Here are the men through to the semi-finals:

Djokovic
Hurkacz
Shapovalov
Berrettini

What a Wimbledon this has turned out to be  Shocked

Just sad to see Federer lost against Hurkacz in this fashion, 0-6 score in the last set? And it was a straight set lost, he was leading in the second set and then suddenly he wasn't able to score and he played poorly. No injuries whatsoever, maybe father time has really caught on Federer and it's evident on this match. And probably this is Roger Federer's last match in Wimbledon.

So it will be Djokovic vs Shapovalov and then Berrettini vs Hurkacz. Djokovic stock for winning this tournanament is very high.

Congratulations to the following for making it to the Women Semi-Final: Sabalenka, Pliskova, Kerber and Barty

Semi-Final 1: Sabalenka vs Pliskova
Semi-Final 2: Kerber vs Barty

I've got three bets that I placed prior to the tournament commencing:

I'm going to be a little upset if Kerber wins given I hadn't placed a wager on her winning.  Good luck to all four players (including Kerber).  Not long now until they play.
I can see any of them winning it.

Sabalenka is playing great...
Pliskova finally makes it to a Wimbledon semi-final
Kerber is the only previous Wimbledon women winner remaining
Barty is playing great...

You have a 75% chance of pocketing some returns and considering you selected these options before the tournament started means you chose fantastically well  Grin

^^ Good outright bets there @Timelord2067 in the women's side.

For the men's side, surprising to see Federer into the quarterfinals. Still a lot of games to go, but him winning against Hurkacz will be huge. But still the favourite to win is Djokovic who will be facing giant killer Fucsovics. It will be a dream match to see Federer vs Djokovic in the finals this year. It might be Federer's last hurrah.
I think coming back from injury after so many months out of the game, Federer did very well to get this far. No reason why cannot get to the semi-finals because his opponent Hurkacz will be in this position for the first time.

Headlines from today are that Federer almost flawlessly goes through to his 18th Wimbledon semi-final. Raducanu was a set and 3-0 down before she retired allowing Tomljanovic to go through to meet Barty in an all Australian quarter-final tomorrow.
For some reason, a lot of players retire after they are down a set and some games. I remember watching Tomic play a few years back and the guy was almost tanking matches and he would just play to qualify for the tournament and even admitted publicly that he finds no motivation and his bank account is in good shape just by playing and qualifying for grand slams.

I was able to find the article too: https://www.tennis.com/news/articles/bernard-tomic-can-t-find-any-motivation-at-wimbledon

Anyways, talking about this year's winners, I am sure Djokovic has got this one pretty easily because Federer hasn't looked that good to me.

Barty looks like a real contender or Wimbledon champion in the making, she brushed aside French Open champion Barbora Krejcikova with relative ease. She has to be the favourite to win the tournament and is rightfully seeded number one.

Tomljanovic reaches her first quarter-final of a grand slam after so many attempts at the age of 28 but her run will probably end when she faces Barty. It is good for Australian tennis though when they can guarantee a semi-finalist at a grand slam before the quarter-final has even taken place.

I was fairly confident Kerber was going to get past Gauff because she has far too much experience.

Australian media are gushing that the quarter final of the 2021 Wimbledon Women's Final is an All Australian affair.

Earlier today Jabeur defeated Swiatek so she will meet Sabalenka in their quarter-final. British wildcard Raducanu will meet Tomljanovic later on Court One to decide who goes through to the quarter-finals. Barty just won her match against Krejcikova 7-5 6-3 and I think she will at worst be a losing semi-finalist or runner-up and at best I am sure she can win the tournament.

I really thought Cori Guff would have won her match against Kerber:  (Not that long ago she paired with Ash Barty in a Women's Doubles' competition - which they won!)

