Malaysia   VS  Papua New Guinea

A T20 match between Papua New Guinea and Malaysia was played today. Batting first, Malaysia scored 196 runs for the loss of 6 wickets. I thought Malaysia might win easily. But to my surprise, Papua New Guinea won the match by scoring 199 runs in just 17.5 overs. They have lost only two wickets. Assad Vala was unbeaten on 74 off 51 balls and Tony Ura was unbeaten on 86 off 34 balls. Interestingly, Tony Ura hit 10 over boundaries.

Malaysia scored 196 runs due to superb knock by Zubaidi Zulkifle, Ahmad Faiz and Syed Aziz. Win was very much on cards for Malaysia but PNG Assad Vala and Tony Ura were too good to handle Malaysia bowling. PNG achieved the target with 13 balls to spare.

Perhaps this is an indication that there is not enough talent available in India for a 10-team competition? I had mentioned this many months ago. The BCCI should seriously consider raising the threshold of foreign players in the XI from 4 to 5, and that in the squad from 8 to 10. Yesterday, for both the teams the disadvantage came from young local players (Mukesh Choudhary, Tushar Deshpande.etc). If the BCCI want to maintain the quality, then they should allow one more overseas player in the XI.
I agree with you. Since now the number of teams has increased. So it is very difficult to find the necessary talented domestic players. If the number of teams was less then maybe there would not be so many problems. Moreover, local players are not experienced enough for platforms like IPL. Increasing the number of foreign players could be a good solution. Let's see what BCCI decides next season.

I could not agree more. Preference should be given to domestic players in IPL. If BCCI does not do this, it will be difficult to find the necessary talented players for the future Indian national team.
I know Indian domestic leagues are enough quality. But in the IPL, the domestic players get the opportunity to play in the same squad with the experienced foreign players, as a result of which the domestic players also become experienced. BCCI is giving priority to domestic players for the good future of their national team.

There is bracket of foreign players in every league. Teams are increased to 10 so it will be a matter of one or more IPL before we have quality domestic players that can perform good in the league. BCCI doesn't allow its players to take part in other leagues if domestic players quota is reduced in IPL then bcci must lift that ban.

I think it's not about quality, as we know that IPL is money rich league and BCCI doesn't wanna lose all the money slipping away to foreign players. That's why they are giving more preference to local domestic players over foreign players and its a good approach. That's why useless players like ishan who has merely played for India is most expensive player of IPL 2022.

Chennai's management has failed to form a stable team. The team has a lot of experienced batsmen. As a result, Chennai easily collected 210 runs today. But still they have lost badly. Expected more responsible gameplay from them. They have tried 7 bowlers but none of them have been successful. Jadeja is not yet experienced enough as a captain.
It was a flat pitch and the batsman rose against the challenge and Lucknow Super Giants was in great form with the bat as i did not expect this result as Lucknow Super Giants is a new team and they are coming off a loss and Chennai Super Kings does have an experienced team and yet they are not able to defend the total with the experience they have and even though Jadeja is the captain i am sure MSD controls the team.

CSK  vs  LSG

What an outstanding performance by Evin Lewis! I would say that Lucknow has been able to win this match only because of his great batting. Lewis collected 55 runs from just 23 balls. His strike rate was 239.13. Moreover, Lucknow's innings started well. Rahul and De Kock's performance was good. Chennai has lost this match only because of inexperienced bowlers. They have used 7 bowlers in this match. But no bowler was able to bowl as well as expected.
Lack of bowlers is the core reason for the loss. Another incident that turned the match is the easy catch drop of Quinton De Cock by Moen Ali. If that was caught Lucknow Super Giants would've struggled atleast a little to create a good opening partnership. Anyhow Lucknow is quite confident with their bowling and batting, that is reason why they took bowling even after winning the toss.

Both the teams were disappointing yesterday. If not for important knocks from Sherfane Rutherford and Shahbaz Ahmed towards the end, Royal Challengers Bangalore would have lost the match yesterday. Their top order failed (including Virat Kohli). For the KKR, three of the bowlers performed well - Umesh Yadav, Tim Southee and Sunil Narine. These three bowled a total of 12 overs between them, and conceded just 48 runs (picked up 6 wickets as well). But the other bowlers couldn't sustain the momentum, especially Andre Russell and Varun Chakravarthy.
King Kohli is in no mood of scoring runs whether it's international cricket or IPL. I strongly believe that sometimes giving  yourself a break really helps in regaining form. Its a good match for Wanindu Hasaranga de Silva as he manage to get 4 wickets. A low scoring match but it was definitely not one sided.
Chennai have given a huge target of 211 runs with the help of the devastating batting of Chennai batsmen. Robin Uthappa made 50 off just 27 balls. And Dube was dismissed for 49 off 30 balls. Moreover, the batting of Moin Ali and Raydu is enough good. Chennai is in the safe zone after gave the target of 211 runs. And they will probably win very easily. My guess is that Chennai will win by at least 30 runs.
Your guess may not be correct. Collection of LSG in 12 overs 114. They lost only 2 wickets. Rahul was dismissed for 40 off 26 balls. de Kock is unbeaten on 53 off 36 balls. If de Kock is at the crease, the chances of LSG winning will increase. LSG needs 97 runs from 48 balls to win. At the moment LSG seems more likely to win. However, if Chennai can pick up two wickets quickly, the match will be under Chennai's control.

LSG needed only 34 runs from 12 balls to win. Will they be able to do it? At the crease is Evin Lewis who is batting tremendously. And if he gets a chance to play 10 balls then maybe LSG can win. Yet the chances of both teams winning are equal. The performance of Chennai bowlers was very poor. And with a weak bowling lineup, they will not be able to stay on the table. Let's see what will happen in this match.

The wicket was helping the bowlers and it was a great game of Cricket as the match went till the last over even though RCB was chasing a really low total and at one point i thought Kolkata Knight Riders could pull off the victory when Tim Southee picked some crucial wickets. Looks like Andre Russell is injured and if so it is a big loss for KKR in this tournament as he is an integral part of KKR.

Why should batsmen have all the fun or let's say Smash The Batriarchy.  Grin

Bowlers are consider labour class in the cricket and everyone expect them to get smashed day and night. So give some credit to bowlers for producing low scoring match.

Not sure what's happening with the Andre Russell. He's not looking at his best when bowling, may be not fit to ball anymore?

The target was very low. RCB should have won easily by batting for only 128 runs. But their performance was very poor. David Willy scored only 18 runs off 28 balls. Rutherford made 28 off 40 balls. The players had to be more professional. If they perform in this way, they will not be able to qualify for the top 4 teams in the points table. Batsmen should bat more responsibly.

Even though Kolkata gave a target of only 129 runs today, it was very difficult for RCB to win the match despite batting for such a low target.

Bangalore lost 7 wickets. Scored 132 runs in 19.2 overs and won. The Kolkata team is very stable. They are good at both the bowling and batting side. They may have lost today due to poor batting, but I think we will see better gameplay from them in upcomming matches.
