yes, I am seriously regretting it now too..

I have oooh half a years hard labor stuck in shitcoin at the moment, and so far Ian has managed one half hearted attempt at "service" email.

Will keep trying, eitherway, I will get my hard earned back.

Been hearing bad stuff about strongcoin lately, pretty much only way to withdraw is use sam computer you created wallet on. Or, you can export private keys and import to blockchain. Not sure if you need password for that tho.

tried blank too..

fuck !!

problem is, there is no password to remember. At no point in setting up my account did I create a private key pass or a second password. I have just the main one which I can log in fine with but is not recognised when trying to decrypt my private key Sad((

what a headache !!
edit. either i forgot my old strongcoin passwords, or this is another bug in their system. it is possible their server is overloaded(site seems pretty slow) and the requests are failing to process. also the client could be down on their server. send an email to support about it.

try leaving the field blank if you haven't set up a password for the key. that might work. otherwise, you're sol unless you remember the password

OK,

Im doing exactly that, and it asks for my password to get my private key.

I enter my pass (only one I have) and its say invalid password ?

I have my paper back up, but the private key on there is encrypted.

lol dunno

right now, I cannot even find where in my shitcoin account I can export.

and yes, I only have my main password. I have no memory of ever creating a private key pass, and am confident I could never of as I do always save passwords etc.

dude, i'm only going to say this once. your password is used to decrypt your private key. think of it as a a brain seed. without password protection, anyone could get your private key. whatever your password is is the password you must enter to send payment or to export(unencrypt and reveal) your private key.

ok here is how you decrypt your private key in strong coin.

click on the label (name of your) address from your accounts main menu to be taken to a page with settings and info of your address. under where it displays your balance for that address click the light teal(blue) button that says "Decode private key" copy the key and save it as a text file. then use the method  i taught you a few posts up to import it into bitcoin qt.

ok thank you !!

and that will "in theory" export my coins from shitcoin.com sorry, strongcoin Wink and onto my wallet ?

I'm trying to settle me nerves here, kinda shit a big brick today lol

really appreciate your help

yes, it will import your address. your coins don't exist in any wallet, they only exist in the blockchain, where they are shown as belonging to your wallet. exporting your private key and importing it into the client will download the transaction history of your account from the blockchain(this takes a few minutes and the bitcoin client might become unresponsive but whatever you do, do not close it, just let it finish). then quit the client and restart. it will rescan the blockchain automatically. please note once you have restarted after importing it will take an abnormally long amount of time for the client to load(about 10 minutes on my T6400 2.0 GHz core duo 4gb) once reloading the client, you should see your full balance and transaction history of your address.

I'm confused now.

I thought the OP didn't know his private key? Or have access to it.

What am I missing here?

ok

thank you

would you mind explaining to me what I would have to do to import my wallet key etc.

I do have the bitcoin wallet.

basically all I want is my damn bitcoins back under my control lol

go to strong coin and export your private key in base 58 or bitcoin qt format.

open bitcoin qt and go to the debug window. click on the tab that says console. type the following code

Code:
importprivkey

its important you leave one space in between the importprivkey command and your key as well as inbetween yourkey and your label. also quotes are unnecesary for your label here is what an example command would look like

Code:
importprivkey 5knsl23slaldjfanal4jljDKLWJL332324lkal myaddress

ah could be

thanks you..!!

what if I have cleared my cache etc ? i always log on to strongcoin via tor and never store anything.

so there are not TWO passwords, just one, as I believed there was ?

dude, you can't send money with strong coin, or atleast not the last time i tried. something is wrong with their site. you can export your private key and import it to blockchain.info, or you could bite the bullet and download bitcoin client and import your address, ultimately saving you some stress in the long run. however you will have to remember your password. if it asks for a second password and you haven't set it up, just enter your normal password again

Hi,

Really hoping someone can advise all help me out here as I think, I have screwed up Smiley...as usual

Strongcoin account, set up, password etc.
Never can remember being asked for or creating any private key.
been merrily deposting my coins into my strongcoin address.

Today, I came to withdraw and found myself being asked for private key password. Dont, have one, never made one...

what the hell I do ?? and typically it is not a few BTC..

any help would be appreciated...

From the Strongcoin website....

"A hybrid wallet allows you to send and receive Bitcoins just like any other wallet. However, the Bitcoin private key which is required to send money is encrypted in your browser before it reaches our servers".

Are you trying to withdraw using a different computer to the one you signed up on?

If so, that could be your problem.
