is pretending to be someone you're not.
You won't tell your neighbours they can't sell their next door property, but you'd like to know when it happens.

It's nice and humanly to see Texac getting a second chance out of this anyways.

No, it's like asking if a fake ID can be trusted. You obviously want to trust it so go ahead, others don't so they won't. My condolences if that's considered "centralized" in the alternate universe of plagiarising sockpuppeting ICO bumpers.

Leaving negative feedback for account sales is also okay with the forum rules.
Actually I had left negative feedback when he have admitted about account sales. But I surprised even a Hero member didn't noticed about his neutral feedback which have left by other DT members and he had agreed to send me account details upfront. I am pretty sure he wasn't aware about trust system and he really don't know account sales are dislike by community. If he knew before then he shouldn't sent me PM from his account.

What I believe seller badly need money and that was the reason he was looking for sale account. Personally I believe he isn't account farmer at all since I talked with him telegram. Even simply he is asking questions on this thread. Account farmers will never admit like this about account sale. He realized his mistake and he promised me that he will not attempt anymore to sell account. So I reconsider his negative feedback turn into neutral. But obviously it will turn negative again if I found change password and email in future.

It's just a second chance for him.

please tell me.  I can’t sell my account? is it really forbidden?
It's not against forum rules but most of community members don't like account sales. It would led to scam & spam in future after sold. As I talked with you it's true you are selling your account.  For reference I will post all chat history here.

If we could get any information from a moderator whether the mail address is the correct address of the account, it actually would be enough evidence.
But i doubt that any moderator will step in and give out this information "just because" of the sale of an account.
Not necessary, he have admitted to me via telegram and forum message as well.

I can assure this account has placed for sell.

Here is telegram chat history. His username is @Texac1985
@Texac1985
Archived.

Here is chat history.

Since he admitted I think I don't need to upload images. Here is our forum message.

I just need money and was not going to cheat.  I am ready to do it through escrow, but I do not know how to do it.

Archived thread for future reference

Since @Texac finally admitted, that's a solid proof now that I'm right about him in selling his BTT account. Like you said, most of the community members (including myself) doesn't like account sales even if it's allowed but discouraged. I rest my case then.

You may not scam/spam, but the new owner will look like someone who's been here for 6 years. Selling accounts is totally okay with the forum rules, but it's frowned upon:
18. Having multiple accounts and account sales are allowed, but account sales are discouraged.

Leaving negative feedback for account sales is also okay with the forum rules.

The case is quite complicated to me. To be honest I strongly believe this account has placed for sell as per provided all evidence on the post/reply. But since telegram become heaven for scammers and its possible to edit image so red tag shouldn't leave right now IMO.

The only possible to detect correctly by verify email address which will need moderators help. But since account sales isn't prohibited according to forum rules we can't expect help from moderators about this case. So it's better to leave neutral feedback which has left already by multiple DT members. I am trying to communicate seller on telegram from seller profile if really account placed for sell and for how much. But still haven't got any answer. I will update here if found anything else or reply from seller.

The evidence is pointing more and more towards the original owner of the account and that he is trying to sell it. However it is still inconclusive. The visible email could be a proof that whoever has the login details to the account made that screenshot while logged in to his account. But there is also a small chance that it could have been photoshopped where someone is trying to frame the guy for something. I think a simple edit with Photoshop could achieve similar results. Having said that, I don't think that is the case here considering the previous merit abuse, and ban evasion of the account user.

Without solid proof. Giving him a red trust is not the clever decision. It might be a double edge sword once the owner of the account denied that allegation and also if the telegram owner release a statement that he not the real owner. Although we can tag him for ban evasion and merit abused if ever the proof above will be verified that he is connected to a banned member here.

A message in the forum might be a solid proof to verify that he is in possession for that account.

Who are those still buying Btt accounts? What are they using it for? Bounties?

Bounties and scams.

I have been offered 0.5 btc for this account.

I would suspect the buyer would try to do escrows for a while and then get a large escrow for 5 or more btc.  Then run.

