I love the extender idea, and then save the other controller as a spare would be awesome!!! Maybe some longer ribbon cables too so we can place the controller somewhere safe Smiley

It sure would be great if Glen could do something like this with the firmware...but if it was that easy ..I'd imagine someone would have done such by now....

I already have 6 to a controller....I'd do this ..just to set the other controller aside as a spare (now that in 3 days my Titan(s) will be past the 1yr warranty) 8 on one would be cool!

Not saying they will 'turn on me' (yeah right ..quicker then a zombie pet on the 'walking dead' imho)

But would sure be pretty slick if it was do'able (and as long as I'm wishing ...someone found they 'accidentally' archived all the knc forums with the tech info lost...
have looked at the 'wayback machine' site..only goes a couple levels like to board titles then zip empty...sigh)

edit: saw previous posts my 'daydream' was for 'this to also work with Titans just to be clear. (Hey btc is all unicorns/rainbows and fairy dust...so wtf...my daydream may be possible) Smiley

"autotune" continues to edge toward a testing release =) .... weeee!
Oh, also in the next release will be "DCDC overcurrent protection"
If any DCDC's are running over 46A, it will issue a hard reset to that cube first time, 2nd time if its still over 46A ... it will clock down that die to 200mhz to alleviate load on the DCDC.

Reason is, I ran into a weird behaviour w/ one of my cubes this weekend, noticed one of the DCDC's had dropped and the other DCDC for a die was taking FULL LOAD for that single die! It was pumping out 50A(horribly so I must say, it was in throttle mode) ... the affected die was at like 40% HW error rate because half of the poor die was effectively not working cuz not enough power to feed it.

This is a dangerous situation for the DCDC's .. so I coded up the above protection =)
its
God damn, these things are literally RANDOM AS HELL! LOL!

Yeah...it is better off I don't know what the hell is going on with my 2 Titans.....it would probably scare the hell out of me...I find if you don't make direct eye contact in any manner they won't spook...but mine take an hour just to get all the cubes and dies back on any reset in power or reset in firmware...this of course is not counting the times they try to obtain the 'sweet release of oblivion' and try to brick themselves for no discernible reason that I can tell (reboot and play an hour to get all back up and going again) I swear it is like an ASIC version of a Hamster wheel......(then again look at how they were built ..the Titans and Neptunes....a frigging 8th grade raspberry pi science fair project...with the original 3 month warranty ...I should pray to the ASIC gods each night...they still run in some manner...it will be 1 year since they shipped (orig one and used one both Nov units...the orig unit I got on Nov 6th 2014..months late with sh*tty firmware for 2 months at the start....its a frigging 'miner' miracle..the lcd lights still work Smiley

But no really ..how/why/what/how long/when etc these Titans do what they do is a mystery and guite frankly scare the piss out of me ..again refrain from direct eye contact in my basement when doing laundry.....or god forbid 'touching them' in a reboot (shudder .the horror...the panic...the fear) I exaggerator (er not really) Sad

Tarkins Titans are upset because he removed any chance of personal contact by institutionalizing them, ie putting them in a data center ... they're mad

Haven't seen that one yet, hope I never do

So did it recover? Did it need a hard reset? or Cold restart?

Issuing a hard reset to the cube brought the DCDC back =)
Hence thats why I coded up a hard reset first, followed by underclocking the die if needed.

Well this is SOMEWHAT (ducks) off topic but I just found this on www.litecointalk.org that Alcheminer has announced TWO new asic scrypt miners.

One is 128mh ($1,299) and the other is 512mh ($4,950) and SIX MONTHS for the first batch LOL Smiley

So unless LTC goes to the moon I can't see it Smiley

Anyway have a thread on this and a poll feel free to chime in ..just new home asic miners being announced is as rare as a 'unicorn sighting' so I figured
some folks on here may want to know..if for no other reason then to 'watch the drama' me at those prices and that timeline of 6 months I sure am not
 going for these units myself

here is the link to the other thread on this

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/alcheminer-ii-supposedly-is-coming-out-so-this-blurp-says-128mh-1299-280-watt-1234027

enjoy the drama Smiley

Again others can chime on here on this as well.

edit: re-read the above ...the above alcheminer II plug do they really expect these prices and those speeds to HOLD six months from now? Sure hope LTC booms in price and that alcheminer guy is correct but again imho for home miners this is way, way too long to ship a product at those speeds and those prices imho.

edited the edit above: clarify whom

LOL, nice picture

Tesla & Isaac Newton are probably 2 of the top 5 smartest people that ever lived, (no idea who the other 3 were)
What did they have in common? both very religious and both life long bachelors.
Tesla was on a religious fast in the wilderness reading the bible when he conceived the AC motor that eventually started his career and along with numerous other patents & inventions jumpstarted the modern industrial revolution. The DOD is still trying to figure out things he understood over 100 years ago.
There's a self autobiography of tesla and his early life floating around that's hard to find, but real interesting.