From the men Djokovic and Khachanov also go through to the quarter-finals, as does ex-champion Kerber from the women. It is shaping up to be a great Wimbledon 2021  Grin

Why are there some players that have a number in them while the other don't? Just a curious question, really interested with Wimbledon even though tennis is far from popular in my country. Also, why are some of the famous players aren't participating in this tournament?
From what I know, it's the seeding of a tournament and might not always represent the rank of a player. Seeding can be a little confusing to understand but you may think like this - any tournament wants the best players to face each other at the end of the tournament so they create seeding to separate the top players. You may read more about seeding here - https://tennispredict.com/how-does-seeding-work-in-tennis/

I was so excited to see Federer being tested by Norrie, although I have missed the whole Wimbledon because of odd timings in my country, I have watched a few games and that Norrie game was so good, the crowd behind the lower-ranked local player while Federer losing his cool in the 3rd set but managed to see off the young opponent in the next set.

Special thanks to Jolly for a dedicated thread on Wimbledon, I feel it is much needed for all major tournaments. I hope we can have one for e-sports because DOTA TI is up soon (July 7th-8th I guess)

Game between  Felix Auger-Aliassime and Alexander Zverev is on on court 1 and so far Aliassime the young Canadian has an advantage over Zverev who seems to be struggling a bit.

Should the Germany (Zverev) be allowed back into this game, those big saves he has in his arsenal should win him the game but Felix is not not be brushed off just yet because I like how his playing and his kept the pressure on Zverev.

I mean no disrespect as I'm sure you already know, but the 2021 Wimbledon season has been underway for more than two weeks with pre-entry games then the first couple of rounds having already been played.

FWIW I feel Ash Barty might just win her first Wimbledon ahead of her joining the rest of the Australian 2020/1 Olympic Team in Tokyo in the next few days.

The overarching tennis thread is overarching, this thread is more specific and considering it was created a few hours ago it seems to have had the desired effect by attracting enough attention from tennis fans. In my opinion no single overarching thread should have a monopoly but I know some will disgaree.

Why exactly is this a self moderated thread in the gaming section?
Thank you for your comments.

From previous experiences I am fairly confident I know which threads to create as self-moderated and which I should not. All my sports threads are created to encourage participation and to have discussions.

self-moderated to keep this thread clean from trolls, attention-seekers and signature spammers

The fact that Wimbledon is in its second week for 2021, added to the fact that there is an overarching Tennis thread (not to mention that this is a self moderated thread - which goes against my core beliefs of enabling a fair discussion to be able to take place) means that I regret to say I won't be making further posts in this comment, but will nevertheless read along (as long as this post doesn't get deleted that is).

Was about to ask the same thing but it seems that someone's already did the question. I have another question though, how do they determine the rank of the players though, is it like some kind of match making ranking where they have to win to increase their rank like the one that they use in chess?
Well as far as I know, every player who entered a tournament will have some kind of points. So obviously if you won a masters 250, 500 or 1000 you earn a points if you place at least in QF. Grand Slams like Wimbledon accured higher points. So it's a whole year tournament, so players accumulated points overtime and the one with the highest will be on top.
So it really is like how they rank in chess, that's pretty good that I don't have to learn something new because it's the same for tennis. Will their be some sort of reset every year though or is the points permanent? If you don't play though, will the rank decay?

Those are players rank, so if you see, (1) Novak Djokovic is currently rank number 1 in this tournament and is the current number 1 player in tennis.

For this year's Wimbledon, I will go with Djokovic, I haven't check the bracket, but Rublev and Medvedev could be a good contender. Federer has lost so much of his speed. Maybe he can win against Sonego next, but it will be a tough match next.

Only bright side for Britain in in the ladies side, 18 year old Emma Raducanu.

Seems no England player, fans are quite disappointed even they are playing at home.

Also, why are some of the famous players aren't participating in this tournament?

the tournament going to 16 rounds, I also don't follow since the first time, I guess they are fall in the elimination round or covid-19 (the last one is Konta)

Although the sentimental favourite here is Federer, but I doubt that he can reach the semis.

maybe he is not fit properly because is injured for almost 2 year
