I hope the government don't wake up anytime to go against it , those people act funny sometimes because they have always seen bitcoin as a threat to them. Some countries are adopting bitcoin , maybe your country may also adopt bitcoin one day since bitcoin is not totally ban there
For now the cryptomarket in Nigeria isn't regulated. For now the government have considered it among the list of digital assets that can be used as a form of investment. The government haven't authorised to use it as currency as a asset to exchange value. So, it is important to cope with the government policies. Maybe this could cause them with some issues. The step taken forward is really big and the same coming from a country like Nigeria shows how how people are getting into cryptocurrency.
It is a good news that the nigeria government are not totally against crytocurrency,  even if it is not use as a second currency,  people can have access with and accept it as means for payment.  That's to say Op can comfortably do is business with bitcoin without and disturbance from any one.

This is a very great development for all especially we the bitcoin lovers. With this mode of payment, we can make payment easily and be free from network issues encountered with the centralized banking system when making  payment with card. With the programmed system of bitcoin transaction, am sure the network issues encountered with payment through the banking system is solved already when we use bitcoin for such transaction.

keep walking, Johnnie
2 weeks have passed since the publication of OP's post and I would like to ask the following questions. How many people paid with bitcoin for gas at your gas station during this time period? How often do your customers pay attention to the plate with the inscription "bitcoin accepted here"? Of course, very little time has passed in 2 weeks, as it seems to me, some changes should have already appeared.

This is a great opportunity and wonderful presentation around the people over there who loves to transact with bitcoin. This is another way of spreading the news about its adoption and acceptance in your country.

Isn't this something! It is clear that btc adoption is in progress, it may not be as rapid as some may expect but we are heading there.
It gives a certain kind of joy to see something you believe and support online in use in the actual world (especially when it has received so much negativity).  Am glad to see this, it shows people will embrace btc eventually but will take some time. I hope to see more businesses accepting btc.

Instant cryptocurrency exchange with own reserves!
I will be glad to know what is their process for using Bitcoin as the payment method?
Like how it works from customer to store side, is it convenient from both sides? And I am curious the advantage and disadvantages of using Bitcoin for paying your gas on a setup like this. Overall, I'm glad to see a business like this.
that should not be a challenge to the manger since it's a bitcoiner and he or her knowns or understand cryptocurrencies transaction's in all ramifications, at least people that understand bitcoin will start patronizing them before educating other customers on how payment with cryptocurrency will be done. I could remember vividly that some one card purchase bitcoins through credit card of that country and especially country the central bank accepts bitcoin. For me manager will not find it difficult to receive a payment through Bitcoin since he or her knows the procedures

This is very nice. I also hope that big companies in my country start accepting crypto as a payment alternative. It's great to see that happening in public. however, I think one of the owners of the company owns a bitcoin investment. it also makes many people know bitcoin, and don't think that bitcoin is only used for bad things. however, this is a very good thing for the existing crypto users in your city.
This is going to take time, unless the CEO of a company is in favor of bitcoin to the point they do not care about the profits the rest will wait until they think there is enough volume for them to justify this decision on their minds, and even if bitcoin has make a huge progress during the last years and many people have adopted bitcoin, this rate of adoption is not even all over the world, which means that some countries have progressed at a fast rate while others are completely stagnant.

This is really a great initiative on your part. Since you are the manager of the gas station, do you think you can show some data after a few months so we can see how many people have paid with Bitcoin? Maybe comparing the percentages with fiat could also shed some lights about how popular it has become in the meantime.

From what I understand, the bitcoins aren't converted to fiat. You hold them. How do you handle taxes and the obligations you have towards the state when someone pays with BTC? Some more info on that could be beneficial to everyone who might be thinking about adding support for BTC in the future.

This is so awesome thanks for sharing with us! Hopefully you’ll be able to provide us with updates as to how things progress. I am not sure if you mentioned where you are located, I would be interested in knowing that. Also interested in knowing how the owner felt about you adding it as a payment, if you had any push back at all? Thanks again for sharing !

