Getting bitcoins to the hands of the general public requires comprehensive and true information dissemination. Well if the public isn't fully informed of what bitcoin can do and what does it really offer/how to use it, I don't think people will accept it as their main currency. Also take into consideration that though the world is now laden with technology and stuff, still there are a vast number of people who don't have access to it. If bitcoin can expand the media it can work through (like SMS which requires lower costs than having internet access, but I don't know if that's possible) then maybe poverty-stricken countries and people can join in the revolution and use bitcoin as well.

Even then if they want to accept Bitcoin.
So, how if the world wouldn't accept Bitcoin? You should imagine that too Cool
IMO the world for the next 10 or 20 years later will accept Bitcoin and i wouldn't imagine if Bitcoin not accepted by the world when someday we already have grand children

I have soft corner for bitcoin in the future, But I dont think It will remain alive after next 10 year because of the its anonymity. This currency may be used for feeding the terrorist of black money storage. It will be banned by the USA or other great power. But im hoping for the better future of bitcoin

It might be sooner. We don't know about that. But I imagine people will be one day treasure their bitcoin so much that it will become a treasure for inheritance. It's like whatever we are keeping today will be worth a lot some day enough to pass on to our children or even grandchildren that will be enough for them to lead a comfortable life

I will still not even be 50 in 20 years, so no grandparents making kids rich for me, i'll enjoy my hard work, vision of this incredible technology and severe holding myself thanks.

I actually hope it only takes 10 years for mass adoption. This should be faster than the internet. We don't need to buy the infrastructure, it's only a software that needs to spread, way easier.

I was thinking the bitcoin tonight, and the scenario for the future that I imagined is very nice.

It is not yet time to bitcoin, as is already 'happened to mobile phones, smartphones, the Internet and email,
The bitcoin will be 'widely used when we're old,  good and caring grandparents s who will donate some mbtc to our grandchildren for Christmas or birthday. We have to wait about 20 years i think for this scenario
So we should have enough patient to wait the day coming.
Yes bitcoin is still very young and not accept by most people, but it will change in some day.

Do you remember the beginning of mobile phones, internet and email. All the new tech that nerds loved but to much trouble to make it useful to ordinary folks. Kind of like bitcoin is today. All those pioners are gone now and companies that was able to make things useful to the masses have taken over.

I think this will be the future for bitcoin to. Onle a few old farts will remember it while a new and userfriendly crypto is adapted by everyone.

The problem is that the pioneers, Motorola, Nokia, Ericsson for mobiles and AOL, Yahoo etc for the internet are largely unused today.
That 'could' be the case with Bitcoin too, maybe one day people will laugh at how people used Bitcoin, when some other coin makes bitcoin looks old, slow and pathetic!

Even if we do become the AOL of cryptocurrencies, I would expect a far higher value of BTC for a long time to come, before a slow decline as other cryptocurrencies rise.

Motorola still makes a lot of phones, and lots of other communication gear (NFL coaches on the sidelines using motorola headsets/walkie talkies).

Nokia holds lots of mobile tech patents, still making lots off them:
http://seekingalpha.com/article/1448021-this-is-how-much-nokia-made-from-patents-last-year

I see btc doing the same thing.  The tech behind btc is revolutionary (ie the blockchain and ability to send/store money w/o a bank).  BTC itself may not be what becomes widely used, but the tech behind it probably will be...Ieven read IBM is developing a blockchain type tech for digital payments:

I don't think it will take 20 years for Bitcoin to gain significant mainstream adoption. You have to keep in mind that adoption doesn't happen linearly - it's happening exponentially. I'm not so sure if Bitcoin will become the only currency in the world, it's more likely that there will be competing ones. However even if Bitcoin is adopted only by 10% of the world population the implications for value are extreme.

My optimism for Bitcoin has never changed since the first time I did a transaction with it, because makes things easier in a way that can be experienced by everybody.

I see it like internet use around 1995, slow dial up connections, not all that useful.  Fast forward to 2005 and the internet is hugely useful, and used everywhere.  Another 10 years (to today) and most people can't live/work/study/read the news w/o the internet.  We'll see if btc continues on that same pace.  The main difference is EVERYONE has the necessary technology to use btc, just a matter of education and merchant acceptance...

but the point is that they are accepting it, only at a very slow rate, one should only hope that this slow rate will not be zero one day, but continue to move forward

as long as people continue to pay for things with bitcoin, merchants will surely keep accepting it. it's an extra revenue stream for them.

The mainstream adoption is happening faster than you think. Over 900 Cinemas in the USA accept Bitcoin as a payment method... This is getting crazy and it's growing bigger day by day.
In my opinion, Bitcoin will be mainstream within 5 years at the rate it's growing now and people would look back at these posts and say, "If I only invested 5 years ago, I would have been super rich now"

Ahh. I can't say that your prediction is wrong - I agree with you. However, I dont think the scenario you described above (Bitcoin going mainstream) will be part of any current Bitcoiner life. That's only going to happen when the world get tired of fiat. And it will be more than one hundred years later.

maybe our grandchildren or great-grandchildren will thank us for our perseverance in believing in bitcoin . when they will  buy   an international flight  for few cents of btc    Grin Grin Grin Wink Wink Wink
