Permanently barring him does seem a bit harsh. They could have given a temporary ban instead.

Mark Zuch got away with "murder" at Harvard.
He launched Facebook after hacking into the schools computers, so he would have free hosting.

And I thought Mark Zuch was squeaky clean!

Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin interesting.

...Doggie might be a silly joke, but the people who enjoy it are having fun and making money.  Smiley

...which, while still fun, detracts somewhat from the joke.  Cheesy

BBQcoin started as a joke (still is), but never had that much buzz.
I completely ignored DOGE at the start, but now I like the fast transactions and super low fees.

Why would someone risk their education for something as worthless as Dogecoin?

Because they're worthless people to begin with

That is pretty harsh.

Why did he not mine a CPU coin instead if he had access to a supercomputer? Must be a real retard, this is what happens when schools accept student based on the amount of donations their parents are willing to invest in their kids education.

That's hilarious, too bad it doesn't say how they caught the student.

I remember reading a story a while back about how a teacher set every computer in his classroom to mine Bitcoin.

I did something similar at my college however it wasn't worth the hassle of setting up the computers.

I wonder if the supercomputer's hashrate was high (doubt it would be)?

The university permanently blocked the individual in question from all research computing facilities, saying their actions were “strictly prohibited for fairly obvious reasons”.

Short article, cute picture.
