Depends on merit. At least compared to the other South African batsmen, Temba Bavuma has underperformed at international level. On top of that, he is more suitable for the test format. Dean Elgar's case is similar to Steve Smith of Australia. He is also not suitable for T20 format. On the other hand, Sisanda Magala went for a massive amount of ZAR 5.4 million. Lungi Ngidi was sold for ZAR 3.4 million. So race played hardly any part in this auction. It needs to be seen though, whether the South African Board will force quotas for the franchise league in the long term.

ICC events when going to be played in Australia surely have great impact on this game and fans with this now this time we are going to have very good competition in this event with many teams are doing good and having enough quality for going through in last fours even right now predictions are not easy because recently forms are changing, and few teams are suffering badly with injuries and other related things as well.
