Thanks Micon. It's not one of the most important issues but I've been asked about it a few times, and it's a pretty quick fix.
I forgot that the other change I made was to make the open seats go darker when you're already sitting at the table. It makes the seats that actually have players stand out more.
Also just added a hint of red inside the box. You can do more but I think this is a good balance between easily seeing where the action is without being too distracting.
Have you tried table starting? I think a lot of the problem is that everyone has the same point of view...they log in, don't see a table running of what they want to play, and either leave or sit in the lobby waiting for someone else to table start. If you open a table and request action in the lobby, you'll def get some takers.
Agree with both posts. I've been starting tables even when I don't feel like playing just to help the site... and overall it's been pretty successful. You can go from 1 to 6 players in just a few minutes.
From my experience the players are there, but they wait until a few people get a table going before they feel comfortable sitting down.
I understand that games will grow with more platforms and the affiliate program... but I do think it would help to do something small right now.
It doesn't even have to be much - but it will encourage the guys sitting on the sidelines to sit and keep games going. Then when someone logs in and sees games already running they're a lot more likely to stay.
I think even doing a one week promotion of 1.5x to 2x bonus krill would give it a kickstart.
If that's not easily adjustable with the software yet, there are other options that should work that are cheap/free.
