Hi All,

For those who are having problems...

Download the new 1.6 update released on 24/December at the website (http://www.starcoin.info/download.php)

If you get the checkpoint error and you have already updated to the new client for some reason or another corruption has occured in the chain...

To be able to fix you need to either redownload the blockchain from scratch or copy the chain from another working client and start the client with the command line option "-rescan".

Don't forget to backup your wallet before beginning this process just in case, and also don't forget to use the checkwallet/repairwallet command inside the debug console once the process is complete to confirm that your balance is corrected.

If anyone needs a hand feel free to drop me a pm.

Regards,

infin.

Did this, still says checkpoint too old. Will try again.

When StarCoin is accepted at Cryptsy,
how will it be traded?

People have to believe in the coin for them to trade their coins for it, right?
How are they going to believe in it?

Will the coin automatically start trading for LiteCoins and BitCoins if Cryptsy accepts it onto their site?

Took a few tries but my wallet now shows my correct balance, though it still says checkpoints too old no matter what.

@Dev: You should broadcast the checkpoint to solve the problem above!

Has the dev/others tried all available exchanges? Coinex, bter, etc, etc.

I'd love to see this on an exchange..

It used to be on cryptsy, but they took it down and are waiting on a fix. It has been months.

All cryptos are FIAT digital currency. Do not use.
Run the 'repairwallet' command... IF its available.

Has anyone noticed the junk coin graveyard  is growing ?

Who could be behind all this copy n paste garbage ? Huh

Something is definitely up with the client/nodes/coin. Again I got the blockchain downloaded (after a whole day), and it keeps showing checkpoint too old. My incoming transactions all appear in the transaction list, yet my balance shows 0, despite being the same wallet as I've always had.

Mark this as a scam coin. No wonder exchanges refuse to deal with it.

Does not appear to be one officially, and development has again slowed down/stopped apparently.

Is there still a site that trades in star coins?

thats cusious - i didn't set the addnodes in my config file and fully downloaded the blockchain yesterday - without any problem.

Yeah I know. I've tried it with/without. Sometimes it gets close to completion and then stops, and won't ever try again--keeps saying checkpoint too old. One time it did complete the download, and showed synced, but seconds later showed out of date again and refused to download the chain. I've seen others mention the issue.

This is the *only* client which I have issues with. Even dogecoin works fine, despite it being retarded.

Even bitcoin blockchain is far easier to download, I can usually get the whole thing down in under 2 hours. Not starcoin though.. 24 hours later it's still only like 90% complete, and then it dies.

the website is backup

http://starcoin.info/Starcoin.zip

with a diff of 0.01 there is some easy mining of this coin

Because ther is no issues with the coin, there was no reason for cryptsy to delist it.

If everyone can be asking him to relist it, perhaps he will, when he sees there is still big interest in this coin.

I made a support ticket about Starcoin under their "Coin Suggestions" tab and they just closed the ticket without ever responding. Sad

I know Cryptsy has been cutting coins that they think don't have active devs. Maybe if you could give them a shout and tell them that's everything is all good with the coin they will be more willing to add it back. Idk, it's worth a shot. Thanks for everything nzdude!

I sent you a PM btw

It doesn't help that there are issues. The new client fails to fully download the blockchain for me, and I'm apparently not alone. Even with the addnodes in my config.

Live like there is no tomorrow!
Thanks, atleast my miner is running now. I will give it a try.

What exactly did that  " -server" do? As I have never seen it before.

I just downloaded the new client and it is up to date, with the standard config file which is at the beginpost.

However, I'm unable to solo mine. Could a solo miner send me the text of his .conf file?
Here is my starcoin.config

listen=1
daemon=1
server=1
rpcuser="Pick any username"
rpcpassword="Pick any password"
rpcallowip=127.0.0.1
rpcport=18217
addnode=198.50.233.16
addnode=63.246.129.56
addnode=192.241.182.189
addnode=37.229.117.57
addnode=172.250.241
addnode=198.50.233.16
addnode=188.252.16.109
addnode=216.158.85.123
addnode=69.9.152.126
addnode=63.246.129.56
addnode=198.136.62.201
addnode=108.62.211.51

Create a shortcut of the original starcoin-qt, right click the shortcut, click properties, and at the end of the "Target" path add " -server" with the included space so that it looks something like this

http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa257/alastrim1/Starcoinserver.png

then just point your miner to 127.0.0.1:18217 with your selected username and password and you should be good to go.
