Bitcoin: An Idea Worth Spending
Great read.  Though not Bitcoin, appropriate post.

Also, do a google search for 'http://www.webspawner.com/users/extrosgpotvin/' brings up this link http://www.ringolab.com/note/daiya/archives/urls.txt which should be funny for all you Tor / Silk Road / Deep Web users, that is how we used to keep our bookmarks back in the day, and it seems that type of link sharing has made a comeback thanks to search engines being too good at what they do lol

Go to http://www.webspawner.com/users/extrosgpotvin/ and you'll see an ad for ButterflyLabs. ONLY an ad, for the wall of text is gone. Vanished. Ceased to... or “He's not pining, he's passed on. This parrot is no more. He has ceased to be. He's expired and gone to meet his maker. He's a stiff, bereft of life, he rests in peace. If you hadn't have nailed him to the perch he'd be pushing up the daisies. He's rung down the curtain and joined the choir invisible. This is an ex-parrot!”

Wow that story is fascinating.  Can't believe I never heard of SG before.

Thanks for sharing

I did not spend a penny, but used to read some of the posts in their forum.
They used to talk about looking out the window hoping the FedX truck would arrive with their $25,000 check from a (slightly) overdue payment.   Cheesy

I remember the funniest time online back then, was when they shut the site down, people were trying to figure out who was behind it, the rumors started circulating, and then someone posts a pic in the forum claiming they have a pic of the stockgeneration office in Slovania or somewhere.

They show a pic of a run down office in the ghetto with a sign hanging in the window that was photoshopped in. Then came crockgeneration.com the parody.

I guess it was funny to me because I had emotions tied up in it, wondering all kinds of things, after having invested about $150

Maybe you might be able to get your $150 back via a Jalapeno (originally a $149 value).

Freedom Capital Formation. As I write this, there's a huge boom in technology stocks, particularly Internet stocks. Great value is being created and added to the economy. This value is reflected in the total market valuation of technology stocks. It also represents capital formation. Unfortunately, all this capital is measured in terms of the enemy's currency. The companies involved are corporations in the enemy camp. They pay corporation taxes to the enemy, file reports with the enemy, collect individual taxes on behalf of the enemy, etc.

The Economic Means to Freedom requires that capital formation also take place in the real free-enterprise sector (underground economy). Anthon L. Hargis & Co. operates a "fledgling" free market share exchange. This and/or similar exchanges (as well as private banking outside the enemy system) need to expand dramatically. Maybe Laissez Faire City can play a role here. At least some of the balances in e-gold accounts can be regarded as freedom capital.

In general, economic resources and activities shifted from the public and private sectors into the real free-enterprise sector constitute freedom capital formation. Additionally, capital can be created in the real free-enterprise sector itself through the formation and expansion of real free-enterprise ventures. There are also offshore ventures such as Stockgeneration that greatly facilitate freedom capital formation.

Would you like to see 100's of other sites on WebSpawner (owned by Sonny Vleisides) that are now currently running ads for ButterflyLabs? Search yourself, using the keywords Kansas, Lottery, Costa Rica, et al.

Seems like the dishonest entity is bitrebel and not mtGox after all. I anticipate the chances for bitrebel to stand by his promises and honour the bets to be exactly 0%. Well done, bitrebel!

still taking bets ...  Cool

bitrebel, I bet you 8 BTC that mtGox will be back again, and trades will continue as usual, will you honour this bet? The reason I bet 8 BTC is that's what I've got in my wallet now. (Never bet more than you can risk to lose, haha).

The 8 BTC will have to be paid to my account once mtGox starts operating again. On the other hand, if mtGox is not online and operating before 1st of July, you can have my 8 bitcoins. Smiley

So, I asume you will now honour my bet? I came here to collect. Please, now send 8 BTC to my adress in my sig. Let's see if you're a real genteleman, or just full of it. Smiley

you guys are fools if u dont think the EXACT same thing is happening here.. anyone with significant deposits is already putting in reversals (me included) and will withdraw as soon as possible.

even if gox was TOTALLY legit this mass exodus is enough to

A) have all major payment services DROP them due to excessive fraud risk because of the reversals
B) the bank they're running out of will probably also shut them down, see A)
C) most of the player account balances have probably already been spent/withdrawn.  They keep enough on-hand to slow-pay people withdrawing.  This is yet another hallmark of a scam/scheme... slow-paying, robbing peter to pay paul, etc.  Til it all collapses (collapse imminent)

yeah, they'lk be up and running again (with a minimal site that they're loathe to put money into), but good luck withdrawing... lol.

Who is this mark kaspereto or whatever?  I mean chris gavin i've seen him talk.. i trust him.. but just cuz bitcoins are solid doesnt mean all the players are saints.. if anyone knows the mark kaspareto ask yourself.. does he like the finer things in life? does he have a supermodel GF, flashy cars, etc.. if he does.. u can kiss yer money goodbye lol.

From a brief google search I found he had a background in encryption. Could be French Mossad?

While in theory Bitcoin isn't tied to any central authority, the reality was/is that its only usage - besides buying some alpaca socks and heroin - was through trading on these exchanges. There was/is nothing "decentralized" about Bitcoin when all you do is pass through through Mt. Gox or Tradehill.
Supposedly, even the buying of illegal drugs like heroin was dependent on Mt. Gox, with sellers pricing their goods in USD and using scripts to automatically update the BTC price. The whole thing is astoundingly centralised.

Fantastic post, Bitrebel.

More interesting than the mechanism of the pyramid scheme was its description of the cognitive dissonance exhibited by the poor saps. So bad was their need to reconcile their misjudgment that they continued to laud praise and support for stockgeneration even after having lost money. Not too much different than the peons here who post thier praises of Mt. Gox and make excuses for them - clearly these post are more about convincing themselves.

Again, the most bizarre thing I've noticed in this Bitcoin game are these die-hard exclamations that Bitcoin is somehow not Mt. Gox, despite the plain-as-day fact that Mt. Gox up until its "crash" was the only real market to liquidate and trade Bitcoin.

I am quite willing to bet a bitcoin that MtGox will reopen.

Whether it will persevere in the long term is somewhat hard to estimate, but reopen it will (which is the subject of the bet, right?).

Always verify deals with me through my public key!
eggs.....baskets.....funds.....exchanges.....brokers.....etc

Get it now?!?

Mt.Gox is a piss poor solution filling a massive demand to trade. It's only held up this far because it could handle the volumes in a relatively fast manner, certainly didn't get it's status for Security or Automated trading options.

The bitcoin market is now yearning for a PROFESSIONAL exchange but all we've got going is amateur night. Would be sweet if Oanda picked us up Tongue
