LOL. You're really weird cause you're the only one who complaining because of receiving merit in this forum. You should know that there are tons of Newbies wanna get only 1 merit to rank up to Jr but they still can't Smiley). I think just because they found that your post is helpful that why they gave you merit for it.

The amount of sMerits involved (35) still leaves the account rather short of the 250 required for the next rank (currently 111 shy of Sr. Member). If they were purchased sMerits, it would be pretty dumb to do so in an amount that leaves him so short of the next rank, and then putting the focus on his account from here on end. It really does not add-up to a logical smart move, and I’m not too inclined to believe at this stage that it is anything more than the OP states.

Now knowing that your account is in the spotlight, simply don’t do anything silly with those earned sMerits.

Bit of reverse psychology in play here?

‘I received Merit which I’m not interested’
‘I’m not here to rank up, I’m happy with my rank’

Is this code for - ‘I’m an honest guy, give me Merit so I can rank up’

Forgive me but I don’t trust you OP Cheesy

I even have no idea how many merits I need to upgrade to Sr. Member but I do not care, trust me.
You have no idea how much merits you do need ranking up to Sr Member? Enough, a member concerned that merit has given in wrong post/undeserved post but don't know how many merit is required for rank up. Silly joke.

Btw I will share all the smerits as you guys commented previously, let’s continue with the cycle. If you have a deserved thread, just share the link.
Best.

Or, you have bought the merits and acting here like as you don't know anything? This can be true as well. If so, smart act. Carry on, bruh.
You have gotten 8 from an account trader and 20 from a scammer. Nice story you made. I would give you oscar for your self made story and act. Carry on, bruh.

Hey, don’t be angry with me. It looks like your account was banned for any reason and you created a new account to create some fud, it is not a smart move. I just shared a strange situation and as I explained before I don’t need merits, with my full member account is more than enough to manage my campaigns, I even have no idea how many merits I need to upgrade to Sr. Member but I do not care, trust me.

Receiving merits is not a problem, you should be happy with it.
I know what you are concern of but if you have nothing to hide, there is nothing to be worry about.

Keep doing what you normally do, and just let people who appreciates it by sending their merits to you.

If the merits can not be revoked, I can not do anything else.
Obviously! you can send it to others user who are making quality/good post. It's not bad that you have shown your transparency. Because may be later on someone could accuse you for merit abuse. You have received 39 merit till now, so you can send 19 merit to others user as well. So no need to worry about your received merit since you have described the situation, and spread your merit to others users whoever is good poster in your opinion.

Hello guys,

I am a bounty manager here on btt and before that, I was a bounty hunter since last 2017. I didn't write a single post since October'18 when I finished my last bounty campaign. Some of those campaigns are still the payment in process and some others were completed. After that, I have been checking the forum for different stuff daily, but I am not active as a btt member (writing posts).
Today I noticed about my merits counter increased from 103 to 138, in two days. I was talking about that with some bitcointalk reliable member and it is really strange this situation and we thought that we had to report this situation here.

Great appreciation for you with this event would like to share stories about how to receive a service gift that might be outside the applicable rules or whatever, even though it is out of the ordinary habit that should occur. indeed it doesn't hurt to share the story so that in the future there will be no misperception.

First of all, I DON'T want any merit, I don't need them. I don't pretend to upgrade my account to Sr. Member because I feel really confortable with my actual rank, it is good enough.
I decided send a PM to these bitcointalk users and ask them why they sent me these merits:

-snip-

Actually for me this is a dilemma about providing services, it is very difficult to determine and ensure that the rules given to provide services themselves, seeing your situation may be due to sympathy for you as a gift manager. Appreciate your good work as long as you hold a position, not with a specific purpose or it can be with intention because of the position attached at that time. even though you yourself don't ask for and want the gift.

You're the first person I've seen complaining about receiving merits

A month ago one of the bounty managers also complained that he has got merit from a user with a bad reputation.

