Please check it, mainly the battery.
Unfortunately, my Thinkpad 701 has suffered with time. When I started it up, it reported a failed CMOS battery (not surprising after 16 years) and a memory error, and took me to the self-test ROM. This showed that everything else (including the hard disk) tested OK. I then booted and got as far as the Windows 95 splash screen before it froze up.

I will replace the CMOS battery and fix the memory problem and offer it for sale at BiddingPond, but it won't be for quite a while because I'm tied up with a lot of things right now.

Please check it, mainly the battery. Also write how much BTC would satisfy you for it. I think I'll have to send some pounds ev. euros by mail though.

It's a VGA display (640 x 480) with a 486 DX4/75 processor. It has 24MB RAM. It shipped with OS/2 and Windows 3.1 dual-boot, but has since been "upgraded" to Windows 95. I think the hard disk is about 260 MB.

I have the original box and most or all of the original accessories. It was hardly ever used - maybe 15 hours total, and was in good working order when I put it into storage. I'll need to get it out again and check that it's still OK.

I'd be shipping from the United Kingdom.

Here's a video of a 701C showing the way the keyboard slides:

I have an IBM Thinkpad 701C "Butterfly" laptop. This is the laptop with the keyboard that slides out in two parts that join together into a full-size keyboard. It boots.

It's from 1995, but it's quite unusual. Are you interested?

@Ashkelon: If you live in the US, I won't be able to buy it from you. The postage would ruin me Smiley If not, it depends on condition and attached peripherals.

I am looking for any pieces of portable vintage computing from the pre-1990 era. If you have any 286 trash with folding screens in your garages or basements, I will buy it for BTC. If the price rises above my BTC savings, I will consider mailing the rest in cash (PLN/EUR/USD). Of course I pay first, since I'm a newbie. Notice: Please don't offer any hardware in collector's condition, as I'm sure I can't afford it Cheesy  Shipping to Poland.

EDIT. Brief description of what I look for:
-80386 processor or weaker
-monochrome screen
-should rather boot
-doesn't need to have any peripherals, guidebooks etc.
-any condition from "in one piece" up
-hard disk preferred, but not necessary; eventually I might be interested in buying one separately

Hello, I have an old Mac SE (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Macintosh_SE) fully working with a half dozen games and a writing suite. How much would you offer?
