Looking forward for that Smiley
Our new survey (part 2) is UP and running: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5448075.new#new

Everyone is invited to vote!  Smiley
We needed to have a runoff-vote because for some of our previous questions, some answers got a DRAW (equal number of votes for competing suggestions). Solution: we will have a runoff-vote to ask everyone, to vote for your favorite option.

People can select up to 4 answers.

Plz vote here: Survey regarding our Bitcoin Blockexplorer topic [Part 2]
You can also leave a comment / suggestion / advertisement for any of the options.  Cheesy

We also need to specify how long our poll will be running.
My favorite is 14 days, a good solution we applied already in our previous survey.  Smiley

Hey there 1miau! Any news about the new survey...? I just remembered about that and I said it's better to write a reminder Smiley
Hey!

I really forgot about this one and I'm very happy to have your reminder here.
Yes, we need to arrange a new survey.  Smiley

I'll ask 2 questions:

1. After our previous survey didn't saw any winner of which rating should be applied to Blockchair, we are having a runoff vote between 8/10 points (where Blockchair is ranked currently) and 9/10 points which got equal votes in our previous survey. We would like to ask all Bitcointalk members how many points Blockchair deserves to have in your opinion.  Smiley

2. After our previous survey we re-arranged our table layout completely. In our new version, specific comments are displayed via hover format, which doesn't work on mobile devices. To be consistent, we have have also archived our old version here, where comments can be seen on mobile devices as well.
Should we update the old version as well or should the old version get treated more like an archive and not get any updates?

Question!  Smiley
You decide.

But I understand your objections and it's definitely an option to keep our old table version updated as well. We can add this question to our new survey. And as we are asking the public for its opinion, we can ask 2 questions at once.  Cheesy
Okay Smiley Although, from my perspective, keeping the old thread for helping mobile users would also automatically imply having it updated whenever the new table would receive updates... I know that this means some more work to do from you (and also from me, as I also intended to keep updated the old format of the table translated in Romanian).
Your arguments are very reasonable.
I'll include it in our survey of course.  Smiley

However, if you want to not put the fate of the old table through "the Caudine forks" of a vote, I can volunteer to update both versions of the old table (English and Romanian) Smiley
Wow, an ancient FORK.
Looks like it's not only Bitcoin what suffered from a fork.  Cheesy

But are you sure about updating the old format? I believe it's better to keep it how it is since it is our "old" format, which has been frozen when we added the new design?

Ummm... Maybe I did not express well what I meant. Let me rephrase it.

So you said you will keep also the old format of the table (actually it's inside your earlier post). This is for those willing to browse from mobile phones. And I suggested the following: (1) there will certainly be changes to the new table from OP (the one which is already changed); (2) since OP will be updated in the future with various suggestions from other users, it would be wise to update also the old table -- the one you kept for users browsing from mobiles. Practically, since you (we) keep also the old table inside a post, I believe that when new sites will be added to / deleted from the new table from OP, this change should reflect also inside the old table, which you posted here. This way, users browsing from mobile phones will also be able to see all new additions to the new table from OP.

Does it make sense now? Smiley
Your comment made already sense before, dear GazetaBitcoin and my suggestion was indeed to keep it as it is and updates would only get included in our new one.
Our old table would be an historic version, frozen at that point of time, when we implemented our new layout.

But I understand your objections and it's definitely an option to keep our old table version updated as well. We can add this question to our new survey. And as we are asking the public for its opinion, we can ask 2 questions at once.  Cheesy

You are also right here. By getting a DRAW between 8 and 9 votes, it's still an unsolved secret, what to do.

As you've said, it's not a nice move from me to decide the outcome, so we will have a fair and democratic survey, once again. We need to honor our decisionmaking and be consistent.  Wink
I'm planning to start one next weekend and we can run it again for 14 days.

Well... I did not say you did a not nice move Smiley
But it would be an inconsistent move.  Cry

But it would be great to have a final debate for that website's final mark, thus the ones which voted anything else excepting 8 or 9 can choose between those two "finalist" marks!

I'll add a link below the table to a version of an old version of our table. By doing so, it'll also be possible for people viewing our table from mobile devices.  Smiley

Yup, this is a wise move. We have the old format as reference, those willing to use it can still do it (this also implies that it should be updated each time OP gets updated) and if in the future you will wish (in a democratic way Smiley) to return to old format, the old table will be available.
Of course, if there's demand to change it again, we can do so.  Smiley
But are you sure about updating the old format? I believe it's better to keep it how it is since it is our "old" format, which has been frozen when we added the new design?

I would apply a "stay" for our 8 points rating since 8 and 9 points have equal votes, so I consider it as a vote for "stay".
If my assumption is against a fair decision and people request to have a runoff vote, I can also set up a runoff vote, of course.  Smiley

Awww, you applied a democratic vote for everything, don't punish Blockchair now with a unilateral decision Smiley I guess it would be fair for this site to organize one more survey for a final decision regarding its final mark (a vote for 8 or 9). Maybe a one week survey...? Also take into consideration that such a move will also be consistent with earlier changes, meaning it will be a democratic vote Smiley

Thank you for the statistics, 1miau!

I am very glad to see we did not have contradictory final results (e.g.: having users voting to keep comments and also use "hover" format, as we anticipated it may happen) Smiley
Yes, it is nice to see. Keeping our current comment section while also adding comments in hover format wouldn't make much sense, so a lot of members avoided such a vote.

