People change their opinions on stuff all the time. Maybe Trump realized that crypto is awesome? Remember Michael Saylor used to be a crypto hater too and now he is one the most hardcore bitcoin fan who buys lots of lots of bitcoins whenever he can. When you think about it many crypto people we read today used to be crypto haters in the past. So I don't find anything weird about Trump's situation and he was the president of the US. What was he gonna do? Tell people that his country's national currency sucks? No we can't expect anything like that from him. His latest support on crypto caught me unguarded too. I wasn't even expecting anything like that from him.

We can't force everyone to be afan of crypto. That's his own opinion, because it doesn't work for him. But don't forget people can change. I have seen some well known figures who made negative comments about Bitcoin have a change of mind down the road.

From my own observation, these politicians have seen the growth of Bitcoin because initially they didn't believe Bitcoin will become this popular and more people developing interest to invest in it. The internet and other media are discussing about bitcoin every day and it's just obvious that these politicians have no other options than to disguise as though they are also in support of Bitcoin now but we all know that the government will continue to kick against Bitcoin because of it decentralized nature since they know they can't interfere in people's transactions and that is why they have not been upfront about Bitcoin.
Politicians will remain politicians because they are not stable with their utterances, today they say something, tomorrow they say a different thing. It has always been in their nature not to be straightforward and being deceitful so I'm not surprised that politicians are now demanding support and donations from crypto Enthusiasts and it is also a strategy to persuade people to vote for them since they have discovered that large numbers of people are getting involved in the crypto industry.

Even though Internet don't forget things in the past, I guess Donald Trump didn't have the knowledge of BTC and crypto when he gave out such speech in the public, which anyone can   make such mistakes in the past.

Now that Donald Trump has proven to people that he understand BTC and crypto, and he know what BTC and crypto can do to US economy and to the people living in the US, I don't think this is a politics, I will advise BTC and crypto users to support Donald Trump to become president of the US come November and he will surely fulfill his promises when he assume office.

Even in my country, our new president use BTC and crypto to win the mind of BTC and crypto users to vote him massively, but after winning the election he make BTC and crypto to remain banned in the country, but I don't think Donald Trump will play such politice with US BTC and crypto users.

Certainly it is. If you are not good in making lies, then surely you won’t be able to enter politics. Just like Donald Trump, his words and actions towards cryptocurrency now might possibly be a big lie just to let the people fall on his trap. I know it’s obvious, but still I believe there will still a lot of people who might be voting for him, and probably they’re those old supporters of him.

While he clearly seem not to accept bitcoin as a currency way back then, now he’s already begging for bitcoin as a donation, something that even those uneducated persons can get that.

I agree with everyone that Trump is just trying to win more votes from cryptocurrency investors, and politicians are willing to use any trick just to achieve their goals.
I have read several articles about him supporting cryptocurrencies from meeting with bitcoin miners as well as stating that there will be changes needed to help the US maintain its leadership in the industry cryptocurrency industry. I don't see him saying he would favor crypto over fiat or that he would make bitcoin a currency to replace USD.
What he stated is that he will support cryptocurrencies, will have more crypto-friendly policies if elected, and that he wants the United States to be a leader in the crypto industry, not second place.

I can't find any news that he said he would favor bitcoin more than USD.

I have been following his statements about Bitcoin and when I heard him being pro-Bitcoin for the first time, I had to grin and shake my head. Out of a sudden he is trying to address any minority there is out there in order to somehow avoid losing a close election. It's ridiculous. He is just doing the opposite of whatever Joe Biden says or does if there are voters to be won. He isn't actually the kind of pro-Bitcoin political guy we as a community really want.

I will never allow any sort of political propaganda to get over me.. cryptocurrencies became a threat to beginners from the moment some political raptors saw a loophole, and since they knew how much they'd make out of it, they began to pretend like they were curbing the situation... But in reality, they made alot of Money already.

Trump made a wild spin of his statement (like a boomerang), he tried to correct an already made impression...  Does the Internet forgets easily?No!  He could still get a couple of votes from US citizens as that was just one of his flaws.

Donald Trump has made terrible comments about Bitcoin. It's natural because he doesn't like it. He's been against it from the beginning. He doesn't want Bitcoin to be legalized. This Bitcoin situation could have been much better earlier, but the Bitcoin situation is not getting better because they are not willing to move forward with it, and that is why Bitcoin is so behind. However, leaving everyone's words behind, the Bitcoin situation is expected to be better this time.

