Well, Laszlo actually did come back after a few years and explained his actions. He did not do this to make a big gesture or to make a political statement.. he basically had a small daughter that was crazy about Pizza.... and he wanted to buy the 2 x Pizzas with his bitcoins to see if it can be done, because he wanted to see his daughter rubbing it all over her face.

He never even considered that the price of a Bitcoin will go up to $60 000 per coin. Roll Eyes

He thought it was the latest craze and that it will blow over in a few months.

He still says that he does not regret anything that he did and that he got a lot more out of that, than the money it is worth now. (How do you buy the title of being a legend in millions of people's eyes and even a day dedicated to your actions)

I don't know why you guys are twisting my words. I never said that Laszlo sold his all Bitcoins. Some people on social media look so upset when they think someone bought two pizzas for 10000 Bitcoins. But, The Legend never regrets it. So, Why do some people feel so upset? That was an incredible milestone for Bitcoin. Now it's Bitcoin Pizza day.

Lets just set aside those money earning opportunity or investment issues and stick out on how Laszlo do able to create that kind of awareness that bitcoin could really be used
into those kind of transactions.

That is because you're comparing the value today and the past value of bitcoin. Before it was not worth that much but the action he did for starting the value of it as a medium of exchange meant a lot to us. Do not feel upset but be grateful that Laszlo started it all.

Truly a legend and one of the greatest pieces of bitcoin history.

more, it was so easy back then. They were different times.

Yes, Laszlo never sell all his Bitcoin holding but the above user never said Laszlo sold all his holding either.

He only stopped buying pizza with Bitcoin when the mining reward are not like before because after he bought some pizza with Bitcoin the crypto market experienced huge traffic, and everything dramatically changed. Besides, theymos also didn't expect the change to happen suddenly.

I don't know why people think it was some kind of sacrifice or that Laszlo made a mistake by paying for 2 pizzas as much as 10 000 BTC? It should be noted that this was a completely different time when anyone could mine BTC with their computer and when very few people believed that Bitcoin could succeed. 50 BTC per block was a very generous reward, and I guess it wasn't extremely difficult to mine 10 000 BTC.

This is without a doubt a historical event, but even if it had not happened then and in such a way, I guess Bitcoin would not have ceased to exist. Someone could also buy a few beers or burgers, and then we would celebrate Beer Day or Hamburger Day today.

That's cool, its like keeping Laszlo's legacy.

Would like to track those coins too probably buy some of those coins just for it to be in my wallet to one day buy pizza. It would be cool to buy pizzas with some of those coins again for probably 0.002BTC and then add the blockchain analysis. People in the next generation will probably look up to you spending 0.002BTC for 2 pizza also while by that time 0.002 will be worth a lot.

This is what we should be doing in regards to Laszlo, thanking him for his massive contribution to bitcoin and the bitcoin network instead of making fun of him spending hundreds of millions on pizza. What I think most people don’t realize is he actually held multiple trades for bitcoin and pizza, in total he shared that he had spent somewhere around 35,000 bitcoins on pizza deals. I am also expressing my gratitude here to Laszlo Hanyecz for starting the ball rolling for Bitcoin. It is just right that he is given the honor for doing something which started it all. To commemorate his famous Bitcoin pizza purchase every year is the least that the Bitcoin community could give to the man and his action. He will forever be remembered and honored. His purchase will forever be etched on the history of Bitcoin.

But one thing I don't think he did was sacrifice. He did the buying with complete freedom and fun. He wasn't sacrificing anything. It is only in hindsight that people cried over spilled milk.
