<...>I thought hero account can't be demoted, is this is something new? <...>
There are multiple cases of de-ranked heroes and Legendries really that delete their posts and build up afterwards on their activity whilst preserving their merits. These are the ones I’ve got on the Dashboard that have additionally received sMerits at some point:

Hero can be certainly demoted. I have a proof of it where Hero demoted itself just to take part in signature campaign to satisfy Merit requirement.
I thought hero account can't be demoted, is this is something new?

Not only Hero but Legendary too can be demoted.
Here is one from Legendary to Hero >

Account Ajpa94 was senior member, got 250 airdropped merit and received another 250 - and probably then removed all posts (https://bpip.org/profile.aspx?p=Ajpa94)
Other account was hero member  Undecided

ffs fixing quote third time.

It's hard to believe people go to such lengths to farm accounts. Except if there's a code-way of doing it... It's probably the most tedious and boring exercise - having to delete over a thousand posts (maybe).

I agree that a measure should be put in place to 'de-merit' or outright ban a de-ranked accounts. It's obvious why anyone would do such.

I just wonder how they are able to remove all the traces.
Normally someone somewhere should qoute you at least once for all those 500 comments.
If they post only in one megathread and it gets deleted is the other option. Crazy...
They just start a new topic in the Off topic section and nobody will care if it will have 500 or more comments...
As soon as it's done, they can delete the posts and nobody will miss those 500 comments...
I always suggest to just totally delete the Off-topic section, because it's a sandbox for the spammers and account farmers... but I know that there are several meaningful posts in it and we just cannot delete those valuable thoughts Tongue

Put the user name in the search function to find out.
E.g. do that for the above mentioned Kda2018 and you'll find out he claimed to have bought 100k of Pascal Coin.
What use that info is, is another matter.

After reading the full discussion, i just need to understand one point; what issue in adjustment of the merit system by deleting awarded merits from users profiles when deleting matched posts?
Demoting from Hero to Brand new is possible by deleting post history and upranking from noob to Legend will only depends on activities/posts but why merit points are statics ? Don't you think that this still help account traders and hackers ?

Once a man, twice a child!

You are correct. It is possible to demote yourself from hero.

Clairvoyance...user knew he was going to self-destruct in 2018 while registering the account in 2016. Check the moniker.

There are a few more accounts that self-deranked, I think one even went from Hero to Newbie.

Afaik, hero and legendary memberships are permanent even if the users deleted all his posts. Maybe he was a senior member then deranked to newbie.

See, user earned only 15 merits but has total of 515 but currently a  Senior Member.

Did not find a legendary demoting itself, but I think it will be possible also.

I've seen this before with farmed accounts. By deleting the post history they can sell the account and re-use the previous posts to farm a new account without getting caught for plagiarism.

This is a big weakness that needs to be addressed.

I think noone would care if merits that belongs to deleted posts are just disappeared.

But one thing that came into my mind in connection with this:
If someone has created a proper topic and started a real conversation about a meaningful topic, and have received merit for it, but...
Some shitposters have taken over the topic (because most of the topics are not self-moderated) and it became a spamfest, mods can delete the whole topic and the well deserved merit too...
So it's not a solution, in the end, unfortunately...

And that brings me to this question, won't it be nice when a member is deranked all the merit acquired will be stripped? I believe before anyone is deranked the person might have defaulted in one way or the other,

Sorry, I can only scrape what still exists. Unfortunately I don't have the space to store all posts (although I've started this a few days ago, compressed posts excluding quotes only take 10 MB per day).
I don't really see much harm in this: a spammer with less spam, how great is that! There are a few more accounts that self-deranked, I think one even went from Hero to Newbie.

edit: this forum didn't have the posts anymore, but there is another clone, so you may look at it too
I tried the other phishing site (through archive.is, because my PC can't access it) already, but it's gone there too.

The user deleted about 500 posts http://archive.is/xNJ6B

One solution could be to visit this clone -thebitcointalk.net- and search for his/her username and so you will be able to find his/her posts
Of course, don't try to log in in this forum
