Well ... it really makes sense. No, it's not that waiting exactly exactly 5 years ... I mean that just buy or forget about bitcoins (if bought) for a while it's great. You can ... even preferably not follow the news about crypto-currencies. And after a while it's nice to be surprised (most likely) ... and then much less nerves will be spent. And then some scream already ...
There are plenty of predictions about Bitcoin prices at the end of this year and next year. I think you can come back after a year or two. If you leave Bitcoin for 5 years I think you will regret it. Daily technology, blockchain and Bitcoin. After a few years, you will be surprised and regret your work.
I am also saying bitcoin will be there after 5 years.
So bitcoin has a future as a digital asset. 
This not the way to go by abandoning Bitcoin for some time because bitcoin need us to continue the support which we are bringing to the system. The issue of bitcoin being used for various crime was as a result of choice by some of us. The intention for Bitcoin was mere P2P transaction so that the extra charge by involving third party will be eliminated. The choice using bitcoin for terror, drug and money laundry were bad choice made by man and never what bitcoin was made for.
Actually in this time i have bitcoin, i will hold in and after5 years, five years later bitcoin price will make high in the market. When i will sell it and earn good profit of bitcoin. So i will stay in bitcoin in five years to hold it seriously.
Bitcoin will rise much earlier than in 2-5 years ! Next year will start an uptrend ! I don't think you should risk not entering the market ! This is my opinion .

The time you set is very long and you are also very negative in your statements. Bitcoin will not stay at the 6k mark until the end of the year because it will surely pump. Well basically you have a freedom to do anything that you want which can be good to you. Do whatever will make you so happy and if it's leaving bitcoin then go for it. But for me I still want to encourage you to keep in touch in this system because this is the next big thing. Well bitcoin has been through a lot these days but it's about to launch again. 
You can stay away from bitcoin, sell them all and do the silver way but i have my own way of treating bitcoin too. I can stay away from bitcoin even for a decade but i am going to make sure that i'll keep them in my wallet because i know bitcoin is going to come back anytime soon and what i am doing is the gold way.

It's really up to you but for me that isn't a good idea as of now because I still have high hopes for this system. Well basically I have a strong feeling that it will still be able to rise again from the mud. You have the freedom to do it but I'm encouraging you to keep in touch with bitcoin because at some point in our life it has been so good.

it is very narrow viewed to think that btc criminal activity is a big factor, btc can be tracked and most likely wil be traced in near future by regulators. This is not an issue.
If you cant take the fluctuations, just say so and come back after a year.

whoever call bitcoin as either fraud or ponzi scheme has no in depth understanding regarding cryptocurrency. but once they fully understand it, they will love crypto at all angles. a lot are still beginners or just starting to know bout crypto, so expect various opinions arising, good or bad perspectives. you know better if you are a crypto user for long long time.
I guess you are thinking absolutely right. If bitcoins survives that time there will be 2 possibilities. Either it will be bronze or it will be gold or may be it will completely be vanish from the world. Hope for the best
Staying away from bitcoin for 5 years is not a bad decision to make on these days. I know price falling 20k to 6k is very hard to accept if you invested big amount of money and i think the best thing to do is to wait until the price of bitcoin reach 20k again then sell all of it because that might be the last time bitcoin will reach that huge amount.

This is a great risk if anyone will say is turning away for 5yr you are on a high risk because fluctuations doesn't mean stagnancy but rather it can shift from one level to another level and that will surprise you about the drastically change that will occur
Fluctuation of prices really occurs in cryptocurrency, i think no one can adjust or manipulate its price by decreasing anf increasing its value. But one thing comes into my mind about fluctution of the prices, i think it is the volume of the coins that makes it increase its price or decrease, bitcoin has the most volume coin and it is ranked at first for its high value. Eventhough now it is facing some slippage of its price.
Its a normal thing for the price of bitcoin to fluctuate. But that doesn't mean it would go off to low price. I believe in the next 2-5 years bitcoin will surpass dollars
You can go now and come back in five years. I can bet that you will be shocked at what price you will meet bitcoin. Don't mention five years as if you mean five days. A lot, in terms of adoption, would have happened even within the next two years that will definitely propel the price of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.