Indeed, it may impact users which will access your topic from mobile phones, yet I don't think their total number represent a significat percentage compared with all the users which will ever access the topic while browsing the forum from desktops or laptops. Besides, the ones browsing from mobiles can always come back to the topic while using a PC.

Besides, what do you have in mind regarding the final mark for Blockchair? Will you make a secondary survey, where users will be able to choose between giving it a 8 or a 9? (10 is out of question, as only I gave it a 10, lol.)

The hover format will bring an "exotic air" to your topic, as it's a SMF feature only rarely used (to be honest, excepting your topic, I think I only saw icopress using this feature). Most likely, this change will also make the topic more aesthetic. 14 days are over now and here are the results from our survey:

Result 1: Our suggestion, to change the rating from Blockchair, didn't found any majority, as 6 people voted for an 8 points rating and 6 people voted for an 9 points rating.
Result 2: Bitcointalk members want to remove comments in our current comment section, which will remove our comment section entirely (8 vs. 5 votes).
Result 3: Bitcointalk members want to have comments included in hover format, as suggested by SFR10 (7 vs. 4 votes).

A total of 13 people voted.

I'll include all changes and post an update in my main topic when it's done (which could take a while because I'm a bit busy...).
Many thanks @everyone for your votes.  Smiley

To do so, we would need to an additional column, where we could link that picture (one column for our hover feature, one column for our picure link).
You have a point, but we can also use both of them in a single column:

  • Ver.1 7 / 10 Points
  • Ver.2 7/10 [view comment]
    - I removed the word points [seems a bit redundant] and empty spaces between the numbers to reduce their width.
You are right, would be an option even if it's a little bit longer as a whole for our column.

Maybe we can just add a picture link of a screenshot from all comments (our current comments section / our current table) below and people can simply view our table on that external picture (imgur), how it is right now.
Yes, we can do this as well, but I don't think most mobile users would enjoy using a magnifier [or zoom features] to find the right comment.
Yes, it might take a while to zoom in but normally, zoom option hasn't been a problem for me personally.
We could also link a Bitcointalk post instead where all comments are still displayed (current table layout), maybe that would be easier compared to hosting external pictures?

I can add all options (add an overview picture for comments or link our current table layout in a Bitcointalk post or add a picture from each Blockexplorer comment) to our new survey if you want.

For our new survey I suggest to schedule a date in late March, I'm collecting options from suggestions currently.  Smiley

Question 1:
Rating from Blockchair Bitcoin Block Explorer 8 points
I think the current 8/10 rating for Blockchair.com is more than fair and the extra 2points remaining leaves room for improvement to get a perfect score, Btw if memopool had the multicoin support it would have been my number one..

Question 2:
Remove "comments" column from our table - NO
Think of this as our very own trust pilot with a few reasons why ABC is where it is but if the majority want this section taken down, the numbers back them its a collective decision.

Question 3:
Include comments in "hover format" - Yes
If SFR10 solution simplifies the user experience why not, let's get on with it.

Question 3
With regard to the hover box not appearing on mobile devices, we can go a step further to add an image link [to each of the ratings] that contains the comment for each of the block explorers.
To do so, we would need to an additional column, where we could link that picture (one column for our hover feature, one column for our picure link).

Blockchair offers this Privacy level for TXID's.  Block Explorers generally pick up and store a lot of information.  Is Blockchair's offered Privacy level for TXID's more Privacy intruding or can you generate the same scoring based on information picked up by any other Block Explorer?
Do you mean Blockchair's individual tx privacy score feature as posted here by Sarah Azhari and what Blockchair describes here?
I'm not a coder, so I don't know how exactly a certain Blockexplorer works and it might not make a difference because all Blockexplorers will have the same "Access" to any tx, so it doesn't matter much what's displayed there; it matters more if a certain Blockexplorer stores any data related to people visiting their site and entering tx (in general a Blockexplorer has access to any tx, no matter if it's entered or not).
It might be a good question for our Services (or better Technical Discussion board) to get a qualified answer because it's a very specific one.

Agreed with SFR10.  Thought it may be more logical to rise Blockchair score to 10 since there is no 10 out of 10 scored Block Explorer.  But now that I think about it, it makes more sense to keep it on a lower level.

There is a single thing I want to know.  This will make me decide if it deserves a 8 or a 9.  Blockchair offers this Privacy level for TXID's.  Block Explorers generally pick up and store a lot of information.  Is Blockchair's offered Privacy level for TXID's more Privacy intruding or can you generate the same scoring based on information picked up by any other Block Explorer?

Question 1
I'd keep it at 8... I do know it has a lot of useful features, but the fact that they have no issues partnering with unreputable platforms [most likely in exchange for a certain amount of money (e.g. "here's one" and it's not the only one)] makes them "unworthy" of a higher rating.

Question 2
I voted for its removal.

Question 3
With regard to the hover box not appearing on mobile devices, we can go a step further to add an image link [to each of the ratings] that contains the comment for each of the block explorers.

I was thinking that, maybe, for users to have even a more clear view about the purpose of this survey -- would it be better if we also add the pros and cons (debated in the other topic) to OP? Thus users would understand better the uses (and lack of uses) of "hover" format and, as a plus, maybe some will take a look and the table from the other topic and see how it fits their screens now...?
I have linked in my OP, at least for question 1 and question 3, who brought up the suggestion (Gazeta Bitcoin for question 1 and SFR10 for question 3) and voters can follow the link to read the discussion but question 2 was simply a result of our discussion in general.
Maybe you have an idea, which reply I could link in question 2 but I beleive when reading the 2 linked suggestions in question 1 and question 3, it should be a good explanation already.  Smiley
