There are a lot of people who mined the coins well before big mining farms took hold of the mining industry and i know people were mining with their laptop with a decent graphic card and was able to earn coins in thousands in the earlier days and if you have that stock of coins with you, you really do not mind to spend some coins gambling, right now if you compare it with dollar valuation it is a huge amount, but that was not the case when some were earning in thousands using their laptop.
The only site where whales are always active is PD and mostly they win and most of them lose if they keep on rolling for a longer period.

$56k in a single bet is a good lot of money and that is why people are involved in betting and gambling. Can you imagine if you can get $56000 in a few hours ? No, You cannot.

Okay that's fair and all but at the other side of the spectrum is gambling can cause you to completely rip yourself a new one. having the mindset that this is achievable to most people is flawed in my honest opinion. play for fun and only bet what you can afford to lose or else you could end up like one of the poor souls who end up in a bunch of debt because that gambled to hard

I think not for whales. Whales don't care if they lose a lot of their money because they have a lot of them. But if you are not a whale, winning $56k would be a lot for you. Or even if you are a whale if you lost many bitcoins on many trades or gambling itself. It will also make you feel great.

That's a heck of a win and I can't even image how someone could even think about putting 1200$ on a single bet. Its probably either some rich guy who doesn't have anything else to do with his money or its a person that likes danger and playing risky but either way most people can't even get a x50 win playing on a few satoshi what about 0.18btc. I can even suspect him being on a loss right now because of all the losses he probably had before this bet and unless he stopped then all the losses he had after this bet as well.
