That's what he probably did.

@OP, nothing has been "revealed". Theymos' identity was never a secret + he posted that himself:

Thanks for that link. I haven't read it before and it's quite interesting if you ask me.

The "news" site got their information from a post by theymos, who posted the subpoena. Theymos obviously did not care about his identity being "revealed" in this case.

Also both his identity and his address are public information, although he seems to delete posts that contain his address (at least from what I have read). Either way this is nothing new

@OP,

Theymos' real name and identity was huge breaking news for the 100th time back in mid 2011.

You're a tad bit late with this "killer" info.

This is BS!  Why the fuck are they making Theymos
take time out of his schedule to appear in court
when he can simply email them the records?

He doesn't have to appear, see this part:

In lieu of an appearance, the
custodian may fill out and return the declaration enclosed herewith along with the requested
records.
Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

It's possibly from some legal BS about not being able to cross examine a piece of paper.

Court: Is this a true and accurate copy of defendants posts on bitcointalk.org
Theymos: Yes
Court: Thank you, that will be all.

I seriously don't understand, why do people care to reveal identities if people have done nothing wrong.
THe bitcoin world tends to stay anonymous for no reason.

People have different levels of comfort with themselves in different contexts.  Some people want privacy for their success and failures.  The "system" wants you all to think disclosure for all behavior at all times is correct and moral just because it makes us easier to farm.

kind of funny that they need to waste time and money in communications and dragging a third party into court simply to hand over documents that anyone can print out.

i think theymos should simply reply to emails with these links
https://bitcointalksearch.org/user/altoid-3905
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=printpage;topic=175.0

and then let the courts print it out themselves

Yah, it's utter BS. I can't even see that they've explicitly requested PMs, just "posts". I would be tempted to go "Alrighty then, 5 point comic sans it is.."