So late to the game everyone - I was powering kfc equipment with a tesla coil AGES ago  Grin Also a look back at the Frankenjup feels relevant at Halloween  Smiley

I've conducted further tests and can now verify that a knc Frankenjup can be powered by a 5 foot tesla coil, (rather than the 13 foot tesla coil I suggested yesterday, that the mods accidentally deleted).

It hashes quite nicely at 3.2TH with mild overclocking, although the smell of ozone and nitrogen oxides means it can only be set up in a building with open ventilation, such as a garage, out-house or abandoned church ruins.

If you need to bring it indoors, then 6x650w Corsair psu's would certainly be a good choice cost-wise, as you'll need 3x 6pin connectors for each of Frankenjups 6 "limbs", i.e. of dead villagers 3x jupiter boards.

If anyone needs any more help or technical advice on this, please feel free to ask. Having had a number of jupiter boards with die0 issues, I have a good deal of experience reanimating the dead.

A*

My delivery and approach is terrible, i know. But so are my English skills and thats somewhere i will always lack. It's just not my area. I personally think all languages derived from Latin are poison. Arabic and Chineese can BOTH express feelings and emotions within their languages (traditional) yet not Latin(VATICAN) derived language can! But thats another subject all together Smiley

I talk straight and am not a bullshitter so i don't beat around the bush. I don't 'tip toe' for anyone & people are so used to people being useless sacks of shit without opinion! I also could have been a millionaire several times but i choice to give it away. I suppose i have a little connection to tesla there when it comes to 'finances' Smiley

I agree whole heartily with your comments and with Tesla, Same as all of us, we have good and evil within us all, it's just how we choice to use it. Of cause no ones perfect, and he did make it easy for Edison and co to rip him to the ground (and burn his lab down) but surely you can't blame that on his short comings of trying to help everyone without any financial gain. Were just so used to the idea of 'money' that we forgot what it's like without it, Helping each other for each others sake! There was a time long long ago you know and personally, I believe there was a time when we had all the technology we have today in the past too. All the pyramids in most countries around the world is no accident! There EVERYWHERE lol.

I won't continue in this thread, But your the second person to pick me up on that this week and was recommended meditation to calm the mind. Definitely something i will do has i have a good friend who is a teacher and also of Thai Chi & i think it's time isn't it Smiley

Peace my friend Wink

(I nominate TXSteve (Titan) and Telsaman..(Neptune)...  all those in favor...carries....hop right on that will you my good fellows..thanks ) Smiley

I'm a bit late responding on this, I had to search around the thread first, but tolip_wen actually did some rather extensive water cooling mods on the Neptune. Smiley One example: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.8528187 Edit: Whoops, wrong link, that was the Jupiter....fixed.

You just had to invoke Tesla, didn't you? Tongue While you have mentioned some things that people really should research before labeling with the tired and now powerless "Conspiracy Theory" label, you were also extremely offensive and aren't helping anyone with your approach. That was all also very off topic. I would suggest starting your own topic in the correct section, linking it in your signature, then only mentioning to go visit it in your posts. That way you won't end up getting your posts deleted when mods decide to prune the off topic posts. Wink

I won't debate these things any further on this thread, but...

As for Tesla, just fyi, I've used a variation of "Teslaman" since 1999/2000. Yes, he was an amazing, brilliant man, but he also wasn't perfect. I share his lack of caring for money, but unlike him, I don't ignore it. He was horrible with managing money and ultimately, that is why he met such as sad fate. Greedy people screwed him over for sure, as you mentioned, but he also had a hand in sabotaging himself. He also supported Eugenics. No one is perfect. Just because someone uses money and knows when to grab onto a good thing, doesn't make them greedy. No one who knows me would ever call me greedy, so there is just one place where you offended someone who would otherwise agree with you. Try not to pass such blanket judgments.

As for Anarchy, I'm an anarchist at heart, but I also know that it can never work on society as a whole. There is a minority of us who could easily make it work, but the majority of people need the rules, laws and at least a limited, small government, because they are not like us and no measure of education will make them so. Sadly, most anarchists will never realize this.

Which brings me to my last point. The reality is, as much as we may hate it, Bitcoin would never get anywhere in this world without the money side of it. This is not Star Trek, this world is ruled by greed and currency. To ignore this fact, is to ensure failure. Take advantage of a corrupt system that would otherwise take advantage of you. Instead of smelling the, purposefully addictive, scented green like many people will do, we can actually use that money to promote better things, or get ourselves prepared and self-sufficient. I'm sorry to say, in a truly free world, greed will always persist, along with every other vice, and a world like Star Trek will never happen. Something like Avatar is more realistic, where the minority of us have to keep a check on the majority. We are the anti-elite, also small in number, but just as influential.

Now back to your regularly scheduled programming. Tongue