I'm glad someone did something like that although we don't have to expect that the government will turn a blind eye here because I know one day they will come to that gas station and will gonna ask some questions. But I hope their government would support it though since it's in business but we just don't have to expect that they will since anytime that would change their mind. But for now, let's just spread the good news that Nigeria took the initiative to use Bitcoin as a way of payment for that gas station.
Whenever a business do accept or implement something and since these are regulated then its understandable that owners would make out some research first of bitcoin was on positive, neutral or negative situation into their country

which means that if they do accepted it out then its neither neutral still or already on that positive side of things.Everyone could accept nor adapt  nor integrate it and it would vary on every business or merchants out there.

its really good to look at that you could really make use of your crypto on paying up your gas but honestly i would rather keep my coins for long term perspective.

Bitcoin is a digital currency that is decentralized for peer-to-peer transactions. I see Bitcoin has a normal currency just like fiat that is used for daily transactions of goods and services. I am a lover of Bitcoin and I am very passionate about it even though it is volatile but also a good investment for long term holders. There is great opportunity for holders to benefit as the market fluctuate from one price to another.

As the new elected manager of my gas station, I have successfully initiate the use of Bitcoin as an alternative payment to help advocate and promote the use of great digital currency called  BTC. I am a Bitcoin lover and I intend to encourage the use in my local region so customers can pay and get to know about it. I see Bitcoin as both investment and a currency and the company can make more if we hold it in respective of the market conditions.

I know how challenging it can be to introduce an option for payment in Bitcoin, but with time customers may prefer it to fiat in respective of the network fee. It was never easy for me to convince the board about having an option for payment in Bitcoin, and I am happy for the enormous knowledge I was able to gather here and those that advised me on making this a success.

Accepting Bitcoin payment is an indication that business world is now ready to face the cryptocurrency. Bitcoin payment is a little bit more easy than paying cash specially when you need to purchase something that is more expensive.

God is great

This is so looking beautiful,  seeing this alone can trigger me to buy petrol when I don't really need it. Am excited getting to see how bitcoin is expending to do with business like this. Am very convinced me that in short time, all this won't be common to people again, it will be adopted as a tradition to many businesses.
I don't think the adoption will be easy as you say, I wonder how many customers have made payments in bitcoins at Op station so far. If the numbers are up to 20, I will be very impressed cause I used to think it will be difficult for Bitcoiners to spend their bitcoins buying gas. You seem very enthusiastic about it, which is a good sign that we have people who are willing to spend their bitcoins for everyday services.

You never can tell their might be customers who can buy gas with bitcoin,  especially customers who buy in  larger quantities.  Don't think people are not always ready to buy or pay for services with bitcoin.  Their are some shops that accept bitcoin for payment, people still spend their bitcoins to get what they want. Let me use my self as an example,  if I see a gas station where they accept bitcoin as payment I can spend my bitcoin sometimes to get gas, I always buy 100 litres of gas every 2 weeks which cost me $40.

To me it sees that we are entering into finally normalization of bitcoin economy, and much to my wonder bitcoin revolution is finding it enthusiasts more in smaller and developing nations that its more affluential European counterparts. Africa is going through a bitcoin revolution and Africans see bitcoins a opportunity of economic upheaval

That’s great! These little things give hope to bitcoin enthusiasts like me.  Paying in Bitcoin for day-to-day life necessities has been a dream for many bitcoin lovers like me.
I think he did something that was really useful and obviously it's not a small thing, it's difficult to convince someone let alone a company in this case a gas station to accept bitcoin payments, there are many mechanisms that he must do to be able to realize the initiative to use bitcoin as an alternative payment, but the question now is, what is the response from consumers or the government after knowing that gas stations accept bitcoin payments?, because as we all know there are still very few countries that allow bitcoin as a means of payment.

I commend you for the initiative to introduce Bitcoin in your region for people to know the existence of it. Atleast now they already have an option to choose either to pay using fiat or Bitcoin. Those who dont know about Bitcoin might gain interest to become a user/investor.

We have our own simple way to help promoting the use of Bitcoin but the impact of it would be huge. So congrats op for the job well done.