Donald Trump only take opportunity get more popularity by announcing his support for bitcoin become get legal one day later if win the election, we can't forget when becoming President since 2017-2022 he announced many time against with bitcoin and seems how his decision bad viewed with bitcoin. The reason why bitcoin up to this moment is not widely accepted is because of them who are actually against with bitcoin ever since, and now they will claim suddenly that they are siding bitcoin, that’s a disrespect to us who are the real pro-bitcoin from the beginning. Any politician can be a pro-bitcoin in an instant if they have intentions to deceive the people and win their votes. Trump is just one of those, fooling the people around thinking that they can be smarter than them, not realizing that the people have already seen this coming. So there’s no way that Trump will definitely favor bitcoin more than fiat, that calls for a miracle to make it happen. In fact, he can die for the sake of his USD but never for the acceptance of bitcoin. That’s the reality about Trump on wearing his mask.

This might also be controversial, but when a critically thinking person hears that Bitcoin is money for criminals, it raises some important questions about its utility. "Why is it for criminals?" Because criminals need privacy. "Well, I want privacy too". "What other reasons?" Because criminals distrust money issued and controlled by the state. "Why is that?" The way fiat currency works has poisoned societies and corrupted free markets for decades.

I expect a reasonable person to ask themselves these kinds of questions before eventually drawing a conclusion.

Trump is a politician who has great influence in his country, so any comments that come out of his military become public discussion, so he uses this moment to destroy the market, I predict that Trump is one of the big whales, I am very sure he holds a lot of botcoins, he makes bad comments. regarding bitcoin, he will definitely make a big profit from this news. Politicians only think about profits whatever way they will face it.

Many people dream of owning bitcoin since it was introduced if you look at the history and the final price at this time.

by the way this proves that there are politicians who fud on bitcoin but it doesn't work , as long as it is not regulated and does not use its authority as a form of selfishness, nor does it mix envy with the feasibility of the public interest it's fine. Politicians already have their own money .

Let the people decide to invest and store their bitcoins or use them for transactions. I feel that with a government that is flexible towards digital physical assets such as bitcoin, it is very convenient and helpful, even if it is only limited to approving. The fears of politicians cannot be avoided with the value of a country's money that may be shrinking, but everyone has the right to improve their economy and finances, I mean there is no need to continue to lament because freely investing is the most solutive way to improve living standards and in my opinion it is everyone's right, because the needs of the people are also entirely their own individuals who are looking for money. Of course bitcoin owners also use wisely and stay away from AML mutual commitment between the authoriser and those given access to use bitcoin.

I think his stance changed on crypto because of 2 reasons.

First being he had that Trump Card NFTs about a year or two back. These were fairly successful and he made like a few million or so dollars out of them. I think there was also a round 2 version of his NFTs. So obviously he can't be anti-crypto if he is selling his NFTs which are directly related to crypto.

Second being he has friends from Wall street. Many of them are making crazy money if crypto succeeds and they are probably pressuring him by telling him to be lax about it and in return he will get their donations for his campaign. He is probably good friends with many of the CEOs who launched the Bitcoin ETFs like Larry Fink.

How do all these candidates accept donations in cryptocurrencies, if cryptocurrencies are not officially recognized (have a gray status) in the USA? Just how are all these guys planning to spend these donated cryptos? After all, the use of cryptocurrencies as a means of payment is prohibited, isn’t it. And further. If candidates exchange donated crypto for traditional money, will they pay income tax on the conversion, as they require ordinary citizens to do?

Personally, for me, this is all (donations in cryptocurrencies) a PR stunt, nothing more, and the author is undeniably right in Trump’s deceit in expressing loyalty to cryptocurrencies. Politicians have never been friends with ordinary citizens and have always pursued only personal interests. What is being voiced in the election race is nothing more than a lie for the sake of getting additional votes.

The only problem with that is the regular people who still don't know what Bitcoin is (which is the majority of the world) would not see it as "Bitcoin is for everyone". Instead they see it as "Bitcoin is money for criminals". Specially since this FUD already existed in the past where they were told that bitcoin is only used by criminals and now they are seeing its manifestation...

Trump is not an exception among politicians who are known with many promises and failures to fulfill their promises in many years and through their long political career.

You can consider politicians as liars or else but national conditions are very complex while a single politician even as a national elected president, does not have power to do everything in their nation. They can fail to complete their promises because initially they did not want to do this and in this case they are pure liars. Otherwise, they can fail to keep up their promises because they don't have enough support from other politicians in a same party, institutional system and more conditions to execute what they promised.

I don't trust Trump and his promises but with his activities recent months, we saw that Biden and his party were under pressure to approve Bitcoin Spot ETFs then Ethereum Spot ETFs. Their party are no longer free to do attacks on cryptocurrency market when the President Election is very near and they don't want to lose support and votes from citizens.

