But if their model is correct their could be a big boom in less then one decade.

For locals it might be a disaster.

Cleaning the Earth from volcanic ash is a hard work, if it goes to fill all around with deep ash - there will be no more food production.

Well this is scary while you' re reading it and if it really happened, the effects would most likely be at a global level. Though i don' t think it would happen anytime soon. As i' ve read in thw previous comments some other volcanos, yellowstone to give a good example, is already overdue for a big one and it's a lot more scarier

This a peer reviewed nature article.
The paper is legit but the scientist arent saying we will see a super volcano eruption.
There could be an eruption if their model - based on magma–hydrothermal interactions, which is still not clearly understood - is correct.

Quote
However, the temporal evolution of volcanic unrests often exhibits complex, nonlinear behaviour, such as in the case of the Yellowstone caldera, where an initial exponential/power-law acceleration of ground uplift during 2004–2008 was followed by a deceleration61 (Fig. 7). A pausing of ground uplift occurred at CFc between 1982–1984 and 2005. Caution is therefore prudent when forecasting the future mid- to short-term evolution of any period of unrest. Even if the magma underneath CFc is likely to be approaching the CDP, the possible future scenarios can be complicated by additional processes that have not been considered here. For example, increases in the melt liquidus due to H2O release and consequent magma crystallization could increase the melt viscosity, and therefore act against further magma migration. Additional careful scrutiny of monitoring data in the coming months and years is key to interpreting whether hydrothermal heating or magma quenching will prevail.

But if their model is correct their could be a big boom in less then one decade.

The last recorded eruption of Campi Flegrei was almost 500 years ago. There is no new data available to suggest that another eruption is imminent. Also Campi Flegrei eruption is not going to be as powerful as the St Helens eruption.

How many times have predicted the end of the world?

Here is study of increased factors of imminent eruption in a known site.
This is a scentific warning about geological event and about the real situation.
All the data is public.

to make a panic

Here we have a serious research with the real data of event.
I do not believe such studies. Who predicted at least one earthquake? Same thing with volcanoes. Even tsunami can't always predict. I think that is a fake. How many times have predicted the end of the world? Maybe it's a prediction the same?

As others have mentioned, "imminent" in terms of whether a volcano will erupt, might mean one year or five thousand - nobody can tell. There are volcanoes all around the world in a similar state and if there is nothing you can do about it, then what is the point in panicking. Also, with these supervolcanoes it is possible they could destroy the whole world in a suffocating cloud so don't be too happy that it'll just affect Europe.
With the same success it would be possible to make a panic about the fact that the earth gets hit by a meteorite. People can not avoid or prevent a disaster of this magnitude. Don't see the point to fear.

in a suffocating cloud

Here is about volcanic Ash, and it will cover all around.
This will a big problem for vegetation and food production.

The presence of high pressure for starting the eruption is documented now, and this dara is ufficial.

at least it stops global warming a bit eh? Probably gets all these migrants out of our countries as well. Let it blow.

LOL, and they'd be singing Let it blow, let it blow, let it blow instead of Let it snow.

Same thing when Pinatubo here erupted, lowered global temperature by a degree for an entire year. As for the migrants, that might put off others from coming in but wouldn't do anything to those already inside. Like really, why would they even want to leave Europe (unless you're a native fleeing migrants)? I believe there might be actually more trouble as they try to get food packages first before the locals. They're already quite aggressive even now, you can just imagine how they would act in a disaster.

The Yellowstone caldera super volcano is over due by several thousand years so nothing to worry about here. If she blows, she blows. .. maybe not in our lifetime or our children's lifetimes.

When the ash cloud got to France and there was some hassle but nothing serious. Thankfully we can get that kind of information a lot sooner before it erupts so people have time to evacuate.

The difference is the amount of volcanic Ash.
Here is about to cover all Europe with 1 meter of Ash.

I think just Italy will get the worst of it, any how it is not imminent

Near Naples might be a 100% zone of total disaster and possible killings by lava explosion.
But the large part of Europe until Urals might be under 1 meter of volcanic Ash.
This mean - no vegetetion, in other words - No food.

This event will have place "in short geological time".
The data is clear enough, and researcher are serious.

"in short geological time" might not be that soon tho, that doesn't mean a year or two. Usually it's a lot more.

I remember a few years, when the volcano started smoking in Iceland was it? When the ash cloud got to France and there was some hassle but nothing serious. Thankfully we can get that kind of information a lot sooner before it erupts so people have time to evacuate.

This is just happen 2 times, and the data show cleqarly about new supervolcano activity.
Impossible to predict any volcanic eruptions maybe only a few hours before it happens like earthquakes in ocean only noticing when the mega waves are heading for shores or cities, that is all makes it useless to warn populated areas because a few hours only creates chaos.
