I'm not following here...what is going on? What happened at Mintpal that is going to cause it to end?

From reading the thread the only information I can get is that they added a couple of new coins. I don't get it.

Basically a lot of people crying that an exchange didn't add the coin that they are holding

Was funny to see people laughing at the URO add, its only up 300% today and high volume...

I must admit i was very surprised and disappointed that mint-pal  added the mostly Scam coin ISIS, it makes no sense at all.

mint pal  should see themselves as the premier exchange and only add the best new promising coins which will hopefully be save investments for their clients.

Bittrex is a very different  model,  Bittrex add all the latest released coin's  and basically the risk is  down to you whether their just scams  or not.

i will be moving my funds to other exchanges

In my view, probably mintpal has its own way of judging in terms of choosing which one will Altcoin added to their exchanger without looking at the background of the coin where it originated.
They are quite selective in choosing which coins could be in they exchanger, outside the voting list of course (Mintpal added 2 Altcoin per week, 1 coin which of course we can see from the highest voted and one other decisive by Mintpal)
Not that I am siding with ISIS, but in my opinion maybe Mintpal know, that with they exchanger to add ISIS will be pros and cons, and mintpal want to take advantage of it.  Wink

It's just my Opinion.

That used to be true. But no longer is.
Now Mintpal is adding shit coins that immediately fail just after being added.

What about truly innovative coins? Mintpal used to add CLOAK, RZR, SUPER, CINNI? And now what? URO and ISIS? LOL!

yes, it is also a concern and some people including me.
quite visible difference, when some altcoin doesn't exist in mintpal they have hefty price high enough. it's just that, so right when that altcoin added at mintpal direct costs drop dramatically.
well it's hard to say, Mintpal seems to be like an Pump 'n Dump exchanger.  Grin

like craptsy was hahaha..

Credits CRD 1st Decentralized Exchange coin
i guess they will be replaced slowly by, you should take a look at Credits CRD https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/ann-credits-crd-with-20-decentralized-exchangeanonmarketmore-peak-july-2nd-634403 http://vimeo.com/100148381

Well, I guess this is the end of Mintpal.
It used to care about value.
Now it is adding some shit coins insted of those that bring some actual innovation (like VOOT, but not only VOOT).
What do you think? Which exchange will emerge as a new leader now that Mintpal is over?

It's usually a bad sign what happened with Mintpal this week. I hope the won't just disappear with people's money at some point like some other exchanges did after their downfall started.

Time is on our side, yes it is!
Also it didn't help that MP has now earned the reputation that when a coin gets added to Mintpal, it will 90% of the time end in a dump. If you're the average person, why would you want to keep trading on a platform you know you will lose money on?

+1000 !

I tend to watch their 'vote' page as listing of coins to avoid like the plague for that very reason.

I could be wrong but couldn't that just be from whales using Mintpal and dumping the coins they bought at a low price.  Buying on the rumor selling on the news could possibly explain the frequent dump of new coins.  I know I've held my share of bags, so I can relate to the frustration.

I was thinking more along the lines of the horrific dumps after 'not-so-new' coins get added there after being on polo for a while.

Ahh ok, I misunderstood.  Truth be told I don't even use Mintpal much at the moment so regarding the dumps I'll just take your word for it.

Adding URO I can sort of understand.  I'm almost definitely sure it is a scam.  However yesterday I was completely sure it was a scam.  They're either really selling UREA or they're running the most sophisticated altcoin scam yet complete with actual business addresses, real people, etc.  A good scam would have that stuff but Mintpal is thinking: a) if this is real, it is the new Bitcoin and we'll own it b) the scammers are going to pump URO up to $300.00 dollars before fading and we'll get all of those juicy transaction fees up until the end.

URO just makes me think of the well-known British English phrase: taking the piss

About ISIS, that just doesn't make sense.  I read their ANN when it came out:  typical scammy pump and dump meme coin (Egyptian Goddess, not the terrorists) that will get up on top of CMC for a day and then vanish never to be seen again.  Unless ISIS has something huge to release they let Mintpal on the choice makes no sense in anyway.  I'm into Voot but wouldn't have been butt hurt if Roxcoin, for example made it, or any of a bunch of other semi-non-scammy coins with a hint of innovation.

@ OP

Sounds like you got your knickers in a twist cause they wont list your stupid voot coin.

Mintpal definitely better and easier to use, than most exchanges, and as for Bittrex thats is the shit fest. it adds most shit coins just during the hype phaze then delists them after everyones dumped, leaving the bag holders with no where to trade.

You guys do realize Bittrex add shitcoins all the time, moreso than MintPal. The only volume they get is from those shitcoins.

Both mintpal and bittrex have their problems, but i like mintpal better. Bittrex layout is just strange. Mintpal seemed to be better in the past and what they did today was a mistake.
Mintpal need to do what they been doing, just be more aware and work harder to fix their issues.

It does look and feel like fud..  It just comes of like people are mad the coin they wanted added wasn't so they are pissed.  Maybe it was a bad move by Mintpal but not sure why it means their end.  Just saying what my gut is telling me from go, maybe there is more to the story then I realize.
