If $3mil is spent on the ad, it would probably be worthwhile to spend another mil with an advertising agency (as opposed to some amateur submissions)

like that idea.

but the video is to long and "to complicated" and to quit most times. no one would watch it.

i would try a funny style or more fear style.

I'd like to see short spots that show off the state of fiat currencies.  No need to mention bitcoin directly.  There are other organizations that might be willing to contribute.  Something like this near the end of the game would be nice.  (Switch Euros and other currencies for Dollars in the appropriate regions):

Quote
Dollars printed by U.S. since kickoff today:
     xxx,xxx

Dollars printed by U.S. since 1/1/2014
     xx,xxx,xxx,xxx

  Total U.S. dollars in circulation:
     xxx,xxx,xxx,xxx,xxx,xxx,xxx

Total U.S. dollars backed by gold or silver:
     0

(I don't know what the actual numbers would be, so "x" above is obviously a placeholder for what would be researched values.)

ugh - I meant to include - The value of $1 you saved since last year's Super Bowl:  0.xx

The foundation could also flush the private key for 24,000 coins down a toilet too, and it would be equally as productive.

For every bitcent spent, the ad would reach about 45 people.  If we can brainstorm up a better PR distribution then I'm all for it.

advertising bitcoin is like advertising the Pound, Euro, Dollar. bitcoin itself is not ready for mass adoption of 'users', iit still needs more main-streaming from merchants. so if anything was to be advertised it would have to be the payment gateways for merchants to do transactions.

and with that there needs to be a bigger diverse method of a merchant turning a bitcoin into a Fiat to then restock their shelves. relying on bitpay alone is too centralised, there needs to be a ACTUAL service for every country. and not a dollar dominant service which then converts to foreign FIAT at high costs and delay..

the average customer see's bitcoin as 'facebook credits' but without the facebook part. yes they know they can buy credits and use those credits online to buy different things, but it is still a hassle to go through that process.

there really needs to be a big push to get FIAT into bitcoin and bitcoin into FIAT as easily as possible, with least fee's as possible before bitcoin is even worthy of having a prime time advertising spot.

There would be ALOT of newcomers coming in and being confused. I have a feeling many will invest and lose either their wallets or just get lost :/

VISA, Mastercard, and Capital One have dominated the public sphere for too long. Imagine a smart bitcoin ad that could introduce people to the idea that there's an alternative to all the bull.

A 30 second TV spot would reach 100-120 million (mostly American) viewers.  This would likely cost 24,000 BTC (3 million USD) at current exchange rates.

A competition could be held within the BTC community to vote on whichever ad they think is most worthy for the spot.  It would be good idea to get an escrow system set up so that if the donation threshold is not met, then the donations are refunded. It would be even CRAZIER if there was some kind of implementation to run a faucet that starts when the commercial airs, billing it as "the only commercial ad that pays YOU to watch it!"

If we can't get to it for this year's superbowl then I'm optimistic, it will likely be even more feasible in the years to come if Bitcoin sticks around and grows in value.

That would be awesome!  Doesn't the foundation have 1,000,000 BTC or something?  They could fund it.

Yes, at this point, bitcoin is probably not ready to be adopted by the general public. Still too complicated, especially to buy/sell.

Would be very cool!  Grin The problem is the massive cost of doing so.

Id like to see other opinions tho!