You would have to check when he started talking about bitcoin positively. I have only seen his comments supporting bitcoin from this year so yes it is very likely that he is banking on bitcoin's success for him to gain his own.
Trump has been reported to hold assets in crypto wallet but does not support bitcoin. This article is from last year. I think if he genuinely believes in bitcoin, he should have said months ago especially that it seems that he is well aware of what cryptocurrency  is.

I think that it was especially a strategic move here for Trump's campaign but I don't think that he is all of the sudden a crypto supporter just because of that. I think that he could see Bitcoin as more of a tool now. No matter what he has said on bitcoin in the past I think its safe to say that so many others like him that used to be opposed are now coming around and beginning to support it. We will only see once he becomes president the 2nd time if he will take action and do what he says he will do, which I have a strong feeling that he will.

Politics is nothing but the game of lies, one who do it on your face but in a convincing way then they might get the chance and that's the fate of democracy if 51% people choose someone then 49% people has to go with whatever decision the government make.

Gentle reminder that none of these clowns stood by crypto until it worked well for them, not even Bernie Sanders of all people. If anything, these people are just in here to get your favors when the votes are about to be cast. And while I don't live in the US, I don't care for some convicted felon, even if they are the biggest cryptocurrency stan on the planet. Forget crypto, forget who's against it, it will always find a way into being a use-case despite bans and crackdowns anyway, be more inclined to think about the welfare of your kids in the near future.

Trump was never a pro-bitcoin in reality. If he’s admitting right now that he has come to favored bitcoin and want to promote it, surely he’s currently wearing a mask for the sake of his future political plans. Not only Trump but I believe majority of the politicians are still silently against bitcoin, but with the coming election, pretending to favor and promote bitcoin is just a play in order to win the hearts of bitcoin community.

Might be controversial nowadays, but criminals receiving Bitcoin payments is absolutely normal and expected, because Bitcoin is for everyone, including criminals. So, the short answer is yes. We do want Bitcoin to have the image of being used by criminals, if that's what it takes for it to be accessible to everyone.

The internet indeed never forgets, I can’t even remember him saying all this bad things about bitcoin in the past, this is clearly just a way for him to get himself to the office he’s seeking for and will use the influence of the large crypto community to win his goal. If he were someone else, I may have some believe that he has changed his stance about bitcoin or how he feels about this currency, but since he’s a politician, he is definitely using it to play political games that will get him back into that seat. absolutely right, as i said in some of my posts, these candidates are not really on the side of bitcoin and altcoin because they love it and really want to fight for it, but more for their own interests. they use it to gain public sympathy and make it seem like they love bitcoin. when in fact they don't really like it and only use it during the campaign, they are politicians and nothing more than boomers fighting for power.

You are very correct with the analysis you have made concerning politicians and their disguised agenda because it is just the way they get into power.
I would like to make a reference to the Nigerian elections of which the sitting president made such campaign promises and as we speak we are aware how much the government is doing to crackdown on crypto currency holders and users, most especially the exchanges being hassled for taxes, incentives, being forced to stop trading NGN and the ultimate which is regulation is the next move to control BTC and cryptocurrencies users in the country.

I don't believe in Trump's cryptocurrency promises because it's just him being a politician and seeking votes from whatever sources he can find.

100% agree with your post. People are saying "Trump is good for Bitcoin", however he is really just using it as a ploy to get more votes. Twitter since being bought by Elon Musk is becoming a cryptocurrency haven, and he wants to get on that bandwagon and get as many votes as possible, especially now that he is back on that platform, and it is heading more conservative.

Op, Trump was president till 2021, not 2022, but other than that, I agree with that post. Trump is not pro-Bitcoin, and he demonstrated it multiple times in the past. He is using Bitcoin to get a wider appeal at the upcoming elections, that's all. He can easily get back to his old rhetoric about Bitcoin being risky and the USD being the best once he's elected (if that happens). I believe that some politicians can be genuinely pro-Bitcoin (if they are libertarian, for example), but Trump is not one of those.

Victory at any cost is Trump's motto now. And if you need to be a crypto enthusiast, he will create an image for himself as such without going into details at all. However, does America have any options? Anyone running for president today will do whatever is necessary to achieve their goal. I was watching something on Youtube today where a retired army colonel (Lawrence Wilkerson, also SecState COS) was saying how Trump ruined all the work done during Obama time on Cuba and returned the draconian attitude toward that country. Something that today is starting another Cuban Missile Crisis (Russia is going to place missiles there to retaliate against US placing missiles in Ukraine. Russian warships will be there next week) and this could have been avoided very easily if Trump hadn't ruined years of work...

He continued Trump's draconian sanctions and inhumane blockade on Cuba... and they wonder why Cuba is getting close to Russia and why we are "seconds away from midnight"!

