I think the people who say bitcoin is going to 10/100k or some other silly number are just as ridiculous as the bitcoin is dead people. Both never offer anything as to why it going to either die or go to the moon. Nobody can predict where bitcoin is going. Sure, it could become worth tens of thousands but it could also become worthless. We can only wait and see.
well said.
i have the same feeling too. i don't want to say that OP is trolling or anything but whenever i read a post on bitcoin is dead or even a post on bitcoin is going to be worth bijillion dollars, i see it as a trolling attempt which is honestly getting old.

no one can predict the price that long, since we are at $240, you can not call a price that is way high like $10000 or even $1000 nor a low price like around $100. and especially without any proof or at least some reasonable charts.

For example how many of you run a full node ? I'm guessing not that many. The blockchain is already getting rather big hard to sync.

I run a full node.  I did recently have to switch it to a 3tb hd as it was outgrowing the one it was on.

You still have a 40gb hdd? Since that is what the current blockchain size is..
That said, great that you are running a full node. That 3TB hdd will be sufficient for a while!

It was actually a 120gb ssd that I had my OS, some apps, and the Bitcoin client on.  Now it just holds my OS.

But then it's not very silly then, is it. There has been lots of reasons given why bitcoin COULD go to 5 or 6 digits, as well as lots of reasons why bitcoin won't succeed. You can decide which side has better and more logical points, or maybe neither side has good points. But saying that neither offered any arguments on why they think that way is just wrong.

I wonder if it's really necessary to insult others, even if we disagree with them. Just play the ball, not the player... or if you have indeed have a nasty opinion on the player, just ignore his ball.

Well I'm sorry, but this forum is like a group of Special Olympics wannabees trying to play ball.  They just end up drooling all over themselves.  I'm sure you've seen this, but I'm not inclined to take the high road most of the time.  Also, I'd say one out of two members here is a scammer, and I don't think insulting people here is out of order.  We'll agree to disagree.

Trouble is the bigger bitcoin /the blockchain gets the more centralised it will become as it becomes harder and harder to store the whole blockchain. For example how many of you run a full node ? I'm guessing not that many. The blockchain is already getting rather big hard to sync.

I'm not saying this will cause bitcoin to fail, quite the opposite, the more centralised it becomes the more it will be embraced by the people at the top.

Perhaps bitcoin or some new coin will come along that remains decentralised at all scales but that is not on horizon yet as far as I know.

people who are serious about running a full node will switch to whatever size hdd is needed. but yes, some nodes might shut down decreasing the amount of full nodes.

Typical person who tunnelvision the price only. Just dont ''wait and see'' man...

Look at the background, find sites where they write about BTC. BTC is growing on a blistering speed, even i cant track it anymore. Price is not relevant only infrastructure, there is a whole army of ppl building the railroad to mainstream, you can trust me on that. The only importancy about the price is that we stay at the $x00's.

Bitcoin will go mainstream, it will get there to $10k+.

Those ''Bitcoin is dead'' ppl will disapear after the next bull run. You can call me a permabull, thats a result when you read background story's.

The funniest thing would be to expect unrealistic prices right now; when something moves up for such a high percentage in so little time, it's more likely for
it to return to base than it is to continue going up. I am placing my bet on cashout, waiting for a dip, and then ill try to rebuy. I may be wrong, but i have been disappointed too many times to believe in bull run.

cheers

It also seems that with each new large merchant accepting (Dell, overstock, etc) the price seems more stable due to more people actaully using btc and not trying to "hold" for years on end.  The more use is why I dont think another crazy bull run is very likely

here a few things to consider why BTC tech has value
Quantitative Easing:
No Capital controls
Jurisdictional arbitrage
Individual sovereign wealth

also the byszantine generals problem that BTC sovles (to a large extent) is paradigm shifting.

the wealth is backed quite a bit just by that.

Fiat and everything else before it a order of magnitude or more removed from the implications and operation of BTC tech.

It'll kinda be like how we now view the interview of Bill Gates where reporters couldn't fathom how this personal computer thing was ever going to be a "big deal".

Happens with every big paradigm shift, those that lack vision sling mud.

It just so hard for many people to grapple with the concept of the blockchain and actual decentralization....it like trying to explain the internet to the last generation or 2 x 10.
