I think there needs to be a better commandment in there concerning trust.  There are so many scam sites out there and scam users out there always trying to get something for free.  So for all of you new to this forum and read this, you need to be careful of everyone and read their trust and past posts in order to see who you are dealing with.

is something like TOR worth using?? Like I don't need to go private often but is incognito private enough? It's fine for buying stuff in secret i think

i would use something like tunnelbear or surfeasy, which is free and they give you 1giga per month, i think that tor is not really anonymous, and it is spied in some way

I don't think you should need tor to tell the truth.  If it's some "in secret" one would assume it's illegal or you don't want people to know you ordering X item.  So... I would stay away from it.

Also the problem is eventually X item needs to make it to you.  So at sometime there is something attached to you to get the item.  So yes BTC if  never used can be anonymous but once used for something I think it loses a lot of that part of being anonymous.

depends on what you're planning to do  Wink but for a little anonymous browsing TOR should be sufficient.

Let me say that there are to many people on here that use common passwords.  I am not talking passwords that are commonly known to everyone, it is a common password that is known to you.  To many people use the same passwrod for everything and all you have to do is get that one password and you can get into their whole life.

I've wrote a few new blog posts, but forgot to update this thread, sorry for that:

One of the lataest posts covers the potential of Monero for the darknet and darknetmarkets:

Why Monero is the future for DNMs

The intentions of this thread are admirable, however I would suggest that you elaborate on each "commandment" extensively whenever you have the opportunity to do so.

Most people are not sure what you mean in-depth by each commandment and beginner's could use some tips/how-to!

Thou shall never visit russian porn sites with many popups while having electrum wallet open. I almost got hacked by trojan viruses, luckily I moved the my funds faster to safety than the hacker.

How does one know for certain your coins has became vulnerable to a trojan that can specifically hijack your priv key from a specific wallet? Because if a program would of had access to your privkey, it would itself instantly send a transaction to a preconfigured node asking all your funds to be moved.

Its not an actual hacker that does the work. You just code a trojan and wait for funds to arrive while you work on infecting more people.

Not really because it looked like a remote control trojan. There are automatic built ones, but those are dumb and have no way of detecting bitcoin.

However a remote hacker can just enter my pc and copy the wallet to himself and then wait until i write in the pw and log that.

I moved immediately the funds to a safe place, and yes this was a bad experience, but it happened months ago.

The first thing a Bitcoin newbie needs to be aware of is if someone else gets their hands on their private keys then there's no going back. Caution will spring from there.

Knowing the commandments is a great first step, but not unless one learns how to follow them.

Share what you know!
Agree, problem is people don't care about their privacy at all yet. Sharing everything on facebook is disease of our times :/

Greetings earthlings - it's been a while  Smiley

but since it's sunday I've found enough spare time to get back to editing.

This week's blog post is about anonymous domain registration and hosting

The service providers presented in my personal Top 3 are of course bitcoin accepting and are known to respect the user's privacy.

Have fun reading and leave a comment if you're missing some information or service.

This seems like really good advice, if you can afford two PCs and if you can have the discipline to not use both for internet access. Of course the size of ones balance will influence how much they need to adhere to these commandments.

You can use both for internet, but only 1 for casual stuff, there you download stuff.

And the other with maximum caution and good antivirus + firewall to not download ever any virus.

To help beginners and newbies navigate safely through the dangerous shallows of the internet,
I've tried to compile a list covering the most important points and steps to improve your online privacy and security setup:

The 10 Commandments Of Internet Security & Online Privacy

Thou shalt always be aware that there are myriads of dangers to your privacy & security
Thou shalt protect your identity & privacy online at all times
Thou shalt use secure and strong passwords & don’t reuse them
Thou shalt use crypto currencies like bitcoin & monero for payments
Thou shalt mask your IP using a VPN or proxy service
Thou shalt use safe communication tools for email, messaging and VoIP
Thou shalt make use of security and privacy enhancing browser addons & plugins
Thou shalt be extra cautious with social media & sharing personal information
Thou shalt use anti virus protection especially if using Windows
Thou shalt keep your system and all privacy & security tools up to date

=> if you're looking for further information, tips, tricks and tools go check out the Privacy Tools & How To Guides.

I bet that the most of beginners and newbies will not be able to understand the majority of the things and terms used to write those ten commandments. To not speak here to be able to use those themselves. I think that needed to much work and help by the most experienced people that they be able to use and applied those.

Nice post, there is some people who are too confident.

btw you forgot this one:

Thou shalt use your common sense, sometimes it is the least common of the senses Wink

People need to educate themselves especially when private, sensitive information is involved.

Amen, people in the last years are too confident, just look at facebook or other social networks, people dont care so much about all the info they write there, hell, some of them even write when they are going to the bathroom...
