Saylor simply saw true power (or profit, directly from bitcoin or indirectly, becoming a supporter / or just by voicing it of bitcoin). Smiley

How quickly all public figures become maximalists when this becomes a popular trend.[/i].

I wonder if these wealthy people will still support Bitcoin during a major market crash. I mean BTC losing around 50%+ of its value. Since they're only focused on the profits, it's likely such an event will force them to get out of the Bitcoin bandwagon. Saylor's been buying BTC during the dips, though. Just like El Salvador's Nayib Bukele.

I sure hope Trump is serious enough about Bitcoin after a second term in office. IF he gets re-elected. Receiving BTC donations through the Lightning Network is a smart move, imo. Maybe this will encourage other politicians to do the same in the future? Let's pray that the American crypto industry grows in the long run.

Yes. I remember when Saylor used to be against Bitcoin. But all of a sudden, he changed his views about it. Now he's a true Bitcoin maximalist.

I wouldn't throw the term around too loosely.  Perhaps a small minority are genuine converts, but I suspect the vast majority of business people and career politicians are still fiat maximalists and only like Bitcoin while it suits their goals.  Often "fairweather supporters" at best.
I would say that the vast majority of these people still do not understand this technology and its principles at all, but at the same time they call themselves BTC-maximalists. These are just not identified bitcoin-hypocrites. One should not blindly believe all those who overnight became BTC-maximalists, having been opponents of this in the past.

And with "friends" like Trump, who needs enemies?  The man is a sociopath.

Michael J. Saylor also had a negative view on bitcoin in the past but now he is the most bullish person we have and many other famous people also have a negative view on bitcoin but they are slowly changing their views about it. But it's funny that no one criticized or said bad things about Michael J. Saylor or Larry Fink, nor did I see anyone say bad things about Gary Gensler when he approved bitcoin ETFs  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy.

All politicians are equally cunning and cruel, they will be willing to do anything to achieve their goals, even murder. Honestly, we won't know what will happen to crypto if Trump is elected but at least for now he is a public supporter of crypto, while the Biden administration is finding ways to hinder the development of cryptocurrency. So there is no reason for us to hate and not support him, at least Trump is giving us a chance, not no chance at all.

Yes. I remember when Saylor used to be against Bitcoin. But all of a sudden, he changed his views about it. Now he's a true Bitcoin maximalist. You can see that's the case when he constantly bashes Ethereum and other alts. I guess the wealthy are now realizing Bitcoin's true potential.

With Trump, Saylor, and Fink by our side, it makes me wonder if people like Warren Buffet and Elizabeth Warren will join the craze? Only time will tell. The Winklevoss twins (from Gemini exchange) donated $2m in BTC to Donald Trump a while ago. Maybe this will help him win the White House? Cheesy

Trump has now endorsed Bitcoin, but Biden at one time wanted a 30% tax on it! Typical democrat. But I’ve heard he’s now aware that his stance is hurting him, so I look for him to endorse it at one of the Debates or a rally.

Election, election, election, Trump's camp knows how to attract attention again, and so they endorsed Bitcoin and accept as a form of donation. And it could have raise eyebrows for sure, but I would say that it is a smart move by Trump.

On the other hand, Biden's government is turning to be anti-crypto and yea for sure it might be hurting him in the long run. There could be voters that don't have a choice, specially Bitcoin enthusiast as who will they vote between the two. And being pro-crypto could be the decider for some young and old voters.

BlackRock CEO Larry Fink also used to be against Bitcoin only to change his stance a few months ago. Same goes with other wealthy and prominent figures in the mainstream world. They're realizing the true benefits Bitcoin provides. It would be dumb to reject something that's becoming increasingly-popular each day.

At least, Trump is smart by accepting BTC donations. Has Biden done the same? He doesn't even understand what crypto/Blockchain tech is. Since the current administration has regulated the crypto industry with a "heavy hand", crypto voters will seek other candidates who'll put their interests first. Both Donald Trump and RFK Jr. are the ticket for widespread adoption of crypto in America. We need pro-crypto politicians in the USA to help stimulate the growth of this nascent industry. Not the other way around. We'll see how successful Trump's venture will be. Who knows what will happen after Election Day? Cheesy

Its just like they are taking advantage on what they think what can give them benefits and look what happen to Trump now after calling bitcoin as scam before now its crazy that he show up saying some nice words about bitcoin. People would really doubt on his intention since lots of people don't forget about what he say that Bitcoin is a scam and affecting the value of Dollar.

Now here he is asking for donation in forms of bitcoin then try to catch the attention of people that he is pro bitcoin and willing to support it. Many people doubt on his intention and I understand that since he just say it on election period. These politician always goes or ride with famous issue then try to catch the support of people. So hopefully if he won he would do what he say and totally support bitcoin usage in their country.

This man is so cunning and he can use all the resources to win elections and to raise funds I don't understand how foolish people can be they are donating for campaign of someone who is already an elite and billionaire. Is it so easy to fool people? He is just using Bitcoin for his personal goals and don't forget once he was against it. Doesn't make any sense to me.

