Mixers have minimum amount of coins that they can mix. If you do not send up to that minimum amount for mixing, it would be considered as donation.

The minimum deposit can be 0.002 BTC.

Can you let us know the amount of the coin that you sent for mixing, and the name of the mixer?
He even contacted them regarding his issue and he was told his deposit was not up to the minimum required amount.

Not exactly. They didn't contact me back. It was a message that appeared after paying saying see ya sucka.

Obviously not in that verbiage but might as well have been.

Anywhere on their site??
If it is a fine print hidden somewhere, or in their terms and conditions or policy of 50 pages instead of boldly in front of you when you are paying, would that be a "hey! Its your fault. They told you"...?
They usually have it in FAQ section and not buried somewhere in TOS, written in small letters.

Question to you... Let's assume that is true and that it was indeed in the FAQ. My question, to you, is... such vital piece of info, why put it there and not clearly on the page of purchase?

The only reason you wouldn't is to scam people in some shape or form and to some extent.
Doesn't make much sense to loose potential customer by stealing $7. Unless its a straight up scam mixer that is stealing everyone's money.

Does the mixer you used not have a name? Moved your post to scam accusation board and make a good thread there because right now your post is good as nothing, no name, no proof that you actually sent a coin to the mixer, no proof that your coin actually met the minimum amount that can be mixed…

If you want good response and possibly solution to your issue then do the needful by editing and adding the necessary information.

I don't remember it's name. It might have had "monkey" in its name. It's not the one being advertised now (or maybe it still is but it is not appearing to me). I'm sure there aren't hundreds of mixers that advertised here so if you or anyone can list the ones that advertised here, I am certain seeing the name again would ring a bell. This was last year. The amount they took was $7 worth at the time. I remember I was going make a post at the time but was procrastinating because of the effort I had to put in into making a thorough post (because I was really pissed at the time and I wanted to make a really good post) but obviously I never got to it. I emailed them when it happened but they didn't get back to me.

Right now I was looking into using a mixer again and while posting my last post I realized there is another mixer being advertised here. I was going to make a post titled "Are mixers %100 effective?"...my footnote of this post...but then my previous experience came back to me so the title and post changed.

I'm also certain I am not the only one this happened to so I guess the purpose of this post is just to put it out there and see what others experiences were, if they manages to get their money back, how, what happened to that site...etc.

i know it's none of my business as how much you want to mix but you mixed $7 worth of BTC last year and you only complain today not even remembering the name of the mixer. no way you can move this to the scam accusation forum

well like they said it is already considered a donation. they couldn't stop you from sending the coins though so it's not their fault that they accepted it. maybe they will consider returning if you immediately let them know.

But they didn't say that anywhere BEFORE sending my coins.
Are you absolutely sure that they didn't mention anywhere on the site what's the minimum amount that are willing to mix? Somehow I doubt that.

I remember...a) not seeing it and b) actively looking for it after paying thinking stupid me didn't notice but still not seeing it. And no, I did not comb through their site and terms and conditions to search or any indications that I would be had. I expected a legit business to make sure to make such things clear from the git go. The only reason you wouldn't is to scam people in some shape or form and to some extent.

In all of this your claim, you should at least have something that can show that you really did a transaction with them. Advertising a mixer campaign here does not guarantee that it will be completely effective. The fault could be yours or theirs, but without providing sufficient information and proof of the transaction between the two parties, your accusation is worthless. You are accusing a service of stealing by failing to refund your coin. You must ensure that your claim is true before proceeding so that other members can investigate the accusation you've just made about being duped by the mixer.

From his post it seems he didn’t meet up with the minimum amount and his coins were considered as a donation as just as you mentioned. He even contacted them regarding his issue and he was told his deposit was not up to the minimum required amount.

He obviously didn’t read about the platform before making use of their services which is a very bad habit. It is like a rule and there is no excuse for not knowing about it, they believe you should read about their services and how they operate before making use of their platform.

I don’t think you were scammed OP, you lost your coins because of your carelessness and i am sure you must have learned your lesson now so next time before making use of any platform you should carry out proper research about them.

But if you were to be scammed as you claimed you should make the name of the company known to everyone and also a clear proof so they can confirm the authenticity of your claims.

This story sounds a bit untrue because how can you do business with a mixer without knowing the name? The forum is a trusted space doesn't mean you shouldn't do your research first. So with this complaint you are making and you can't provide a name, how can we help you? So you use a coin mixer advertised here and from the looks of things, you probably did not read their TOS and it seems quite obvious you didn't check anything about them, you just doled your coins. Well if you want your story to look believable, you need to do what @Phillipma suggested.

Fair! But the question and point is...WHY WAS THIS NOT CLEARLY STATED BEFOREHAND?! it's not a given like beef is to burgers.

Have a look at my comment above to Cantsay. It was $7.

Did you read ToS of the mixer? And besides most mixers always make sure to write the minimum amount that a user can mix at the top of the page during the process of mixing so there’s a high chance that you didn’t pay much attention to it.

As long as we don’t have the link of the site to verify if everything you have written here is correct or if you are the one that made an error and now you’re just trying to blame it on the mixer for now clearly stating the minimum amount.

This place being popular I just stupidly trusted them thinking since they are allowed to advertise here that they are somehow vetted by this site. But stupid me don't even know if this site itself is clean.

Are mixers %100 effective anyway??
Firstly how are we to believe this is not one story you made up, you did not mention the name of which mixer you got scammed on, neither did you show some evidence to prove you were scammed.
Even if you had such evidence, it has been said here always do your own research don't just stupidly trust anything advertised here or trust any member based on their rank. This shows you haven't even been paying attention to the forum in the first place.

if you sent them 7 dollars worth of BTC what was BTC worth when you sent it.

and you should have complained the week you sent it.

Consider that lost money due to your own inability to properly follow up.

most mixers have a TOS.
Did you read the TOS?
Did you screen shot it?
Do you have proof of the send?

none of the above means you set yourself up.

Here is a screenshot of a mixer's page. look at minimum number you need to send 0.001 btc that is around 42 dollars as I post.

If you do not have this info from any mixer do not use it.
$7 is a cheap learning lesson for you.
To know what you are doing.

1) Have the name of the company
2) The link to it.
3) The TOS screen shot
4) screen shot of your send
5) tx of your send

so if you have none of that we can't help you much at all.

$7 spent to learn to document what you are doing.

Scam,s are not moderated here on bitcointalk so even if you see some service havinga signature camoaign, it doesn't mean that its legit. You always have to do your own research.

I used the coin mixer that is advertised here (the ads that appear below posts). I sent them my coins to mix and then they told me the coins I sent were not enough and that there is a certain minimum amount required to use their service. But they didn't say that anywhere BEFORE sending my coins. They happily accepted them AND THEN tell me about this requirement. So OK, give me back my coins then, but nope! They kept it!

This place being popular I just stupidly trusted them thinking since they are allowed to advertise here that they are somehow vetted by this site. But stupid me don't even know if this site itself is clean.
