It’s been an extremely productive month following the release of the Syscoin 2.1 public beta [1]. We’ve been added to the Coinomi wallet which gives Android users the ability to send, receive and hold Syscoin on their Android mobile devices, Syscoin has been added to Brave New Coin’s services, Livecoin exchange and we’ve also received confirmation that Syscoin will be added to Bittylicious, a UK based fiat gateway and exchange, in the near future.

Development has been speeding along as well. With the help of the community we’ve been able to identify and fix bugs and implement changes that improve the overall Syscoin user experience. We’ve identified two more features; an in-wallet wanted section and currency editing. These will add further value to the Syscoin platform and will take a few days to finalize. While they are being worked on we wanted to share the latest improvements by releasing the a new Syscoin 2.1 public beta 2. Beta 2 includes the major fixes and user experience updates that we’ve completed so far. We want to release to mainnet as soon as is reasonably possible, targeting the first week of August timeframe. Progress on our Blockmarket initiative has been moving along extremely well, we’ll have a more detailed updates on that in a separate post.

To use the latest beta you will need to delete any/all existing beta files – including the app/exe and the Syscoin testnet data directory; Syscoin.conf remains the same as with the first beta. If you discover issues we want to hear about them and you can submit them either via slack #bugs channel or our Github issues page. We’re excited to be one step closer to releasing 2.1 to mainnet with all its huge new features and look forward to sharing what we’ve been working with Blockmarket very soon!

Download the Syscoin 2.1 beta 2 using the links below. You’ll need to use this syscoin.conf, which will only connect to testnet. If you have an existing syscoin.conf from beta 2 there is no need to change it, if not please back it up prior to participating in the beta.

You must delete any/all pre-existing Syscoin 2.1 beta 1 testnet data (the testnet3 folder entirely) before you can run/use Syscoin 2.1 beta 2 properly.

When did you first start to try to mine using p2pool and 35Th of hash? Around time are we looking at? based on https://github.com/syscoin/syscoin2/issues/81 if that is you since you seem to be the only one who had issues with NMC/SYS merge mining with p2pool we can see that it was around the 25th of May is this correct? So to be generous say since the second week of May you were trying to solve a Sys block?

I started mining sys as soon as merged mining was announced. Same problem as that github link, but it's not me - so I'm not the only one having problems with it - which was kind of reassuring actually, in a strange way  Tongue  Am I correct thinking that because syscoin is based on NMC it has inherited the same issues?

Well f2pool was mining at the start too... at about block 700 which was the second day of launch the difficulty was already so high.. so we still can't be sure that its not a difficulty issue and that you simply did not throw enough has at it because f2pool is too big.
If there is an actual problem yea doge and nmc would have it too but I don't think you'd get any blocks on nmc for the same reason because its also very high difficulty... the other coins you mined.. what kind of difficulty are they? (I assume the difficulty is sufficiently lower)

Issue is https://github.com/syscoin/syscoin2/issues/81

Maybe you can help with the research part and it can get fixed

Yeah, that's the problem I'm having too. I'll have a look & see what code base my other merge mined coins are using.

Edit: The only merge mined coin wallets I have that are using 0.12 code base are NMC & SYS, although I stopped merge mining NMC a while ago due to both a problem with their code & merge mining:

https://forum.namecoin.info/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=2371&start=10
https://forum.namecoin.org/viewtopic.php?p=16153

+ the super high diff. I'm unsure if it's been fixed yet. I'm afraid I don't know much about coding....I just mine it  Tongue

Edit2: The _target issue was apparently fixed a while ago with p2pool:

https://github.com/p2pool/p2pool/commit/a6f3f9259a5ea4975e961946b7ad7fe941ac76be

...coins pandering up to the biggest Chinese pools.....causes problems all round... Roll Eyes
What kind of hash you throwing at it? The merge mined pools are big so it will be tough to crack a block unless your on a merged pool since btc difficulty is high. After the target thing it should work aslong as you throw enough hash at it.

Hash rate varies between 15Th & 50Th - depending on rental prices at the time, & I've never had a payment from syscoin, while all the other merge mined coins are fine & pay accordingly.

The biggest pool you are competing with currently is F2Pool which currently has approx 335499 TH, this would certainly explain why you are not getting any blocks ATM.

It's so much a case of "ATM" - I've never found a block merge mining SYS, even before FUpool started killing it.....

New version 2.1 coming, new chinese dev,
As I have said 6000 sats is a fair price for SYS. I am sure we will see this in the next 3-4 months.

you

Very undervalued now, I'm buying at this price level, in long term we will go over 5k. Dev team is doing really a great work!!
Price start moving last days!

We release our.notes on here and slack for that reason.

Merge mining not working(it is mining merged blocks as we speak)? The p2pool issue you mean?

Btw on that issue i have asked for more info and the user having the issue has not replied. I think older coins on older code work but newer ones dont as its p2pool may be considered obsolete

Its coming out soon, new chinese dev/manager will ramp up the things hard
Chinese will notice syscoin, and who knows if SYS will be added to a Big Chinese Exchange.
Buy orders, price and support is growing fast....and the price might skyrocket to 2000 sats soon

Yes, that sounds good. I think the updates must be limited to Slack? As I'm not seeing much activity on twitter and over here.

I don't think it's smart business to "limit" updates to anything. Updates should be considered a form of advertising as well and should be posted anywhere you wan't to attract attention, within reason of course. Limiting anything to Slack other than highly technical discussion, does the project a disservice.
