Yes, that was annoying, as I too was a lurker. And also after registering and spending a lot of my time lurking through forums again, I've noticed my timer does not add correctly.
Then I've set up autorefreshing for a tab in my browser, and remaining 3 hours went by pretty fast.

I've been reading stuff for months, just didn't sign up 'till now. Never been on a serious forum before. 
should be increased to 10 hours so you read everything
does it have to be a solid 4 hour login or can i log out and go to sleep and login and continue the 4 hours?

I've spent well over 10 hours just lurking in either the miners or newbie section yet my "time logged in" is only 3.17 hours and hasn't changed for a while.
do I need to post every now and then to prove I'm logged in?
