Doing it gradually is the best way to stop i used to smoke 1 complete package every day then decreased it to half a package a day until i reached 1 cigarette per day stayed at that rate for a month or so then completely stopped
Yeah, doing that combining with fixing a date could be a good beginning! Maybe fixing deadline on every step could be helpful so
Nope,if you really wanted to stop then do it once not by lessening the usage because i do that for how many times before and i fail.

I am a smoker that can take many packs a day and i tried doing this but failure is what i got.

Until one day i did it completely,Flushing my remaining cigarettes in Toilet bowl and throwing my lighter in back yard.

SInce then i stopped smoking and it was almost 5 years now that i am free from smoking for 3 decades of smoking.

Hello, a little update on stopping with smoking!

Well it's more then a year ago that I quit smoking tabacco, and I still dont smoke cigarettes Cheesy
Since Corona my brother is living home again and I am smoking some hash with him again.

But I have no desire to start smoking cigarette's again!
1 of the big advantages is that I save a lot more money, before when I got any money I would most of the time spend it on tabacco and weed.
Now I dont even know what to do with it, I put some more in to Crypto's of course, also bought a big boxing bag so I can lose some weight.
Because I did gain some weight because I started eating a little more, then before also with corona almost no exercise.

But I am happy for sure that I quit those stinking toxic cigarettes, and if I can do it you guys can do it to!!

Your writing was great. It was a bit of fun But you have said many important things. But I would like to share some of my own experiences with you, I'm trying to quit smoking long ago  You may not believe that I have dug up almost everything you said, but I can't give up.If you have any good tips to quit smoking, tell me I want to quit smoking in exchange for everything.৷ Because I waste a lot of money on smoking Angry
First you need to find why you are smoking a lot, especially at what conditions! And try to rectify it. You can't stop smoking over night just try to reduce the number of cigarettes over time and some day you will be smoking lot less and even it can lead to complete Stop.

WOW!! This deserves a prize for digging this up  Grin

Actually, this is a useful topic.
I did not quit smoking but changed to IQOS due to the prohibition of menthol flavored cigarettes in Europe.
It takes a while to get used to, but I think this is a better choice. I reduce smoking, it is one of the few pleasures I have. very difficult do leave at all.
And I notice that I sleep better, and breath better.
This is a controversial topic, because I know that is bad for your health, and they must use some kind of replacements that are also not good for you.

Anyone in the IQOS world? Did you notice some changes as well?

Even though smoking is harmful to health we know that we all do it because it has become a habit for us. If we have good intentions we can avoid smoking cessation The main reason for smoking is our lack of goodwill. Even though smoking causes harm to our health, we love it because we smoke.

I never smoked, but people who smoke told me that quitting smoking is not as easy as it sounds. As far as I understand, it's like when you really want to eat a cake, when you are on a diet, but 10 times harder.

Yes is it kinda like that, You can also replace smoking with eating because it releases dopamine in the brain, that is why a lot of people who stop smoking will gain weight.
I think finding a replacement is a good thing to do but it should be healthy otherwise you will just trade 1 bad habbit for another bad one.

Strongly agree with the opinion above, that quitting smoking is something that is just as difficult when you like gambling. the more prohibited the more you will feel like something is missing from yourself. it all has to depend on yourself to want a change, even though it's easy to say but difficult when practiced. remember if there is a will there will be a solution.

Back when I used to smoke pack and a half a day I used the tactic that you describe. I counted my cigarettes for 2 weeks and then I try to reduce my intake by 2 cigs a week. Even though most people around me didn't support this tactic (you must stop cold turkey they said), it worked pretty well for me. In about 2 months I reduced my habit to half a pack (10 cigarettes) but I just didn't get all the way to 0. It stayed like that for next 2 years (half a pack). But on december 20th i stopped completely for about two weeks and then I gradually start again. Now I smoke about 4 cigarettes a day. I still smoke but if you consider that I could smoke up to 30 (or more) cigarettes a day I would say I improved.

Hi buddy, I have a suggestion for you to get used to chewing gum to replace cigarettes  Wink

I also think this is a good advice, because no matter how strong your power of will is you're still going to experience some strong cravings. Especially when you get to your triggers (alcohol, cafe, after lunch, etc.)... you will feel a strong urge to smoke so it's good to have something to redirect your thoughts from smoking.  Grin

I am trying, using Iqos for now
what is Iqos?sorry but this is the first time i hear about this to be used as alternative for smoking?

I think you either stopping smocking or not. And by all these substitudes like chewing gums, sucking lolipops, etc you are just getting a new addiction.
if you want to quit,do it alone without any remedy or alternative because that only proves you have no Guts and dedication to make it happen.

I never smoked weeds and I have stopped smoking cigar.
I started by making myself busy with something else hanging out with my friends and reading or watching a lot of anime at home.

My brother is a hard-headed guy, we are becoming secondhand smokers with the smoke that he's spewing out of his mouth since we're all living in one house currently.

I now understand the struggle of the ones that are into smoking and it's not that easy to quit. Even how hard you will explain to them, it won't come to an instant quit.

Does he smoke inside the house?

I used to smoke a lot of Weed and Cigarettes everyday, I would spend 20 euro every 2 days on it.
The thought to stop smoking was always there, but the enjoyment I would get out of it was greater then the will to stop smoking.

Untill last summer (more then 4 month's ago now) I chose a date 1 Sept and just quit smoking weed and cigarettes that day.
It has been going well sometimes I still crave to smoke weed especially when I meet people that I used to smoke weed with.

If u want to quit I have a few tips for you:
Choose a date to quit, and announce it to people around you.
Download apps on your phone to help you quit (I used Flamy) but I am sure there are others.
Calculate how much money you are spending on your smoking and think about how much you couldve invest in Crypto and think how rich you would have been  Grin
Stop seeing people around you that smoke and find a replacing thing to do.
Instead of smoking eat fruits.

If u need any help you can always Pm me and we can stop smoking togheter Smiley

Very few have the strength to quit smoking. I have never smoked because I am very careful with my body, but I sell cigarettes for extra money, and although I do not smoke, my colleagues do, and it is unpleasant not to smoke and be in an environment of pure cigarette smoke. I have a friend who, when I don't carry cigarettes, produces a lot of anxiety and despair, why does that happen? I think that if someone wants to control their anxiety, they can do it in a healthy way, I do it through exercise, I don't go to the gym, I just download a Google Play application and with that I train, I feel good, and with more strength. And without damaging my body.