Okay I understand your point. But if you see the screenshot I've shared and dkbit98's own screenshot, there's a small difference. The one I've shared had his email visible, while dkbit98's screenshot has hidden email.

That's true, but he could have manipulated the screenshot to create the impression that he is in possession of the account.
You (and we) simply can not be sure. He might be just a scammer without any account.

A message however, would unmistakably prove it.

1. Moderators can easily see that he owns that account with his exposed email address.
2. He used same telegram account @Texac1985 for sending message in telegram about selling.
@Texac1985
@Texac1985

It does show that owner of that bitcointalk account Texac and telegram account @Texac1985 are owned by the same person.

Reading above posts helps.

Unfortunately there is no proof that he indeed is in possession of the account.

The next time when bringing something like this up, make sure to gain some proof that he really is in control of the account (e.g. by demanding a PM from this account).
With solid proof, this acc is going to receive negative trust ratings.

I'm only alarmed because I thought that account selling is not allowed (but it was already clarified and explained earlier by Pmalek). That's it and I understand now.

It looks like its Texac selling his own account, but I am not an expert when it comes to Telegram.

The telegram account may be owned by Texac but what's the proof that Texac1985 has sent the PM on telegram? How can you believe OP's words? This may be true but you can never be sure. A video of the chat and username may prove although.
It can be an attempt to destroy Texac reputation or red tag the account too.

It's not through DM, but in a Telegram group of Lydian Lion Global that popped out the message.

You can check the latest message yourself here (unless if he deletes it himself): https://t.me/LydianLionCommunity

And here's a screenshot which includes the TG group name:

I didn't intend to destroy his rep though, but I was just thinking of whoever have bought his account may do something fishy later on and everyone would think that the original owner himself might be responsible for it.

The mods will do nothing, account sales are not forbidden.

As Pmalek ( with better typing speed) said there is no proof he is the actual owner, but there are other possibilities it can also be a scam by someone pretending to have an account or it might be somebody who is trying to frame the real user by claiming he is going to sell it in order to have him tagged as revenge for god knows what.
No DT member would normally tag it just with this.

Shouldn't this thread be in the "Reputation/Scam-Accusation" board? I doubt "Meta" is the right place.

I just found Texac posting his Telegram handle several times, e.g. here:

After the merit system launched most of the newbies struggle to rank up. And if they get a high ranked account with a flexible price then why they will miss the chance? but today or tomorrow most of the sold accounts caught by someone here. And yes, the main motive of buying btalk account is earning money from this forum by doing bounty or signature campaign. It could be changed to do scam a huge amount.

Yes, people are buying accounts to cheat/multireg in well-paying bounty campaigns. Due the Merit-restrictions ranking up new accounts gets harder and people are looking out for old inactive accounts. Not long a ago, a dude was busted who owened more than 50 accounts.

Telegram is a place full of scammers, but in this case we can see his email and that he was logged in bitcointalk forum, so he could be selling his account.

But from the screenshot you can clearly see he is viewing his profile which he is logged in (The email address is hidden if it was someone else viewing the profile)

Yeah the e-mail address is a dead giveaway. There is still a slight possibility that someone could fake a screenshot like that so I'm not going to red-trust just yet unless the account changes hands (password/e-mail change).

Account sales are not moderated by the admins. They are not against the rules, but people don't really like to see that sort of thing here.
The offer might be legit or a scam attempt. Anyone can post a picture of any account profile and say that it is up for sale. He might or might not be the owner of that account. The only way to know for sure is to get him to PM you from the account to make sure he has account access. In that case you have proof that whoever has access to that account is trying to sell it. The account wont get banned but it will probably be tagged by DTs.

Okay thank you for clarifying that account selling is not against the rules as you said.

I would rather not bother sending him a DM though, but I'm just alerting about this account selling activity.

Because I thought that most of the accounts that are being sold and were used by others instead of the original owner were having red flags. Correct me if I'm wrong though.
