P2P exchange will take btc to a whole new level.

To that end, take a look at these guys...read further and you'll find people working on this project are also actively working on a P2P distributed version, though this project is not focused on it, some of it's developers are.

Until a crypto exchange is run like a real exchange, like CME for example, DDOS will always be possible.  Has nothing to do with "code" and everything to do with infrastructure and security.

No one can take down CME Globex.  Not in their wildest dreams.

Those exchanges are typically "protected" by having private networks that only exchange members can, privately, access

Brokers, such as Charles Schwab, that connect to global exchanges are routinely taken down by DDOS attacks
