Verified awesomeness ✔
Steam has indeed added Bitcoins to their payment system (see my screenshot below), which is neat, but I'm still using steamgamesbtc and steambitshop because they often have discounted items from a previous sale that is no longer available on Steam.

This is a good thing.

If more people use bitcoin in their transactions, more volume will be there. And high volume usually means price increase. Good job Gabe.

Maybe it will affect the market a bit but I do not think it will be changing a lot because of this to be honest.
Its nice but I think the offers will be the same as normally.

I think we might see influx of Steam items now. Some people are hoarding a lot of BTC and will use it to buy popular items like CS:GO or Dota2 Keys for resale.
I imagine that will make prices of items slightly lower on 3rd party markets.

Looks like steam is finally going to accept bitcoin!!!!

Curious if that will affect the people selling games on the bitcoin talk? And the various other websites you can buy steam at.
Smiley While it will definitely help break down geographical payment boundaries and the associated issues, it definitely won't affect the third-party sales market because generally the prices are so much more competitive (once case where geographical pricing actually works in favour of the guys willing to take a educated gamble in where they source their keys from)

Regarding your question, I doubt there would be any significant effect in terms of people behavior for using 3rd party websites in order to purchase games at cheaper prices as opposed to what their listed in Steam, in which are higher (some have significant difference). Aside from what I said, there are many who still don't know these 3rd party websites or rather these sellers here in forum and still will go ahead and pay whatever price they see on Steam (I get to know them just since last year and usually paid the normal price myself).

We had many bitcoin steam individual resellers and big services like G2A offering Steam games for btc in the past.
And they are going to stay, nothing is gonna change because these they are usually offering lower prices for games that Steam.

Buying games from Steam directly is only advised if:

1. You can't find the game you want anywhere else. (very unlikely)
2. There is Steam Sale going on.

Even then you should not directly put BTC into steam. Steam wallet funds are worth less than paypal/BTC so you can get like 10-20% off.
For example, you can buy CS:GO keys for around 1.9 to 2$ in BTC and sell them on the community market for around 2.5$. Or buy skins from bitskins.com too.

This is true, but not anybody knows about bitskins or the key thing, there will surely be new customers which have bitcoin to spend.

What am I supposed to tell you it's a referral link? Sorry didn't realize that. I'll add it to the original post? Or should I just take the link down?

To be honest a quick search of Steam bitcoin throws up many a thread. So it would be a better idea to just archive this thread.. But if you want it to stay, you can always simply edit your original link, if you cant, it doesnt really matter . Not everyone is an ass when it comes to referrals links like me
Well I removed the referral part for now. Thanks for being an ass! Lol

This is the 3/4/5/6/7/8 post about said news since it was leaked through steamworks developer forums...

Oh and reported for referral abuse

CryptoTalk.Org - Get Paid for every Post!
Lol, it's just a rumor at this moment:

"While many bitcoin enthusiasts and online communities predict the integration of Bitpay considering the discovery of Bitpay command lines a few months ago, the Bitpay team hasn’t released any statement yet regarding their partnership with Steam."

Maybe it can become true, but let's wait an official message...

It's definitely way overdue. And exciting!
I just figured there wouldn't be a need for all the websites that sell games and steam codes anymore. It would be much easier to buy direct. And possibly safer.