Hmm, Inflation is a big problem, if someone found a way to avoid inflation with some risk to earn potential returns with additional benefits like avoiding inflation why do such politicians make creepy sounds, make public stunts for their election campaigns, and never focus on facilitating those opportunities first when they are in power? TBH I used not to mix up the policies with investment markets, as we all know to win elections politicians can go for a level of hypocrisy. That's not the case in underdeveloped countries or third-world countries, it's the same case everywhere.

Saylor said idiotic things about Bitcoin before jumping all in as well (and he never stopped if we're being honest).  Everyone starts out as a critic.  That's a healthy attitude to have before doing your due diligence.  Now it appears that Trump has had time to learn more about crypto and has even participated himself.  He is very clearly the more pro-crypto candidate regardless of any prior statements that may have led people to believe otherwise.  No sense in trying to make it seem like something it isn't.

I already said it in another topic that i hate it when people talk about BTC and politicians in the same sentence, BTC does not need politicians to grow or survive. BTC is decentralized and operates without any central authority, don't let people who are looking to score cheap points in the forthcoming election decieve you that you need to vote for them for BTC to survive and grow.

Saylor has shown that he is now a full supporter by his constant acquisition and holding of Bitcoin. So comparing him with Trump is not appropriate. I hated Trump for those comments back then and because of the way he talks arrogantly, I thought Biden was the best option and Messiah as he was backed by his ally Obama but ended up disappointed to be the worst, his own concern is regulating it, so he can task more people from that angle. Trump is just a manipulator like the rest of them. He couldn't care less about Bitcoin or crypto in general. In fact, I am pretty sure he is still against the idea. Anything that competes with the petrodollar is a direct threat to those in power. Together with his advisors, he has realized that a decent percentage of Americans who might decide the outcome of the presidential elections care about Bitcoin. This is just a pathetic attempt to get those voters to vote for him. It's not different than when presidential candidates promise lower taxes, higher employment rates, better medical care, etc.

He is just addressing the current topics. One of those happens to be crypto. What else has he said? He is going to stop the genocide in Gaza and the Russia-Ukraine war. Why? Because that's what many American citizens want and are protesting for. Again, he is a manipulator. If the American public demanded that the Palestinians be completely annihilated, that's what he would be telling you in his addresses to the Nation.

Perhaps, Robert Kennedy Jr. is the best option, but he is not going to win.

Finally someone pointed this one out lol, pretty sure that Trump's just doing the politician thing where they promise something and praise that something so they can sway people that are interested in that something, this has been going on for a really long time already, I don't see how it can ever be that some politician that have paid hush money to a pornstar would ever deliver what they've promised, not to mention that Trump's got them felonies so I don't know if that's helping with the argument that this is all an act so the neutral voters of the bitcoin community would be in his favor.

His only real quality as a presidential candidate is that he's not Joe Biden. He won the first time around by not being Hillary Clinton.

For me politicians are cruel when they win the campaign and have headed to the presidential office it will forget what was promised during the campaign and now Trump is rumored to support bitcoin I am not sure about that opinion even though I am not a US citizen just following the news.

Someone's finally saying something about Trump that does make sense, it's such a weird times that it's always the people that don't have anything good to do that are always trying to go out of their way to ask for our votes, basically the latest US elections is split between this two airheads that really don't care about USA and all that they ever want is to leave a legacy that's going to be talked about through the years, it don't matter whether it's a good or bad legacy, what really matters to these politicians is that they can protect themselves the most. This is arguably the darkest time in the US history so I'm pretty sure that no matter who wins the election, the American people will be the one that's going to get the effects of this problem.

I think different, in investment it's good to hodl our bitcoin a long time because ROI from holding will be good. In political or socioeconomic view, if you want to support any politician, donate them and you can use bank, bitcoin or altcoins as your donation method. It's not big matter when you already want to donate them. Donate them directly in cryptocurrency will be more convenient for you than cash out your cryptocurrency and use it to donate them.

While I believe in people turning over a new leaf, I can't hardly apply this to politicians. Lying is a politician's main business. They may change tune every now and then; they may change parties, stand on certain issues, and so on and so forth, but the fact that their priority is to please people because that means everything to their career makes their words, promises, and all hollow.

When a Saylor changes tune on Bitcoin, that may be sincere. But when a Donald Trump does that in the thick of politicking, that would be suspicious.

Where they see something of their own benefit, they take advantage of the opportunity and attack. You’re right. Politicians are still the biggest liars living in Earth. They will do everything to look like convincing, but in reality everything they say are just coming from a thin air, as they cannot be reliable in every word that comes out from their mouth.

Donald trump changing his side is only for his own good, gaining votes because in 2019 he didn’t believe that many people would support crypto and Bitcoin. Now, it is a different story so he easily changed his mind without any explanation and that’s a normal and commun thing with politicians.