Maybe some members don't send merit because they are fear that their accounts accidentally will be connected with untrusted men.

I sorta understand OP, had a similar experience back in September I think. A dude bombed me with a max 50 merits out of nowhere for some random premine scam I exposed. I didn't end up making a thread about it though I considered it strongly. It feels weird even to this day and I see why OP wants to be open about it.

I could see a merit abusing account farmer pull a bait and switch by posting this type of thread.

Because of all the shit that I've seen in the last few months, I can see why you're skeptical. I just don't find a motive in this particular case. Why would he risk his reputation for some merit? Higher rank i.e Sr.member wouldn't net him more gigs, rather his work and positive feedback will.

I agree it could look shady, but I'm cynical enough that this thread makes the situation look even more shady.  I could see a merit abusing account farmer pull a bait and switch by posting this type of thread.

Grin Grin thought I was the only one thinking in this direction, but again judging from previous signature (bounty) threads I have seen, participants tends to use merits to appreciate the Campaign manager therefore the case here might not be different.

rig4hodlers since you aren't interested in the merit system I would suggest each time you received merits you offload the smerits to other active users in the merit system. Don't hoard them it does no good to your account. It's not mandatory to make use of the merit system but you can consider it an obligation (that you can pass on to others) to make use of smerits to keep the cycle going.

I'm complaining because it looks shady or even someone can think about I just tried to buy/get them to upgrade my account and that's really annoying for me.

I'm not accusing you of anything nefarious, just pointing out my skepticism and cynicism.   Cool

I decided write this thread after consulting to some DT bitcointalk member and another reliable member. I don’t like post this thread but we thought it will be better. I wanted to confirm if there was any possibility to remove the merits assignment because for me they are useless.
And who knows if someone had experienced the same situation (really strange) and we could track some value information for the benefit of the forum.

I might be wrong, but it could one of ass-licking method where the sender hope the receiver (in this case OP is the receiver) would send them back some merit or got better/special treatment, even though it doesn't make sense that they're doing it now.

If they wanted to get that, they are on the wrong way. Thanks for your comments guys.

You can't revoke merits. You're the first person I've seen complaining about receiving merits. If you don't care about merits just ignore it and move on.

Even if many members on the forum do not necessarily care, the small ecosystem of the bounty campaigns is full of tensions, jealousies, power fights...

Considering that the debate around Merits/Trust is an important topic here, it is probably not useless to point out this kind of " strangeness " as the OP does.
This may avoid avoiding accusations of Merit abuse in the future, that kind of thing..

It is also interesting to note that 3/4 of the generous members are part of the same signature campaign ( ArtCoin in this case). ArtCoin is managed by a Bounty Manager with multiple red-trust

TBO, Perhaps no link between this information, but it is interesting to keep it in memory

As far i know, the OP is a serial bounty manager.. and after taking in mind what Hellmouth42 said, maybe this was an strategy to accuse him in the future of merit abuse, so if i where him , i would probably done exactly the same... alert community! better safe than sorry

Hello, thanks for the quick answer, I'm complaining because it looks shady or even someone can think about I just tried to buy/get them to upgrade my account and that's really annoying for me. If someone gave me some merits when I launched a bounty campaign or something like that, it is ok, but in this case, it doesn't make sense. I never saw that before.
If the merits can not be revoked, I can not do anything else.

kotwica666 - https://bitcointalksearch.org/user/kotwica666-303259
Cryptock - https://bitcointalksearch.org/user/cryptock-251145

I just received the answer from two of them:

It is really strange this situation and I would like to know if there is any possibility to revoke these merits because as I said, I don't need them and I was never into any problem here on btt, just the opposite.
I was wondering if someone or any other bounty manager is trying to damage my bitcointalk profile account. For my honest opinion, it doesn't make sense because I have no enemies here on the forum and I am not active as bounty manager, just waiting a good project to manage the campaign, that's all.

Thanks for your replies and help in advance.
Best.