In short he calls Bitcoin as a scam, so why the sudden change of stance here?
Obviously, it's election time, gals and guys, others might argue that this is not a political statement, but still coming from a President and then suddenly make a U-turn statement to suddenly accepts LN for his campaign donation? You have to think twice American voters.

Trump knows how to play with his voters, and so he is thinking that becoming a pro-Bitcoin might favored him that's why he did change his stance for now. It's just the question on when he is elected, will he continue to support Bitcoin?

Lol, there's only two candidates here, and so it's not hard for them to choose who they can tolerant in the next four years.

Trump would accept even bitconnect if that would have any value at all, give the idiot some testnet coins as I doubt in his new found love fro bitcoin he has spent one second researching what Bitcoin is and why it matters.
Show me one person on this planet who will say no to people donating him money!

I accept LN donations, does that make me Jesus 3.14?

I really don't like either presidential candidate. One has mouth diarrhea and another poops his pants. But both are allowed to change their minds, too. In fact, Bitcoiners like it the most when people who were previously anti-Bitcoin changed their mind.

Isn't this how many of us got into Bitcoin? From doubters and suspicious thoughts to full buy in?

That's the best type of believer Smiley

That aside, this is politics.

I don't see how this helps bitcoin in anyway. In fact the involvement of any politician with Bitcoin shouldn't be news and shouldn't be reported at all. We know their intentions. Once they clench power, they'll resume their direct and sponsored attack on Bitcoin. For those who have the technical knowledge and expertise of Bitcoin, please I encourage you to keep creating decentralized and privacy software tools that would shield us from these politicians so that they cannot reach us once they win and reveal their true colors.
This should be the primary focus for now, not believing politicians and their antics, because all they want is the support to get to the position and once they attain the power, it becomes a struggle for the voters and supporters to survive the stringent policies they would enact to cocoon themselves from any comment or questions as to why they haven't fulfilled their campaign pledges.
Trump as a person and a candidate just faced a trial that found him guilty on several charges and we can't simply ignore the issues that befell him while he left office after having lost to Joe who still enjoys the position of president till date.

He and his campaign managers can decide to accept lightning network for all we care , but what am mostly concerned with is the congestion that may follow suit and slow down the network during the period of his campaign.

Because someone said crypto people like him, that's it. What people do not understand is that Trump has exactly ONE thing in his mind, being loved and he is in the wrong business for that, but you get to see how many people love him, and that's what he wants.

He is aware that republicans do, and he disliked crypto as his honest opinion, but because of what happened with Gensler and SEC, the "opposition" to him ended up getting crypto people disgruntled, so he is taking this time to make crypto something he always liked, which is a lie as we can obviously see, but we are going to see him promote his crypto stuff constantly, so that he could get some more love. It is not votes he wants, it is admiration and worship that he desires more than anything.
Actually it's a part of politics that you have to agree on everything that will ultimately make their political image more strong and adorable. It's not only the case with Trump but in every country there are politicians and almost all of them use the same techniques to make their political image better.

Once Trump was against the crypto currency market and now he see youth being so much involved so he changed his perspective.

That's right, not just Mr. Trump, any politician will use any trick if they see its potential to help them achieve their goals. But the more important thing that people are ignoring is that we only have two options: Trump and Biden. We still don't know how Trump will treat bitcoin and cryptocurrency after being elected, whether he is really as friendly to it as he says. But with what Biden is doing, he proposes to increase taxes on miners, he supports the SEC to confront cryptocurrencies by vetoing the SAB 21 bill. The world economy is still mired in inflation and shows no signs of cooling under President Biden.

Maybe when Trump wins the US presidency again, it will probably become a reality that every single bitcoin will be 150k to 200k until next year. Because Biden is actually just riding the trend that bitcoin has in these times because there will be an election, that's why Biden is doing all the flattery and stupidity to make the voters believe in their country.

Most people also know that Biden is not really a supporter of Bitcoin or cryptocurrency; that's the truth. Also, supporting people via bitcoin's lightning network is another good way to be honest.
How delusional are you? You are easily one of the most gullible people that I have ever noticed period. Trump is clearly just taking advantage of the ETF wave which anyone with a brain can see.

@cryptomaniac_xxx even shared a tweet of his where he expressed his opinion clearly about crypto above. Do your research.

It's great that Bitcoin is becoming a more prominent part of US politics, and that a major presidential candidate accepts donations in Bitcoin. But I hope that a small nice gesture, and a gesture that benefits Trump directly (it's money for his campaign, and it's potential votes for him in the elections), won't be enough to sway people to vote for him. Right now, Trump just needs support, so he seems more pro-Bitcoin. But in 2021, for instance, he viewed Bitcoin as a scam and was against it because it's competing against the USD.
Basic politicians, the words they say keep changing, the article below also explains that Trump is quite skeptical about Bitcoin and crypto

Quote
Donald Trump's Historical Stance on Bitcoin
Donald Trump's views on Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies have been a subject of significant interest and analysis. His comments on the matter, though not frequent, have been clear and pointed, reflecting skepticism towards the digital currency.
https://www.cryptodispensers.com/blog/trump-and-bitcoin-unraveling-the-impact-on-cryptos-course

but I'm sure that currently he is following the trend, especially since the bitcoin ETF already exists, so he sees the unstoppable potential of bitcoin
